This place has a casual Caribbean feel. Lots of island inspired drinks, frozen pina coladas and daily sangrias ready to go. There is an outdoor patio with a full service bar and seating. Also in the back is a stage for live music. The empanadas are a must as well as the tostones. Try everything on the menu with a large group, its a tapas environment!

I had a great experience here. It started with our bartender, Chris. I'm not a big cocktail guy so the menu was a little overwhelming as I had no idea what I was looking at. Chris had no problem explaining each drink. I ended up ordering the "Manhattan with Rum," as he called it. Then we ordered the coconut shrimp to start off and it was fantastic. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and you could actually taste the coconut part of it. It also came with a great mango sauce and green papaya salad. Next we ordered a short rib dish over rice and the coconut greens. The short rib dish on its own was good but the greens were something straight from heaven. We finished off with the best pina colada I've ever had. I can't wait to go back. They had New Belgium Dayblazers for only $3 so it's also a good place if you want to get a good affordable beer in Charleston (which is hard to find). Overall I was very impressed. This may be my new favorite restaurant in Charleston.

Delicioso! And what a delight to find such complimentary brunch fare on this humid Sunday. Outside in the remodeled patio of the once wild & hip King Dusko, sat a table of 12 hungry brunchers. The back patio has its own bar and shade (and even a little deck for future live music perhaps?) The food - We only heard happy oohs, awhs, and murmurs while forks were passed left and right. I ordered the Vertical Roots Cobb salad (which was served at Pass the Peas at this year's bangin' High Water Fest) and my Mr. had the cuban with mojo (both pictured, too bad the internet has yet to create a proper scratch and sniff). But I was lucky enough to try the Getway Benedict (with a tasty vinaigrette instead of heavy cream which complimented the eggies wondrously) and the Softshell crab dish (perfectly prepared), and the summer squash (light and airy), AND a few nibbles of the chicken tinga (which would've cured my hangover, had I had one). Emily Hahn really nailed it. And of course, the service was Charleston perfect. Will certainly be adding this to my regular brunch cycles.

Absolutely gorgeous space, exciting and well-priced drinks, and smart staff. Graham Greene would love it here. Next time I’m in Charleston I’m stopping at The Getaway first!

This place is dope! The chef really knows what he/she is doing and has designed an awesome menu. My girlfriend and I came in the late afternoon just to phone-in a conference call, have a drink and a quick bite. All we ordered was the Chapa Bread and we were honestly stunned how great it was. Definitely will return if we get the chance. Also, the environment is amazing, great outdoor hangout area.

The space is beautiful, indoors and out. Service was solid and friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed the food, and ordered seconds. Prices are reasonable, just ask your server to make sure the portion is what you expect. I have to recommend the fish soup in particular. There is a good variety of drinks, one for every budget. A good place to hang out.

Love the mojito frozen drink on tap. Have had a few smalled plates some hits and some misses. Fantastic back patio area worth checking out. I find the service to be a bit aloof

My husband and I were out for dinner hoping for no long waits an great food + drinks. THIS PLACE was everything we were looking for! The mojitos reminded me of a memorable trip to Mexico and the empenadas were better than my grandmothers. Franky took care of us all night and even answered our endless questions on drinks. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone looking for a real Getaway without the stuffiness of a fancy restaurant.

Stunning location with outstanding cocktails and a friendly owner. Very much the right spot for an end of evening drink(s). Interior is among the nicest I’ve seen in a bar. Looking toward to returning.
