I love this place! It's nearly impossible to find good, home made tamales in NYC but you can find them here! I had a chicken tamale and it was delicious. I can't wait to go back and get another one. I also loved the authentic Mexican hot chocolate, cinnamon and hot spices- yum! Definitely unique, not your run of the mill Brooklyn hipster coffee joint. This place has a warm, homey feel. It's a tiny spot but if you can go during off hours I recommend sitting at the counter and enjoying your treat.

Beaner Bar always has great coffee and a relaxed environment. When I moved to the area from Texas, this place made me feel at home and had great coffee. What else could you ask for?!? The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their coffee. Beaner Bar offers great flavor combos with their specialty drinks menu that will open up your mind about coffee. My personal fav was Mexican Mocha. This is must stop place for anyone interested in expanding their taste buds with some new flavors.

This place is amazing! Coffee is fantastic, made by folks who know what they're doing and freaking love doing it. Mexican mocha is really something special, the home-made tamales are out of this world. So much vibe. In a town with a coffee spot on seemingly every corner, Beaner Bar is doing superior work. See you there.

This Coffee Bar is hands down one of the best in the City. The coffee is top notch and each drink is expertly made by a staff who are friendly and inviting. For every regular, this place quickly becomes an extension of their apartment. I moved out of the neighborhood a little over a year ago and I have to admit that I dream about drinking their Mexican Mocha on a regular basis. Need I say more? Go and experience Beaner for yourself, you will be happy you did.

Beaner Bar is an excellent coffee shop, with a wide variety of specialty drinks and really high quality coffee from Counter Culture roasters; the terrific Hologram roast for their espresso, and a rotating selection of beans and roasts for their drip and iced coffee. Their prices are competitive with every other coffee shop in the area, and they have 8 / 12 / 16 ounce sizes available. It's worth noting that ALL of their espresso drinks have double shots of espresso (Americano, Cappuccino, everything), and ordering extra espresso gets you a third shot. Hand ground and uniquely spiced chocolate from Mexico is used for mocha and hot chocolate drinks, and Beaner is one of the only shops I know of that has hemp milk as an option! There are a wide variety of amazing pastries, cookies, and other baked goods, including vegan and gluten-free choices, all made by local neighborhood artisans. You can also get one of the cheapest and most delicious meals in all of Brooklyn - a huge and hearty chicken or cheese tamale with a side of beans and corn for only FIVE BUCKS.

Beaner Bar is definitely one of the most under-rated coffee joints in the area. It didn't surprise me when I learned that they made the New York Times Best Lists to get coffee in NYC. The pastries and tamales are amazing and always fresh...getting there early when the pastries are still warm is awesome! Not sure what the other reviews complaining about prices are about...perhaps if you are used to getting chain-store coffee in Iowa, the prices might seem high...but in Williamsburg, they are fair, and for the quality, actually on the low side. You can pay 3.50 these days for a small crappy iced coffee in Bed-Stuy, so, I don't have any issues with Beaner. Viva!

Great neighborhood spot, the Mexican baked goods are amazing, great yerba mate, tea and of course coffee and hot cocoa. Their stuff is quality, well worth the price and offers some different options than more traditional cafes.

If you're visiting Brooklyn, by all means, put a stop here on your to do list For starters, it's absolutely adorable. The decor is a lush, romantic Dios de los Muertos themed café, which seems so lovingly adorned with so many inspiring details. It's one of those places, where one could gaze at super cool, little knick knacks for hours. As for their fare, I've only experienced the coffee (both iced and hot), which I'm pleased to report was absolutely stellar, but I've heard glowing reviews of their food offerings, too. Prices are reasonable and the staff is so nice, too. Beaner Bar is definitely a great casual date spot, as well as a shining star in the neighborhood.

Small little cafe with novelty espresso drinks and friendly baristas! Breakfast Tacos are available (I believe only on weekends) and there's always some pastry available. Couple of bar seats. Not a place to stay and work for sure.
