I was driving through Champaign on my way to Detroit. And I stopped by here again after 8 years. Im glad the restaurant is still here and survived Covid19.
The food was great as usual. It's hard to find a good Chinese restaurant like Golden Harbor in the Midwest.
After a few years of inconsistent food quality the kitchen is stabilized to produce some great tasting dishes.
The steamed sole fish with ginger and garlic was pretty spot on for Cantonese flavoring.
Tso’s chicken was tangy and sweet not overpowering.
The fried beef with basil was surprisingly light and flavorful.
Crispy salt n pepper 🌶️ tofu was crunchy but also kinda melts when bit into.
Chinese broccoli 🥦 with garlic sauce was light but saucy. Usually Cantonese chefs cook it whole and lay sauce on top. So you know the chef in kitchen for this dish wasn’t old school.
The egg noodle with beef stew was great.
The vinegar lotus was yucky, all vinegar and undercooked lotus.
The half Peking duck sucked. Yeah we know but one youngling had to try it to believe it. 😂
The Jasmine tea was legit. Self service is cool and friendly service.

We had Mongolian beef and steamed fish with ginger and scallions. Food was great. We came very close to closing time and the owners waited for us. Special Thanks for that.
The food at Golden Harbor is exceptional! Authentic Chinese tasty and well prepared. They have an extensive menu and you can choose among hundreds of menu options. They prepare food quickly. I always enjoy complementary teas. I highly recommend this place.

When it comes to great places to stop off in Champaign, it doesn’t get any better than Golden Harbor Authentic Chinese Cuisine.
I was driving through Champaign on my way to Georgia and I had to stop off at a great duck restaurant along the way.
I ordered the bbq duck and it’s one of the best I’ve ever had.
First off it was out in less than 15 minutes after I ordered it. The duck was crispy yet juicy and delicious.
I can’t wait to go back for more. Such a great place, particularly for bbq duck.
Best Chinese food in town, the Chinese menu is better than the American menu but both are delicious. I get takeout often and the dry hot pots are exceptionally good. The place would have an even higher average if not for a smattering of 1 star ratings that are clearly fictional or bots (eg, one alleges that the menus are all in English, which is demonstrably false to anyone who's been there).
It's not your typical restaurant experience but it's delicious and fast. There's literally hundreds of options from vegetarian to more rare meat options. You seat yourself (most tables seat at least 6) after you put your order in at the kiosk and get your beverage. Hot tea is complimentary but the other drinks are a bit pricy. The food was delicious and on our table in less than 5 minutes.
