Incredible menu, service & decor! My daughter is a freshman at College of Charleston & has been craving Vietnamese food since moving from NJ. The OG Garlic Noodles with pulled pork & pickled red onions was beyond delicious. Cannot wait to stop by this lovely & comfy spot in Little Jerusalem. You must try it!
We had the Garlic KFC Wings and the Hot and Spicy Chicken Noodles. Food was flavorful and well presented. The service was spot on, being helpful and attentive.
I dine out all over the country: Austin Tx, NYC, Portland Oregon, LA, San Fran, etc. This was very good , and the folks care about what they are doing. They deserve 5 Stars and you should treat yourself to their food.
Went there with a group of three, we were sat quickly though we didn’t have reservations. The host and waiter were very kind. The atmosphere is very chill which is nice to be able to relax after having some fancy meals in previous days. The food came out pretty quickly and though fast it was very flavorful and delicious. If you’re visiting from out of town or just in the mood for some Vietnamese food, I would highly recommend this place.
Pros: Best noodles I’ve ever had, hands down. The wings are also pretty darn good. Wings/dumplings are severely over priced for what you get(6 wings or dumplings). Noodles could be a bit cheaper but their servings are massive and one serving of noodles will leave you very full or could be split in half. Interior looks super cool.
Cons: pretty expensive, they sit at the very top of the price I’d pay for noodles.
Food is super rich, hard to eat a full serving and you feel a bit gross afterwards.
Have gotten to go from here 3 times and every time they are about 5 mins late with the food.
All of that said, everyone should try the OG garlic noodles at least once. Hard to describe how awesome they are. P.S. add the poached egg, it’s worth it.
This is definitely my favorite restaurant right now. Before a vacation, I made sure to eat here the day before we left and came back the day we arrived. It’s addictive! I get the OG noodles minus onions, sometimes I add the poached egg. The spicy lamb dumplings are the best thing on the small plates menu. Strongly recommend the limeade, with or without alcohol!
Absolutely tasty. We had the lamb dumplings, veggie dumplings, fingerling potatoes, and spicy noodles. Best meal of our weekend in town. Great service, great aesthetic, phenomenal food!
During our stay in Charleston, we found Pink Bellies and the best Asian food we have had in the South to date. It was so good we went back the next day. The cocktails were great, food delicious, staff friendly, efficient especially James and the manager Michael. Took great care of all customers, and we enjoyed the conversation with them too. We will visit again next time in Charleston.😎👍🏾
Easily some of the most unique and elaborate decor I’ve ever seen in a restaurant, even the chopsticks and drinkware were works of art. The staff was incredible, music was great, and I haven’t even gotten to the food yet. We had the Garlic KFC Wings, OG Garlic Noodles, one of the dumpling dishes, and the “Thai-Mar-Tea-Ni”, all of which were outstanding. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Let me start by saying I love the name of this place. Something about it conjures up the full, happy bellies of hairless baby animals after a thorough feeding. The service was good. Friendly staff and beautiful, whimsy restaurant.
Now, the most surprising thing we ordered that I absolutely found nostalgic and delicious was the spicy lomein noodle dish. I haven't had lomein since two decades ago when I used to order it from the greasy Chinese joint for late night study sessions in college. The lamb perogis were a little strong for me, but still tasty. I didn't care for the Gerry's chicken because it was a little sour for my taste and not as crunchy. Also, I wish they offered sides of rice a la cart. I like to double-carb my noodles. 😆
Pink Bellies is a great Vietnamese restaurant in a modern space. The staff were all friendly and accommodating. Jeremiah was funny, knowledgeable and all-around great!
They have an original and unique cocktail menu. I had the drink with Suntori, Passion Fruit and lemon grass. It was refreshing.
We split the Fish Sauce Brussels Sprouts which we’re friend to a crispy perfection. The fish sauce is a fantastic accompaniment. The Garlic KFC wings were also perfectly crisp and the sauce was delicious. We ended up dipping our Brussels in that as well.
I had the Hot & Spicy Chicken Noodles which were chewy, spicy and everything you want in a noodle.
Overall it was a great experience.
I would definitely make a reservation as there was a line of people waiting for tables. Service was quick, but they did seem understaffed like most place these days.
Had dinner at the bar as I was on my own having left my son for his first night of college at his dorm. The menu was unusual, avocado chips, fish sauce in a cocktail but didn't disappoint. The highlight was chatting to the bar person, Channing, who knocked up some awesome cocktails and taught me a few things about being a student at the College of Charleston. My first encounter of a computer science major working the bar but despite looking 19 at the oldest he assured me he was 21. The cocktails were turned out at lightning speed and the passion fruit bombay gin one I tried was delicious as was the food.
Was also by far the cheapest meal I had in town. Will definately be back!
Great food! Great Aesthetics! Helpful staff. Amazing Chopsticks. Well lit. Overall, great place to dine in. Although with limited Vegetarian options, a great place to eat at!
Unique Vietnamese restaurant with select flavorful menu! First time visiting, husband and I were not disappointed. I was not keen on fried foods but the flavors were actually so fresh that it did not seem fried at all! Brussel Sprouts, dumplings and fried ramen we shared and was definitely satisfying. Didn't dive into desserts but they looked divine.
There were many new options to try compared to the food truck days, but the perfect balance of favors and textures are still there. My husband and I couldn’t stop debating between the Realist or the seasonal crab bun mi after our meal. By the end of the night- we concluded that anything Thai creates would be mind blowing.
During dinner my husband and I got quiet after the first bite of the big softie. It’s mind boggling how good it taste. Y’all must go and try the soft shell crab bun mi before the season ends.
Besides the food- the service was phenomenal. They were kind and attentive. The music and the vibe was just right for a relaxing and chill atmosphere.
Beautifully designed restaurant with a great atmosphere and exciting menu, reminiscent of trendy restaurants in Los Angeles. We ordered the OG Garlic Noodles, KFC wings, Siu Cao dumplings, and Nuoc Cham Brussel sprouts. Everything was SO tasty, but the garlic noodles were our favorite plate of the night. Definitely recommend adding the poached egg for a creamy element that really takes the noods to the next level. The dishes are very unique and not to be written off as your standard asian-fusion restaurant meal. Amazing food and overall amazing dining experience. Cannot wait to come back!
My family is in town. We brought them to Pink Bellies. We tried every noodle dish on the menu. Enjoyed the dumplings. Highly recommend if in Charleston or coming to visit. Benefit if you have kids in tow you can color a picture to display on the walls in the restaurant.
Surpassed the hype. Ordered dumplings with shrimp and pork inside, KFC Wings, Animal Burger, Hot and Spicy Beef Noodle, the Snow Crab and Garlic Noodles, and the Fried Chicken Ice Cream.
My son had the burger and was losing his mind how good it was, we shared everything else between him, and my lady.
Noods were sublime, and on opposite ends of the spectrum, as one was complex and the other very simple and executed flawlessly.
Dumplings were fantastic and the wings were tasty. Fried Chicken Ice Cream was super dope.
Will definitely be back. Bravo!
