Mondo’s is hands down the best Italian restaurant in the low country. Everything from the bread, to the wine, to the salad, to the eggplant to the martinis was perfect!

Went for my birthday dinner last night. Been here many times before and as usual, it was wonderful. I had Chicken Linguine. My favorite dish is Piccatta with chicken. Give this place a chance. You won't regret it.

Total “newbie”, drifting in from Johns Island on a very heavy suggestion from a patron. Amazing food, and excellent company (our bartender, Tim, serves as both bartender and comedian)... Easily in my top three for the Charleston area.

I feel like I don’t ever have to eat again now. I tasted what may have been made by Gods of the universe and now I can go peacefully into the sun. Oh and your sweet tea made me goto Chick-fil-A this morning and ask for a refund for making me think they had the best tea all these years. NOPE- Y’all do.

I do like this place because it is convenient to get to but I would not call it great or amazing Italian. It is ok. If you are not of Italian heritage or did not know god Italian food it will probably delight you. How to improve:
Better bread, less fat and oils in the cooking process, mussels would be better if not so much oil/butter or make believe butter, sauces are too heavy... I would call this Southern style Eyetalian food and it is tasty  in some regards but not really Italian cuisine.

Best dinner. The mushroom raviolis and manicotti dinners. Don't let the strip mall area fool you. This restaurant compares to little Italy in Ny and Boston. Must try!

Consistent, great food, local, specials can be really really good (balsamic pork over polenta!). It is a go-to if I want to go somewhere that I know I'll enjoy.

Wine menu is more varied than some other Italian restaurant in that it offers wines from places other than Italy.

Service is reliable and smooth, even on nights when they are slammed. If you have to wait, take a seat at their inside or outdoor bars. You've glad you did.

Food was delicious so we will definitely be returning. Our problems were with the waitress who treated us like we were total Inconviences and the cheesecake is definitely pre made and Not very good. The food really is so good though.

This place is fantastic and we can't wait to go back! The mussels in garlic cream sauce app was memorable and something I can't wait to order again. The chicken parm and egglant parm were great. They have a really nice tomato-y sauce. For dessert we had gelato and a canoli. My husband raved over the canoli.
Overall, the prices are fair and moderate as well.

Food was amazing as usual but Colleen was a horrible server. Complaining to the table beside us and taking shots with the table beside us is unacceptable. I always tip 20% but she deserved a minimum 10%.

Worth the drive from Folly Beach! Everything was delicious on the menu. Great wine selection. Urbanspoon reviewers scored this place perfectly. Portbella appetizer was awesome. I wasn't exactly in the mood for eggplant Parmesan, but I ordered anyway based on the reviews. I cleaned my plate. Tiramisu was over-the-top! Yum, yum, yum! Best meal I had during my vacation. Say YES!

Love love love. Mondo's is our favorite little italian place in Charleston. It doesn't look like much from the outside because it is located in a shopping center, but inside the atmosphere is both quant and romantic. The food is fresh, authentic and amazing. Love the cannoli also!

This is only my second time to Mondos Delight, however this time was just as fantastic as the first time.
The atmosphere is very inviting for couples, and families!
And I don't even know where to begin with the food! It's FANTASTIC!!!! My family and I choose a new restaurant every other Friday to go to, and trust me we have been to a lot of restaurants in the Charleston area, and by far this is my favorite!
This restaurant has been open for over 15 years and I now understand why!
You have to check this place out, you won't be disappointed!!

I love mondos! You can either get simple dishes (my fav is spaghetti and meatballs) or more intricate dishes. And the service is awesome. We went in to get take out the first time because we felt underdressed upon arrival. We were in sweats and thought since it was in a strip mall, it wasn't going to be that nice. It's pretty nice inside. So while we waited at the bar with a drink, they gave us bread and olive oil and it really felt like a neighborhood place. I don't know where this place has been hiding!

Best meal I've had in a long time!. While visiting family in Charleston, we got lucky and were taken to Mondo's. We got there and were seated immediately. Within minutes, there was a line to get in. I ordered a dinner special, Shrimp & scallops in pomodoro sauce. The menu described it served with shrimp, garlic, olives and tomatoes and basil with wine wine and seared scallops, served with homemade egg pappardelle. They were out of the pappardelle, and it was cooked with homemade spinach bucatini. It was served in a large pasta bowl with fresh basil through-out. It was absolutely amazing!!!! The pasta was hearty and perfectly al dente and complimented the delicate scallops and shrimp. Which, I might add, were cooked to perfection! No over cooking at all, both were so tender and sweet. The kalamata olives, both black and green weren't over powering, and also complimented the seafood. The sauce was lucious and juicy but not watery, everything about this dish was delicious and very impressive. Definitely made my first trip to Charleston very memorable!!! I look forward to returning in the future.

Yum!!. We went to Mondo's Delite for the first time this evening, and I loved it. So happy to find a local place with my fave dish: penne with vodka sauce and chicken. Had the chocolate pyramid for desert, and it was fabulous, too.

The most consistent restaurant.. We have been going here for many years...since they opened. It has always been above average. Some dishes can get pricey, but still way less than downtown, or Mount Pleasant.

The specials are always good. The salmon is the best we have ever eaten.

The eggplant parm is a work of art as it a bit different than every other style that we have eaten.

Outstanding Italian food!. Mondo's serves outstanding Italian food. All of their pastas are very fresh and the sauces explode with flavor. Recently I had their chicken marsala over penne, which was delicious but the piccata I've had in the past was even better. I always get the antipasto salad which has little pinwheels of meat and cheese, red peppers, peperoncini, red onions, artichokes and a tasty balsamic dressing. It is a really surprising "delite" considering the strip mall it is in. Service is good and the atmosphere is romantic. Be prepared, there is almost always a wait but the hostess typically under promises and over delivers on the wait time.

Favorite Restaurant on JI. I absolutely LOVE Mondo's! My boyfriend and I always order from the specials. You will never be disappointed! We start of with the Proscuitto wrapped artichoke hearts..yum! Then I usually order the filet over gnocchi and my boyfriend gets the salmon over risotto. We both are sooo full by the end of dinner that we are literally carrying each other out of the restaurant! Fantastic place and I highly recommend it!

Mondo's is a Delite. This is a restaurant where you can't judge a book by its cover. You may have driven past this place a hundred times and not known there was a hidden gem. I always get one of the daily specials and I have never been disappointed. Whenever they offer gnocchi with a dish I order it! They have great prices on bottles of wine.

Came here on a whim when we got to Charleston, not expecting the restaurant to be packed to the brim at 7:30! The food was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced with generous portions, and the service was amazing as well. I would HIGHLY recommend coming here if you’re craving Italian in Charleston.

You need to eat the gorgonzola salad at Mondo's! This was my favorite dish of the night, but the gorgonzola cheese pasta with veal cutlets was also superb. The veal cutlet was perfectly cooked with a crisp crust. The special of the evening was a crab pasta that was buttery and flavorful. The focaccia was also very good and a nice start to the meal. Mondo's is first come first serve, so you may have to wait. Our waiter, Todd, was excellent. Also, the portions at this restaurant are large, so come hungry!

Having recently bought a house in Charleston, we went to Mondo’s Italian for the first time tonight at the suggestion of a local friend. I have this tradition at the end of a great meal, whenever possible, to express my gratitude to the Chef and Back of the house staff. The open kitchen at Mondo’s made this easier to do on a busy Saturday night. Rick (our waiter) and Michelle (waitress in training) were both standing at the pass and I said that if I had to describe our meal at Mondo’s in one word it would be ….Salvation! sal·va·tion noun preservation or deliverance from harm, ruin, or loss. It was all that and more! Our meal began with their wonderfully light and savory Focaccia Bread served with a dish of fruity Olive oil and a small ramekin of Grated Parmesan Cheese. I knew that I would need some of it for dipping during the meal so amazingly I was able to exercise restraint. If you find yourself in need of more, they have second (or third) rounds as a menu item at $6.00 Well worth it! We ordered the Steamed Mussels and I appreciate the offering of several different flavor profiles. We chose the Roasted Garlic Cream sauce. I have a confession: when I order mussels at a restaurant it’s a bit self serving because my girlfriend is usually good for 3, maybe 4 of the small ones and I get to eat the rest….FYI, she ate almost half the bowl and proclaimed these mussels as the best she ever had! They were incredibly tender with absolutely no chew. The sauce was well balanced and light for a cream sauce. For entrees, she ordered the Eggplant Parmesan , I’ll get to that in a minute, but I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the salad that came with it. Many Italian places give a salad with certain meals and it is notoriously a handful of Mesclun greens, some onions, and dressing. At Mondo’s they really go the extra mile on their included salad. Fresh mixed greens, mushrooms, zuchinni, tomatoes, Carrots sunflower seeds and a lovely Balsamic dressing in a very generous portion. Back to the Eggplant…luscious, thicker than usual slices of eggplant layered with Spinach, cheese and their darn near perfect marinara sauce, baked Il Forno till the cheese is browned and the edges Carmelized and crisp. Again the portion was ample and we took half of it home. I ordered the Pasta Aglio e Olio (Garlic with Oil) with the addition of Sautéed Shrimp. Rick told me it was the Chef’s favorite so order it I did. It’s this Chef’s favorite now too! (Yes, I’m a retired Chef) This dish was simply perfect! After all that, we muscled our way through a piece of Flourless Chocolate Cake that came topped with whipped cream and Luxardo Cherries with their sauce. A perfect ending to a most amazing meal. Being from NJ, I asked Rick to tell me who in the kitchen is from NJ“ because I would put this meal up against anything I’ve had back home. He replied “the owner is from NJ” I must say I wasn’t at all surprised.

The food was amazing. The hostess was rude. The service was great. Had the Seared salmon and parmeasean risotto and added salmon. It was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Topped it off with an Italian amaretto martini. Yummy! It was loud busy atmosphere. I came in with a broken ankle with a scooter and I was able to have enough room to move around.

Get your taste buds ready, what an amazing place to have luscious, fresh and to boot: very generous portions of the very best Italian food. I'm from New York, Italian food means a lot to me. So take it from me: Great Italian food- go to Mondo's! I had the Manicotti- loved it!!! Going back this weekend. Gotta have either the spaghetti and meatballs or the Lasagna. Too many great choices- gotta make the time and go there. You'll thank me!

This place is such a little gem! The food is really, really good. Everything made from scratch and it shows. I had the manicotti and it was so big I could only eat half of it! I don't eat salads, and when my boyfriends salad came out, it made me want to try a bite, it looked so pretty! Laura, the bartender, couldn't have been more of a sweetheart! We eat here fairly often. The best Italian on James Island and one of the best in the greater Charleston area. No reservations so get here early or plan to wait a while. Limited outdoor seating but if the weather is good it’s very nice. Inside, it’s pretty tame decor but clean and well spaced. Not too loud when full but certainly not on the quiet side. Menu is fairly broad so there is something for everyone and the prices are reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food delivered. This is a very good restaurants and we give it 4.5 clams on the coveted Five Quahog Rating Scale.

Loved it, and will be back to try the other entree's! It's kind of in an unassuming spot on Folly road, but well worth the stop. It was a little loud inside, not ideal for a quiet date, but it did seem quiet and intimate of you dine outside. All of the food was amazing, and very reasonably priced! Great wine selection with fair prices. Our service was great, and very helpful. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was that one of our orders came out wrong, and our server didn't seem very apologetic, but she was still friendly and great.

We were originally told about Mondo's by Andrea, or VRBO host. She highly recommended it, and me being a lover of all things pasta, it was a must try. We mentioned it in passing to a few people during conversation while we were taking in this beautiful area, and everyone agreed that it was a must eat. We arrived around 5:15, and immediately saw the sign stating that were short staffed and dining seating was limited, however, we were greeted by the hostess and told there was a 10 minute wait. We went outside to the small bar area, and were immediately greeted by the attentive bartender. Placed our drink order and about half way through our drinks, the very pleasant hostess came to get us. We were sat, and Laurie (I hope I got this is correct) came over for drink orders immediately. We placed our orders, and within a few minutes she was back and ready for our appetizer order. She brought bread out in between the artichokes and arachini balls we ordered as appetizers, and it was fresh and tasty. And let me tell you, the appetizers OMG!! We then placed out dinner order. I ordered gnocchi, roasted mushroom, and switched the fried chicken for the blackened chicken. My fiance (tomorrow, he will be my husband), ordered the baked manicotti. When I tell you that the first bite of my meal was pure heaven. ... I saw and heard angels. The flavors in my dish!!! Incredible. My fiance manicotti was also amazing. We followed it up with the cherry amaretto Gelato, so amazingly good. We left with enough leftover for tomorrow nights dinner. Our waitress was so attentive, sweet, and helpful. I wish we were here longer. Thank you for an excellent pre-wedding night dinner.

Love, love, love, love Mondo’s. Oh, there’s very little that they don’t do very very well. One drawback would be this host staff sometimes I think their job is to fight to keep the guests at bay the customers rather than welcome and accommodate them. Once you get past these gate keepers, the experience is exceptional.

We started with the caprese app, with their bread then my husband had the Italian sausage lasagna with a meatball and I had the manicotti with blackened chicken then we finished it off with tiramisu for dessert. We are so happy with our choices and our waiter was a big help, thank you Jacob! We will be back!

Very out of the Way small totally Authentic Italian Restaurant in Folly Beach. Go Early as in 5PM or be prepared to Wait... They do not take reservations but they have an outdoor bar (tiny), great drinks and wine and it is pleasant this time of year to wait. We sat at the outdoor bar(got there early) and it was as good Italian as we have had. My Italian husband was impressed!! I had the piscatore' which was incredible!! Portions are huge!! Our friends who took us are local and she had salmon and he had scallops all fresh and wonderful!! the Chocolate cake (order early as they generally run out) is as decadent as it comes but sooooooooo good!!!! It is a loud inside so be prepared. It is casual, portions are large and be prepared to take some home unless you are a big eater. Service is excellent especially by today's standards. Try not to spread the word too much or you will never ger a table... Just kidding but definitely give it a try if you are in Charleston. Not but a 15 min drive from downtown.
