Walked in off the street because I have a sweet tooth and going by it's name I thought I was in for some sugary treats. Boy was I wrong! I ordered up some Shakshuka and I was very happily greeted with some of the best eggs I ever had. They kicked it up a notch with some spice and I'm now a fan of this place. It's an all Jewish place and I'm a Catholic Hispanic. I was treated like family and ate like I was at home. This place is definitely a repeat for me!!
If you’re a foodie, the dream is to find some hole in the wall that has explosively amazing food. This is it! There’s no menu to speak of. The owner will make you what you want from his selection of cheeses, Mediterranean spices, veggies and breads. If it’s your first time, just get his signature sandwich: the Mefuneket. It is some secret combination of cheese and sauces and veggies that is one of the best sandwiches I’ve had ever. And if for some reason you can’t find room to eat- go for the coffee. It is out of this world. I would gladly drive hours to spend $10 for the most amazing yum experience.

Amazing, I don't even know how else to describe it.
The best food I ever had in my life, doesn't get any better than that. Their Shakshuka and Mefuneket signature sandwich is something to crave for, melts in your mouth. Incredibly fresh ingredients, well prepared and homemade. Customer service is amazing too and the place is run by amazing people.
I finally stopped into this place a year after moving into the neighborhood. And I regret not going in earlier. The mefuneket is a delicious sandwich. It's simple, not overdone and the ingredients speak for themselves. Now I understand why this sandwich is so famous. When I ordered the sandwich, another customer said that I'd be coming back to this place. And they were right. I'll be back. Probably many times.
One of a kind
I have been going to this place for years. Both the food and the owner are great. There is no other sandwich in the world better than his “mefuneket”. I don’t know how he came up with this masterpiece. It is addicting. Yhe sandwich is so good that you will crave one the next day at lunch time.
Everything's super tasty and fresh
Remember this place except only cash
The only food all my kids agree on!
Best mefuneket ever! I love coming here not just because of the food but because the owner Moty treats you like family. I live far away so I don't come as much as I'd like but when I do, I savor everything I order!
Great throw Back place
Great food if you Know you know
Highly Recommend Shaksuka and the Mefunket Sandwich
Overall score 7.5/10
This neighborhood cafe is a staple in the community! Moti the owner is Ah-mazing!! The food is delicious!! My personal favorite is the egg omelet and the espresso which is decent. They are best known for their mefuneket my second fave.
A very, very local spot. No on stumbles into this place, you need to be invited, and don't turn down that invitation. It's like transporting to Tel Aviv. Get the egg sandwich and eat quick, someone will be waiting for your seat. It's a busy place.
Oh Moti, the man with the smile and the heart behind every mefuneket. Has been in business for over 30 years making every breakfast a warm welcoming one. When I was a kid he had the arcades and when I ran out of quarters he would pop some out of the register and give me another 4 with a wink on his face. His wife and He treat my mom like a queen. I’m 34 now and still getting mefuneket after mefuneket. May H’ give him the strength and health to carry on for many many more years. He has a lot of hungry people to feed.
hands down the best breakfast sandwich
there is definitely a wait for it
unless ur really lucky and no1 is before you
or ur literally the first one there before any1or any over the phone order
I do guarantee you that you will forget all about the 20 minute wait once you get and start your sandwich
motti stay strong we all need you
Owner is very nice and even though the type of food he offered usually isn't my forte I still loved it. Would recommend.
Very good place. Drove from staten island to get the world famous MEFUNEKET sandwhich . Even bought 2 more for home . Use to go here all the time when i was a kid. God bless motti for inventing this sandwhich
Hmm lets see. Best breakfast spot in all of Brooklyn. Yea that'll do it. But I continue. Get the mefuneket sandwich before you die, it's as important as seeing the Grand Canyon, Niagra Falls, or any of the other things on your bucket list. Pair it with the best coffee in the world, aka cafe Moti, and you can say you truly lived.
