I read an article from Step Out Buffalo a few weeks ago about Golden Cup Coffee that really intrigued me to try it out the next time I visited Buffalo, and today was the day.
I usually travel with a cup of coffee, but silly me, I left my to go cup at home and I was in need of a caffeine pick me up. That's when I remembered that article!
Golden cup is a petite but comfy coffee shop that smells incredible once you enter.
I wasn't sure what to get, so I asked for a large, black coffee of their house blend; known as "Buffalo Roast."
My husband got a large of "African Gold" coffee with half n' half.
The Buffalo Roast is slightly bitter, but bold and strong. Sort of reminds me of a mild espresso.
I had a sip of my husband's African Gold; it has a slightly sweet fragrant flavor.
Both are INCREDIBLE!!!
After one sip of each I bought some grounds to take home.
I also eyed their beautifully displayed sweets and opted for a slice of Caramel Cake. It's a moist yellow cake with a fluffy caramel frosting. A perfect compliment to my coffee.
The woman that waited on us was very pleasant, and patrons were happy to tell us what to try the next time we stop in.
I will most definitely be back.
EXCELLENT coffee!!!!!!!! I ordered The African Blend (along with 2 other different blends online that I haven't tried yet!) and I'm so impressed with their coffee. The African blend is smooth and rich.....LOVE it!!! Customer service (Jacqueline) is the best...she went over and above to be sure I was satisfied with my purchase! I will be ordering more coffee from this company. Their coffee is outstanding and customer service is equally outstanding!!!!!!
We normally buy online due to where we live but we got to visit today and buy from the owners-roasters!! Great people and great coffee!!
Fantastic coffee and food, strong community focus, these folks are simply the best! I haven't been in probably 6 months, but they remembered my breakfast croissant order (egg, cheese, and whatever veggies they have around--spinach, mushrooms, and onion this morning)!! So good. Also picked up a single bag of their Vermont Maple Nut Crunch coffee. There are places that are touted as more hip around town (Public, Tipico, Daily Planet), which are all great...but if you want to be a part of and support Buffalo, then Golden Cup is without rival. And frankly, with their in-house roasting and flavored coffees, they're no less hip.
Great experience and excellent service. Popped in for a cup of Chai Latte and one of the coffees of the week (Jamaica Me Crazy) with a friend and we both really enjoyed our brews. As long as I've heard of this place, I hadn't stopped in to support this Black-owned coffee shop, but glad I did today because they serve Pecan Pie! As a southern transplant, this made my heart (though not my waistline) very happy.
Will return for beverages and pie in the future.

The Buffalo roast is a perfect dark, smooth, everyday coffee.
Best coffee I have ever had
Have given bags of the African Gold to people as gifts and they have all said the same thing. Only downside is its harder to stomach cheap coffee (i.e. Maxwell House) after getting hooked on Golden Cup.
