So nice, we went back for seconds in our 3 day trip.
My wife and I originally had reservations before dinner the first night to have some drinks and food. Adam greeted my wife by name, having remembered messaging with her on IG l, and thanked us for being there. Adam said it like he truly meant it and typically I only get that from my mom and dad.
My wife got the Bourbon & Clyde and I got the Doar Bros. Manhattan, which had recently been updated to an Oxtail fat washed Rye, which was a big part of the reason I ordered it because you don’t often get fat washed whiskey. Both did not disappoint. The silkiness of the rye was incredible. The drink was very balanced, exactly what you would ask for in a great cocktail. It was hard to decide what to get and we couldn’t get it all because we wanted to be able to walk out of there and be able to go back for drinks another time. Decisions.
We also got the Holy Mole Clarified Milk Punch. The attention to detail on their punches here is a sign they really care about great quality cocktails. The shrimp and the Brown Butter Popcorn were both great. Truffle, butter, and popcorn… What’s not to like?
We ended up back here the next night after we finished dinner and the place we planned to go to afterwards was hard to get a seat at. We knew we loved Doar Bros so we went back. I’m so glad we did.
Adam greeted us again and thanked us for coming back. He was able to seat us at the bar and we hung there for a bit. I got the Card-A-Mom and my wife got the Old Cuban. Both had great flavor profiles. Old Cuban was bright and the hint of bubbles makes it feel special. The Card-A-Mom was fresh from the citrus, then you get the Yellow Chartreuse and just a hint of spice from the black tea at the end. We got the assorted cheese tray, which was delicious. Cheeses and accoutrements were a great selection and the bread was fresh and soft.
I got a second drink that night and asked for dealers choice and the bartender made me something off the cuff. Calvados, Cocchi Americano, citrus and a spritz of Absinthe made this the perfect night cap. Let’s call it a Charleston Corpse Reviver No. 2, although it was not named. The bartender was very friendly and still making drinks with ease. That’s a great bartender, i.e. literally tending to the bar.
All the drinks and food you could tell has had serious thought put into them.
Can’t wait to go back. If you even read this far, go here. Then go again. Keep going and leave them a great review so we can come back on our next trip.
Small quaint but lively cocktail lounge. We stopped here before dinner and were impressed! I got an espresso martini and one whiskey drink, both outstanding! My wife got a mocktail and said it was tasty and refreshing. Next, we got the strawberry bruschetta they had on special. The strawberries were mixed in with tomatoes and pomegranate seeds, poured over the top of buratta, served with warm bruchetta. This was refreshing and extremely tasty. Now, for one of the best bites of my entire weekend in Charleston, the popcorn, which was mixed with truffle, parmesan reggiano and chives. This was so flavorful, so tasty and was the perfect compliment to a craft cocktail.
Doar Bros was hands down the best cocktail bar we have ever been to (and man have we been to a lot of cocktail bars). First off, the atmosphere is so welcoming. The décor inside makes you want to come in and stay for a long time. The service was wonderful, our bartender Stephen clearly cared about every guest who walked in the door. Most importantly, every cocktail we tried was absolutely delicious. Make this a MUST visit on your next trip to Charleston.
Great cocktails, chill vibe, extremely friendly staff! Lately this has been one of our go-to spots for when we have out of town friends visit. Pretty limited food menu, but everything is very tasty!
As good as it gets for a quick & interesting cocktail on the peninsula. Definitely your best bet if you’re down by the market area (for whatever reason), Doar Bros is a tiny spot with limited seating but somehow always has a table available when I’ve been. Super interesting menu of classics and stuff pushing the boundaries, every drink I’ve had is fantastic. This intimate place feels classy, your drinks will look classy, and that’s all a winning combo to bring you a nice night.
Great service and cocktails. Particularly enjoyed the espresso martini. Loses a star because they had the door open with the a/c running in the middle of a global climate crisis. For some reason many establishments think this is ok. It isn't. Ironically Charleston will be one of the first places under water.
This place has terrific cocktails and a great vibe. The staff is very friendly and willing to modify any cocktails to suit your tastes. A must visit during a trip to downtown Charleston.
We searched up a bar near our hotel after an oyster dinner that left us a little underwhelmed. The place is cozy (I think there is already an apt description calling it “snug”). I felt as if I was shown into a special room at a friend’s house. This “friend” is a masterful mixologist and has other friends who make you feel welcome, and well cared for. Eye contact and body language experts are they. The cocktail menu was amazing and the little food offerings were perfect for a little something-something to chase a cocktail either pre- or post- dinner. Thank you! 🙏

This place is a whole vibe. Refined and laid back at the same time… a bar with true southern charm and class. Decadent little bites and delicious cocktails. It’s a great spot for happy hour or after dinner drinks.
Stopping for a drink (or 3) here is an absolute MUST when visit Charleston!! My husband found this cute little bar during our visit to charleston last year, and we were so excited to come back to it again!! BEST Manhattans ever, and you definitely need to try the Bourbon & Clyde. We love everything about this place and can’t wait to come back again!
