The foods are fresh and delicious. Nick is an exceptional waiter and he makes our dining experiences more enjoyable. We had a great time there. We would come back soon.

It is hard to find good service in 2023. At Yama, the service is amazing. The waiter was friendly, respectful and professional. The food was good. I will describe it as Americanized Asian cuisine.

Best sushi in charlotte hands down. Maya is our go to waitress! The guys at the sushi bar are some of the nicest chefs out there! Always feel taken care of when we go to Yama!

I'm between 4 and 5 stars. I like the space and overall atmosphere, and my first impression of the sushi is that it's pretty good. Certainly an above average nigiri list and all the fish I had were quite fresh. The uni in particular was quite good. With that said - considering the greater Charlotte area, it's a little short of really blowing me away. Still, I'd call this a solid choice and would happily go back.

I have been to every restaurant in Waverly except Yama, so I had to check it out. I went there for lunch and ordered the spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls, and they were very good. My date ordered the Chicken Teriyak, and she enjoyed it. The next time I come back to Yama, I will go for dinner.

Vary, nice experience. Highly recommend the magic rolls and crunchy. I also liked the fried calamari.

YAMA cleanliness, amazing staff, and delicious food are the few leading reasons why I enjoy returning to this restaurant!! Compared to some places, my family and I felt Welcomed every time we walked into this restaurant!! Aaron in particular, has demonstrated implacable mannerism and professionalism! Thank you Aaron for being so kind and attentive each time my family and I visited YAMA. We are now repeat customers and highly recommend others to give this restaurant a try! *teriyaki salmon (lunch portion) *teriyaki shrimp *fried rice *seaweed salad *ginger salad

We came here for lunch on a Friday and it was decently busy. They have a patio, but unfortunately, they only put a few tables out there even though it's mostly empty and there is plenty of space for more. This seems like an odd choice when there is nice weather and there's a pandemic that makes eating outside safer. We ate inside since the few tables outside were full when we got there. Three of us split: - Snow Roll - Lobster Roll - Totoro Roll - Naughty Akami Roll I really enjoyed the Lobster Roll and Totoro Roll. The Naughty Akami Roll was pretty good too. The Snow Roll was pretty boring to me. The fish was fresh though. The sushi rolls were pretty small. If you're looking for a light lunch this would work, but we were all hungry after we left.

4.5 rounded up, -0.5 stars overall for slow service and value for money Food: 5/5 Everything was delicious. If you’re looking for legit, amazing sushi/sashimi, this is it. Quality fish and fantastic execution. Tuna totoro was definitely the star of dinner. Service: 4/5 We were seated promptly even on a busy Saturday night, and our server was amazing! Her recommendations were great, and she was very attentive and friendly. However, this is the longest meal of sushi ever - 2.5 hours for 1 appetizer, 1 small dish, and 2 rolls. We did order another roll in the middle of the meal, but waiting a whole hour for 1 more roll seems excessive. Ambiance: 5/5 Feels nice enough so if you dress up you won’t stand out, but casual enough to wear a t shirt and basketball shorts. Perfect for a date night or if you just want to treat yourself to a nice dining experience. The bar is beautiful if you wanted to sit there. Value: 4/5 This place is overpriced. Anything with sashimi was TINY, the smallest portion sizes I’ve ever seen from a sushi restaurant, even upscale ones! Yes, the quality is there, but it’s on par / more expensive than sushi in LA.

I don’t eat sushi often at all. But I thought the food here was excellent, lots of options and felt very healthy overall. Would definitely go back.

I was in Shallotte, NC for the weekend with my love. This place was pack by 5:30 pm. The waiting time for the table will be 25-30 minutes. We decided to sit outside and our orders came fairly quickly. The sushi was AMAZINGLY Fresh!! Every dish that we orders were delicious, my love agreed and he hardly agreed with my taste of sushi because he is from Japan 🎑. It would be more enjoyable if the owner would install the outdoor fans so we can enjoy the food a bit more.

Great atmosphere with a large open space. Service was fantastic. Apps and sushi were really good. Definitely will be back. Parking can be a pain in Waverly but it's worth the walk.

Kids loved the edamame, kalbi (although it was a low ratio of meat to fat and bone), and especially the udon noodles with just sauce, no veggies. The udon had a nice chewy texture and we ordered another serving. We had the nigata roll, spider roll and naughty akami. All of it was good. Edit: the mushroom appetizer was good too

Decent amount of parking. Waiters are friendly. The food tastes great, I highly recommend the Maison sushi roll (maybe I spelt it around). Sushi was kind of better than the other teryaki dishes. Only reason I gave 4 not 5 was because the slow service, it wasn't even a weekend, it was a Tuesday night. It took 15 or 20 mins for someone to take our order and food took decent time to get there.

Nice little spot. Enjoyed my experience. I was sat at the sushi bar. My sushi and waitress were great. I’d love to come back and try one of their hibachi or stir fry dishes. Very clean restaurant as well.
