When wanting a good hotdog, you got to try one of JJ's Red Hots. Husband had #1 Red Hot and I had the Char-Heel. (My favorite is the hey-hey fry but it's not on menu anymore). The sides are great too. I always get the Borracho beans and hubby gets their amazing onion rings. Love the "pickled" bar too.

On my most recent trip to Charlotte my friends brought me here to JJ's Red Hots for lunch. Not being a Charlotte native I had never heard of the place, however I was apparently in line at "One of the best hot dog joints on the planet" according to the signage inside. As you walk through the line you'll see a large menu board with many options from Signature Hot Dogs to Build Your Own Hot Dogs. My menu solution was a signature dog called 'The Char Heel (Carolina Style)'. This dog came with house chili, slaw, onions and yellow mustard. On the side I had them fill the basket with Tater Tots. Another Hot Dog on the table was the 'Southern Girl' which comes with Pimento cheese, slaw, bacon and hot blonde mustard. The last entree was the 'Kasekreiner'. It's the monster of the bunch with Austrian beef & pork sausage stuffed with Emmentaler Cheese served with sauerkraut, pickled red onion & house made horseradish mustard. That just sounds like a 3 alarm fire. Both of the last entree's also came with house onion rings on the side. I have to say that my meal here was totally filling. The whole thing was huge and ultimately a bit messy. I guess the best way to say it was the more you ate, the messier it became. However no complaints, it was delicious and I wish we had a place like JJ's up in Coastal Virginia. I'd love to come here again on a future Charlotte visit. Oh and by the way, JJ's is "One of the best hot dog joints on the planet". No doubt about it!

Great hot dogs !! Loved the Carolina dog with no mustard,,,,ask for the whole beef dog for no extra charge though,,,,great fries and onion rings !! My only advice would be to put less mustard on them :) thank you for the best dog around!

I heard about JJ’s on Triple D, so I knew I had to check it out. The shop has a nice vintage feel to it, and the staff was helpful and had a great attitude! The dog was great, the bun was fresh and not greasy, and the onion rings were nice and crispy. 10/10 would visit again!

Pricey. Several hot dog selections. Combos. Weekday specials on hot dogs. Sausage dogs available (acquired taste). Chicago style dogs are my favorite; the juices just burst in your mouth full of flavor and spice. The sweat tea is southern fresh. Fries are good. Bar area. Inside/outside seating (ceiling fan outside). Service was good. Establishment was clean. Polite and respectful staff. Wheelchair accessible.

1st time here and it's was great. I haven't had a hot dog this good since I was a kid living in Columbia going to Sandy's Hot Dogs (back in the 80's). It's hard to find a great Carolina Slaw Dog here in Charlotte and this place has got them! The onion rings & house made chips are great also!

The place is a really nice. Cool spot to just hang out. The options are endless and the staff is pretty awesome. I am from NJ so I couldn't give this place a 5 star because it can't compare to my hot dog spot up North. Sorry guys but it was a good experience. Truly. This is a place you must try for yourself if you're in Charlotte and you love the dogs!!!!

Had our first experience today and we're hooked! We wanted to try this place for a while now, seeing it featured on Diners, Drive-in & Dives gave us an extra nudge. Ordered the chili cheese coney combo with house chips and it's LEGIT!!!! By far the best chili on a dog I've ever had. It was so good, I jumped back in line to order another dog. Nice customer service, clean and relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Great dogs , ,$2 dogs and $3 craft beer. That's awesome. I've been looking for a place for good hot dogs. Think I found it hot dogs on Tuesday, $3 bratwurst on Thursdays great. Oh yeah I wanted to tell you service was awesome too

Favorite Restaurant of my grandson. It was his choice after hockey practice. The seven of us had numerous choices on their expansive menu. Check out their weekly specials. Great deals. Great food. The food came out quickly. Everyone was pleased with their meals and went home stuffed. Do not forget an order of their onion rings. It is now one of my favorites.

I eat here maybe once a month. They have a decent selection of beer and a family friendly environment. The food has always been good, so no complaints there. The only reason I did 4 stars instead of 5 is because that last time I went there I ordered a dog that was supposed to have a pretzel bun, but instead of telling me they were out of pretzel buns at the register they just served it to me on a regular bun and then told me they were out of the pretzel buns. The hot dog was still good and I wasn't going to let it go to waste, but the only reason I ordered that particular one was for the pretzel bun. Bottom line: Good food, laid back place to eat with friends/family. Will go there again and would recommend to others.

Really enjoyed the variety in hit dog toppings. The tater tots are absolutely fabulous. I will definitely be back. Didn't notice beer until after I had already ordered, but it looks like a good selection including a lot of craft beers.

Best hot dogs ever. Kind of expensive for just a hot dog, but oh well. I always get the double dog combo, i get 2 quarter hounders <—— great hot dogs if you don’t know which to pick. Definitely fills you up, plus you get a side too. 12-14$ i think. Definitely come here more than i probably should :)

As a native Chicagoan I'm sworn to Chicago dogs on Vienna Beef...but JJ's is a close second in my book. The Joliet Jake is a close runner up. If you're looking for a variety in hot dog styles this is the place...from the No 1 red hot and the Carolina dog (my faves) you can't miss. My wife loves the chicken tenders as she's not a hot dog fan. I would be remiss if I failed to mention the fries and onion rings as they are a perfect compliment to their offerings. Great food combined with a friendly and awesome staff that appears to be having fun churning out great food, this place is a can't miss in the Charlotte area.
