As always, service comment first. Although the place got taken over by a wedding during the later part of our visit, Alicia was a great bartender and helped make our experience better. Shout out to her for being great to us, although the other staff members who chipped in were solid also. As far as atmosphere, it is a spacious bar with great energy in a really cool offshoot of downtown Buena Vista. As far as drinks, they have a bunch of creative cocktails on the menu. I had the Smoke on the Mountain and it was tasty. As far as food, I had the poutine and wife had the gnocchi. Pic below is the poutine. Both were solid in taste. Mine lacked a little cheese curds I felt, and her gnocchi was sort of overwhelmed by the stuff on top. But, pretty good regardless. I definitely recommend visiting, and I can't say see you there (my accidental tagline apparently) because I live in Denver. But you should GO. Rounded down 4, but definitely recommend.
A five-star experience tucked away in a small town. It was beautiful, delicious, and relaxing. I highly recommend the margarita.
We ordered a pasta dish as well as a Pizza to share. And of course we had to order the truffle fries.
There’s a back room for seating, that’s dark and moody, while in the front there’s couches next to fireplace. It’s the perfect spot for date night. So intimate and romantic.
My husband and I went there for dinner last night, our servers Darian and Dakota were so wonderful they treated us like family, the whole atmosphere is welcoming and very laid back and the food was wonderful. Thank you Darian and Dakota for making us feel like family you guys are the best.
This is a very impressive dining experience. The food preparation is outstanding, our waitress knocked it out of the park, and the atmosphere is perfect. You must start with the calamari and don't forget the Carrot cake. So good. We will definitely be back every time we are in BV.
Great experience! Came here for the first time while passing though to Colorado Springs and I’m glad I did! The food was pretty good ! I ordered the salad and tomato soup and everything came out fairly quick and the food was hot! The shrimp with the salad did not taste as fresh but everything else was pretty good. I would definitely recommend checking out the place if you’re in the area.
Really nice ambiance here. The food was good but service was lacking. We were told our table was just being cleaned, only to wait 40+ minutes to be seated. Our starter came out after our dinner. We appreciate it being comped but not a great experience.
Of all the great, fun places to eat in BV, The Wesley & Rose at the Surf Hotel is the nicest/fanciest, while still maintaining a Colorado chill vibe and outstanding food!
Steaks are juicy, cooked to perfection, Arctic Char special was better’n any we had in Iceland, extensive CO beers on draft, and varied wine list.
Rian was our fun, knowledgeable and awesome server.
Sean (chef) popped out of busy kitchen to check on folks’ meals…he needn’t worry, nor should you.
Definitely worth a fancy splurge while enjoying BV.
I absolutely LOVE Wesley & Rose and the Surf Hotel. My husband and I come here about twice a year and it's one of our favorite getaways. We have celebrated our anniversary here the last two years and could not be happier about it! The service, food, and drinks are all amazing and we love their commitment to local ingredients whenever possible! Check out the schedule for shows in the ballroom or the lawn. All of them are great fun!
We always enjoy dinner at the Wesley & Rose! The atmosphere is very pleasant and a good temperature. We particularly enjoy the surf burger with truffle fries then a special. The servers are always attentive and helpful. Our server Kaylie helped to recommend new dishes we haven’t tried yet and was very helpful and provided great service. Thank you Kaylie and Wesley & Rose!
This is an updated review and I've dropped a star. Our last dinner was a mixed bag. The seasonal smoked beet salad and goat cheese gnocchi with vegetables were hits. The brisket fell into the DO NOT ORDER. For $39 we got a plate full of fat. Not to mention the meatier portions did not resemble brisket in the least. The texture was closer to prime rib but chewier and flavorless. The small portion of potatoes and jalapeno slaw were also forgettable. I've made better brisket in my oven. I have stopped by for happy hour, dinner and brunch. Love the sophisticated vibe next to the Arkansas River. Cocktails are first rate. Desserts are off the charts with the toasted s'mores pastry.. Different types of seating are available throughout the lobby/bar/restaurant. Hard to beat a good Benedict (this one with lump crab).
It was good and I enjoyed it but I wouldn't say that what we got was out of this world amazing. But don't get me wrong, it was good. And not terribly expensive for a relatively nice restaurant.
If something strikes you on the menu, I would say go for it. It was tasty and it's a nice locale. It also sounded like their deserts are special but we didn't try any.
I got the lasagna and my partner got the chef's salmon. And the drink is the River Spritz which she enjoyed. Our server was also very friendly and helpful.
That was one of the best meals we've had in a long time from the crab cakes to the n/a cocktail to the galette to the green goddess salad to the basque cheesecake. Wesley & Rose just kept hitting home runs for us with their food, drinks, service and atmosphere!
The atmosphere here is gorgeously designed and so beautiful. It's the perfect combination of upscale and comfortably casual. I had the chicken sandwich and corn chowder which I'd highly recommend. The service from Madeline was attentive and friendly. I'm glad we chose this for our dinner in Buena Vista at the Surf Hotel.
Possibly the best supper I've ever had! The lamb pops were delicious and a great appetizer to split. The chefs choice salmon was amazing, which doesn't even come close to how great it was! The bartender was outstanding and she did a perfect job on the bartenders choice drinks. Can't wait to go back and enjoy another evening here!
A beautiful addition to the Surf Hotel in Buena Vista. The desserts are some of the best, and the bar is a cozy and peaceful environment that offers a calming but engaging experience. The service is quick, and the location is very convenient if one stays at the Surf Hotel. It overlooks the beautiful river, which adds on to the relaxing ambience.
