Service was great! The HN was more than I expected and just what I was looking for. Whoever recommended the Penicillin was on point. The pub fare was tasty, although i expected their spicy burger to be spicier, it has a slow after burn. The fried pickles were good, but recommend a different side. Bring friends, and stay for a few good drinks. I visited solo and enjoyed the atmosphere.

This is my kind of bar. No gimmicks, no frills, and no nonsense. If you're looking for a place to dance or play pool, this place isn't for you. If you're looking for a place to have a beer and some good conversations with strangers, then you should swing by. Probably the fairest priced beer in the area.

Great bar for a large group with a backyard patio space. They offered the private at no cost as well in early October for a group of around 30 people. Good vibes but a bit nippy so bring a jacket if you're planning the same

Cool, casual, unfussy, no fancy seating. Small, neighborhood type place. Bartender a lot of fun. Movie shown on tv screen by bar and on screen in back. Comfort food eats on menu, nice drink variety. Not hipster-ish. Prices good.

It's not really a dive-bar, but his dive-bar-ish vibes. I enjoy the drinks here. The selection is limited but the quality is good. For mixed drinks, I recommend the Penicillin. The outdoor patio is a comfortable place to hang out on cool nights.

Of all the places I visited in NYC, this place made me feel the most at home. You know how sometimes you go to a place and feel right at home, like "If I lived here this would be my Cheers?" Yeah, it was like that.

Stumbled in here after the Q swept me into BKN directly after Canal St (go figure...I won't ask the MTA to explain their absurdities anymore 🙄) Alas, I digress! Hollow Nickel's got an awesomely rustic aura...almost like a Pirate Ship. Friggin' Sweet. The bartenders behind the Helm, Mark and Sancho, were laid back and amicable dudes, who made me feel right at home and ensured my glass was full. I didn't have the chance to try the food, because I was stuffed from a big, late lunch...so can't comment there. That being said, the Victory Pale Ale and Jame-o (or several, if I'm being truthful...) was all I needed to smooth out the 20 year ol' chip that lays atop my shoulder! Oh ... and Karate Kid on the Tube; Tom Petty on the Sonos ... Yep, this place is a Nickel plated with pure , 30-Karat Gold!
