If you like a dark old dive bar, this is the spot for you. Staff is wonderful. Food is surprisingly good! Plenty of parking across the street (be extremely careful crossing King St.) Pool table with cues that are not warped! Fun activities almost every night of the week. The paper airplane contest is a crowd pleaser! There are reasons why this bar is legendary in Charleston!
This place is exactly what you would expect it to be and more! Having lived in Charleston for many years I finally made my way into this "divey" bar next to an overpass and I was pleasantly surprised. There was a paper airplane contest going on in the middle of the bar and an MC was on the mic reffing it. Later a DJ came on and people started dancing, on a Wednesday night! The bartenders and staff in general were very friendly and I recommend this place. Didn't eat there but my friend had a salad which they said was good.
Best way to describe this is a dark dive bar with great food. They also have a good selection of ciders if you’re not a beer drinker. This is a cornerstone of the Charleston dive bar scene. The food is delightful, and some of the best prices you’ll see in Charleston. I can’t remember the last time I paid under $20 for multiple drinks and food.

Came here because of the things I read online. and they were dead on. pretty much a nicer dive bar. bar tenders are fast and friendly. on Mondays that's the day I came they have 1.25 pbr cans and double long islands for 4.00 Bar isn't to big just cozy. I would not recommend the wings. It's like baked chicken with sauce 😯
it was awesome PBR recovery. glad to help the cause!
PBR
$1.50 12 oz happy hour
Pretty cool dive bar. Good music, cheap drinks considering location, carry PBR at $1.25 per can (this got them their 4th star from me). Crowd skews younger (20s to 30s). Bartenders weren’t very friendly, but they usually aren’t at these kind of joints.
excellent dive bar. great prices and service + paper airplane racing Thursday nights
Very chill atmosphere, great cheap bar food and drinks, cool and friendly bartenders(Shout out to Mark,George, Cash, and the rest of the crew) I gotta warn you something, You going to dealing with some funny odd a$$ ish. But it's a dive bar your going to expect that either way lol. But on serious note if you are in Charleston looking for a good time for cheap, you gotta visit this bar.
Better prices than in town and nobody's dressed like they're going to junior high school prom
We had a nice time here Sunday afternoon, playing pool and watching football. The tab was surprisingly low.
I've come to this place about 2 months pretty consistently and it's always good things going on. No drama, everyone's cool and nice. Nothing bad to say. Food is awesome, atmosphere is great, and the vibe is always moving in a positive motion!
Let me tell you, Recovery Room is truly a fantastic bar. It's a tremendous place, the best. The drinks are the best, the best I've ever had. Believe me, I know bars and this one is a winner. The atmosphere is fantastic, it's tremendous. People are always talking about it, it's a hot spot. A lot of people go there, it's very popular. I highly recommend it, it's a great place. So great, I wrote a haiku on PBR and the bar.
Recovery Room's charm
Friendly folks and cold brews galore
Best bar, forever
PBR, a brew
Simple, crisp, and affordable
A classic, always
I had a great time whilst visiting Charleston on Trivia night. Those wings were PFG too!
Loved this dive bar! Will definitely go back
The epitome of a dive bar, one of the best. The graffiti in the bathroom is legendary, everything smells like dive bar and the bartenders are fantastic. They once accidentally got #2 in the country for PBR sales, so the next year they actually tried and got #1. Hipsters and weirdos galore, mixed with the occasional crew dressed to the 9s either at the beginning or end of a night out.
Love this place. Drinks are well priced, the bartenders are all very cool and down to earth considering the sometimes chaotic nature of the bar. They have multiple specials throughout the week. Personally, my friends and I love trivia night and we go to it almost every thursday night at 8:45.
