While on a fast Charlotte run, we found this converted gas station eatery on Google. The entire neighborhood smelled heavenly, as the smoker was working hard. We split the Sampler plate with collards and Brunswick Stew. It contained 2 ribs, beautifully charred beef brisket, and a generous amount of pork, which the server chops in front of you on a wooden board. Straight smoked meat, add any of their 4 sauces if desired. Being from SC, the mustard sauce was really good. Eat outside on the covered patio and enjoy the fall weather. Very friendly staff.

If you love the local, uncommercialized, real backyard BBQ, this is the place. The staff made me feel at home. The food was amazing - fall off the bone ribs, the brisket (my favorite) was tender and delicious. Everything was full of flavor - the collards, the green beans, everything! I felt like I was a kid again and at a large family gathering with pitmasters working their craft. I hope you enjoy as I did.

Decent BBQ! The sausage was really good and pork sandwich wasn't exceptional but was one of the better pork sandwiches I've had in Charlotte. Plenty of food and sides were good.

It was good BBQ but not my favorite. The baked beans were like a sweet, chili flavor. The Mac n cheese was basic. My husband really like the sausage and the hash over rice. He felt it was unique from what he could get at other places.

The Sweet tea was so good. The potato salad was great as well as the hushpuppies were amazing to. The brisket and wings were really good. The chopped pork and ribs looked good but were tasteless. They must have good sausage because they were out.

Sweet Lew’s is one of my go-to BBQ spot. The brisket is always great! All of the BBQ meat we’ve had from here has been delicious. The only downside is the Mac & Cheese could use some love.

We are from out of state and came to Sweet Lewis for dinner to take to our air b&b. Kamari and Angie were so helpful and friendly! The food we got was delicious! You should give them a try. I loved the sausage and the pulled pork. Collard greens were also very tasty! Super potato salad. Actually, nothing was less than delicious!

We got here at 11:30 on a Friday afternoon, place was packed within 5 minutes. They have a good size parking lot and plenty of nearby parking. Staff was helpful and gave me options of adding entrees as a side when I couldn't make up my mind. The food prep time is very quick, appeared to all be pre-made and served cafeteria style. The ribs were smoky and flavorful, tons of meat and no sauce needed. Very impressed with the flavor of the chopped pork as well. The collard greens were perfect and not soggy, and the mac-n-cheese was delicious. Perfect boiled peanuts! They have sauces, which I personally like because of the vinegar base taste, but the meat was so good you don't need any sauce. They have a good selection of local beers and a medium size indoor dining room with a large outdoor uncovered patio. Go hungry, huge portions. We'll definitely be back!

Incredible bbq! I got the NC Pork plate with the baked beans and collard greens and everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Seth and Keah were so friendly and kind. Definitely gotta check this place out if you’re near Charlotte!

I got the sampler which consisted of pork, ribs and brisket. Was very tasty and so much food. Enough for two people for sure. I ended up with leftovers. The sweet tea was exactly what southern tea is supposed to be, good, refreshing and sweet. I deducted one star because the Mac seemed extremely salty to me. I couldn’t finish it. But I would try again, maybe just this batch the cook had a heavy hand with the salt. But the cucumber and onion melody was delish. Very fresh and a great compliment to the smoked meats. And wings were $2 today so I decided to get some to go to try them. I tried one before I left and they were piping off fresh off the smoker. Great flavor

My wife and I were introduced to Sweet Lew's by a friend and loved it so much, we were back again just a few days later. The food was amazing (kudos to Lew!), as was the service (Kia, Kamari and Angie are so nice and friendly). On our first visit, I had the N.C. Pulled Pork Platter w/ Mac 'n Cheese (some of the best I've ever had), collard greens (added Texas Pete Pepper Vinegar) and two hush puppies. We split a banana pudding for dessert. It was so good, I had the same thing on our second visit. We expect to continue our weekly visits, and am looking forward to trying the brisket and barbecue chicken.

Seth and team delivered excellent service and made my first experience amazing. Would have given it 5 stars but I'm not a fan of the vinegary taste of the sauce but overall the food and atmosphere is amazing.

I had heard great things about this BBQ joint, and they were not wrong! We stopped by for dinner last night and everything was awesome from the moment we walked in. The customer service was outstanding. One of my friends asked if they did burnt ends and the person behind the counter said they didn't but if he had any he would give them to us. Then Lew came out and explained how wasteful it was to only do burnt ends if you couldn't sell that much brisket. He gave each of us a burnt end to go with our brisket plate. I also asked if he liked pork or beef ribs better and he gave me a combo of both. Let's talk about the food. We got one brisket combo and one rib combo. Between the ribs, I think I liked the pork more, but both were very good. I'm not usually a rib fan, but these were great. The real star was the brisket. It was definitely the best brisket I've ever had. I'm still thinking about how juicy and tender it was. Honestly, the sides didn't stand out that much to me, but they didn't need to because the meat was so good. We got mac and cheese, potatoes, coleslaw, and baked beans. The potatoes were my favorite. I wasn't a fan of the baked beans. The other two were ok. The service is super fast. They cut the meat for you right in front of you at the counter, scoop your sides, and you're good to go. Everything is made fresh daily. We got banana pudding for dessert and it didn't disappoint. It was probably the best I've had as well. I've had a lot of BBQ in Charlotte, but this is my new favorite. You can't beat how good their meats are. They have some sauces that are great, but I didn't even use them because the meat was so good on it's own. If you haven't been here, you're missing out!
