we don't know such a good restaurant having this much star their is problem in the zomato ..Sitar is the my favorite restaurant in Charleston .awesome food and everything
Very good to have a today dinner in our city ...........................................awesome....delicious................................
Definitely my personal favorite!. I have eaten at several Indian restaurants; spanning from NYC to Florida. Although Sitar has run through a few management (and sometimes recipe) changes, it is still my absolute favorite. Just the right amount if spice (I'm not a fan of the bland)...which is what puts Sitar leaps and bounds above Little India in my opinion.
Free parking! Great food! New design! Sitar of India is making a comeback. The food has gotten extraordinary better, we had the chicken tikka masala and dal makhni with naan. The atomism here was surprisingly well. Best indian food for sure that is in town. Certainly
LOVE Sitar!!. My husband and I eat at Sitar once a week! And even with that, I still crave it! Great staff and excellent spice! The medium plus is just what my tummy ordered ;)
LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!. Love this place! Have eaten there once a week for about 5 years! May miss a week or two but we always go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tried another Indian place on the East End and didn't like it at all!!!
I love the sitar, different Indian food that I'm used too. They cater for a group I belonged too, and the selection was always good. Love the curry.
Great food. This seemed like the best choice for indian food in the area so I tried it out and discovered it really is one of the best places I've eaten at. Try the Chicken Tikka Masala, Saag Paneer and veggie Pakoras. Those are excellent dishes here!
Okay...... The buffet is generally pleasing (if you visit on certain days), but the staff can be rather fussy.
Wondermous.. Service was fast. It's the fastest it's ever been. The food was wonderful and the servers were great. I will be returning.
Service was Very slow, the food was good and when they say hot, they mean hot
Sitar of India is, overall, a great place to dine in Charleston. I've tried many items on the menu, but the saag is by far my favorite. I think the vegetarian dishes are the best. The meat is typically dry, but I've found that to be true in other Indian restaurants as well. The decor is nice and I usually have good service.
The buffett is only for Monday Wed. & Fri. The meat dishes were very dry.
Very good!!. Satisfying and they know how to use the spices!!
Ok for lunch. Sitar of India is OK for a quick lunch because of the buffet but all in all most of the food tastes the same. All dishes tend to have the same spices and flavors. Dishes with chicken are so dry I can hardly swallow. The best stuff is the veggie dishes.
Thank Goodness for Sitar. It's a Charleston treasure. I've tried virtually everything on the menu, and I've never been let down. Lately, I've opted for the vegetarian items and they always come out warm, fresh, perfectly spiced, and more than enough to share. The atmosphere isn't the best in town, but it's one of my favorite food havens. Sitar is also great for take-out, and now open Sundays too!
I crave Sitar daily!. Before eating at Sitar, I had never experienced Indian cuisine. I will be eternally grateful for my friends who invited me to Sitar for my first time.
Sitar is amazing and has outstanding food.
Their lunch buffet is a great way to try Indian food for the first time. There's lots of variety and at the low price of $8.95, it's an inexpensive investment for the experience.
If you love Indian food, it's a great choice. If you've never eaten Indian cuisine before, it's a great place to start!
Smelling curry spice or hearing Sitar music makes me crave Chicken Korma.
Lunch buffet is MWF only. :)
Great feel, good food!. Sitar of India has a nice atmosphere clean, comfortable, and visually appealing. Everytime I have been here the severs were very friendly (one in particular is very shy but nice). Our servers have always been attentive and bring water refills frequently.
Your are served big portions. Two can split the curry chicken, pakoras and nan. We were very full by the end of the meal
Curry
I am a bit of a curry coniseur so this was the 1st dish I tried at Sitar of India. I'd recommend getting Medium if your use to spicy curry and Mild if your not
The curry at sitar of Indian is has a pretty good flavor but I think I would of preferred the flavor be a bit stronger...maybe I needed to order hot. We had Mild curry which was mild in my opinion but I like a bit of heat. It wasn't so much so that those of you who don't like spice couldn't survive however, if your worried just ask them to make it very mild as things are made to order...this might affect the overall flavor though depending on if the curry powder is pre mixed.. This is not to say that the dish was bad just that this type of dish is not my preference. Every thing on the buffet is flavorful. My brother who is 15 and never likes any ethnic foods downed two cups of Mangolassi before we left.
All of their pakoras are Amazingly flavorful my favorite is the cheese Pakora.
They offer a nice selection of traditional desserts and drinks. The masala tea is wonderful especially if your trying to relax.
UPDATE: I went to the buffet today 9/2/10 and the food was great! very flavorful! Decent selection I also ordered medium Chana Masala and its Amazing some of the best I've had since I was in India.
Overall good fresh food, Some dishes are a little pricey but big enough to split and worth the money!
Our Family Favorite. This is the #1 choice for our family of four which includes a nine- and seven-year-old. The kids love the chicken curry, garlic naan, and the mango lassis and we parents crave the shahi paneer korma. Divine
Only Indian food in town - but great. When I travel outside WV, I always visit the local Indian restaurants. I have not found any better - in NYC, Washington, DC or my home town of Minneapolis. For special occassions, I often go to Satir. Keep up the great food. I have brought many guests, including experts on Indian food, and everyone has loved the food, comparing to any they have visited all over the US.
A gem. One of the things I love about Indian restaurants is that they are always run by Indian people. It's true to what Indian people would cook at home. And the folks here do it better than almost any Indian restaurant I've seen (and I've eaten at Indian restaurants on three continents).
Spice is perfect, lamb is tender, naan is crisp at the edges, pakoras, samosas, and aloo tikki are tangy and excellent. Masala Tea is soothing.
The lunch buffet is back MWF. Get some.
Like it!. I LOVE Sitar! I actually have cravings for Sitar that I can't deny. It is spiced just right. They can accommodate large crowds. Sometimes the service can be a bit slow, but it is worth the wait. I always get the Saag Paneer with garlic Nan. It is fantastic. They recently brought back the lunch buffet too!
Overall, I would say Sitar of India is a good place to eat, and I should definitely go back there when they have their buffet so I can see the names of the mysterious things I am eating.
An about random visitor to the place since my husband was craving for Indian food and it was a amazing experience!! The food was Amazing, the service was also pretty good!! Will visit again if in the area
This place is amazing honestly to me it is 10 stars. I basically grew up on this Indian food. My father found this place while my mother was pregnant craving the Indian food she missed from her overseas. She ate it at least three times a week then. Over the years we have seen different owners come and go, but the food still keeps it amazing quality. The price is extremely reasonable and the hot is perfect!! The have the best garlic naan. I’ve tried many Indian places and definitely some come close, but very few and far between. I’ll definitely be making a stop back when I’m in town. The mango lassie is my favorite perfect sweetness to balance out the hot food.
The food from their buffet, and the service was excellent! The restaurant is latex-free because the manager is allergic, so it is safe for my fellow latex allergy sufferers. Extra points for being fully handicap accessible, and nobody seemed surprised that I was in a wheelchair. I highly recommend this restaurant, all the food was excellent, but my favorite dish is the curry chicken.
Love the food!! Get it as hot or mild as you'd like. Wait time is always short and everyone there is friendly. Stop by for the lunch buffet to try a number of their most popular offerings.
Absolutely, the best restaurant in West Virginia!! I've been to many Indian restaurants from Florida to NY, and Sitar beats them all!! The owner/staff are all super friendly, thus the reason I'm a 20+ year patron of Sitar. Oh, and if I may suggest a dish, order Chicken Kashmiri and
Onion Naan. Mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
