Sadly recently closed. Best Schezuan Chinese food in town, very spicy if you order from the Chinese menu, but you can ask to have it toned down. They still serve Japanese food as well, so you will have two menus. Only beer and wine available now, they no longer serve liquor.
It used to be that it was never too crowded, but always good. Now it gets busy but it's still always good. Only problem is the service, which is generally slow. That said, this is definitely a place worth eating at, especially for authentic food.
I read about this restaurant and had to try it because I've been searching for authentic Chinese in Charlotte. This place did not disappoint. Our waitress was so friendly. I asked her to recommend a beef dish for me and she chose the beef in hot oil. It was incredible, such great complex flavors. We also got a side of green beans which were great. I cannot wait to go back. Good prices too.
Omg! What just happened? I just had the greatest Chinese food I've ever eaten anywhere, EVER! My boss has been telling me about this place for the last 2 months, just raving about it. He told me when I go tell them you want "their OTHER menu". If you don't ask for it they have a standard fair menu. But their "other menu" has truly authentic Chinese cuisine that will scare the unadventurous with dishes like pig's kidneys and pork blood soup, etc. We ordered about 6 or 7 different pork, beef, fish dishes and sushi and everyone shared. Every dish was the best I'd ever had. I don't know what they do back in the kitchen and I don't WANT to know. I'm just trying to figure out how soon I can get back to this restaurant. If you're a fan of Chinese food...I mean, REALLY a fan, do NOT miss going here. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up... The place is also very clean and the staff is very attentive to you. Their English is "ok" and they will get you whatever you need but I can see how people might interpret then as rude but that's completely untrue. I just think language makes it difficult for them to express themselves so if you're sensitive go somewhere else but too bad you'll miss this gem.
This is the most authentic Chinese restaurant in Charlotte. If you want REAL Chinese dishes and spices this is the place to go! After living in China in multiple cities I really appreciate what they are cooking up. Pun intended lol. We had the stir fried potatoes with red peppers, the infamous garlic green beans with peppers, the traditional fried egg and tomato and chicken in dark sweet and sour sauce. DELICIOUS.
Love coming here every week with my coworkers and family. Sushi Buffet is phenomenal and includes a large variety of rolls with nigiri, rice bowls, spring rolls, and miso soup! Can't beat this place anywhere in Charlotte. The decor itself is exquisite along with great service. My favorite place to eat :)
I am a huge salmon fan and when I found this place next to the new clean juice bar I knew I had to try it. Sushi + clean juice?! What more could a girl ask for. Now the service was serverly lacking but they did let me get all salmon bento box (for an upcharge of three dollars) but I was really hungry and willing to try it out. I am glad I did because the salmon quality is pretty good compared to other places I have been! They have lunch specials and are relatively close to my house so I will 100% be going back. I personally like this better than New Zealand Cafe. The only thing I didn't like was the seaweed used for the rolls but I usually get sashimi and nigir anyway. But definitely worth a try!
This is exactly what you want from an authentic Chinese restaurant; typos on the menu, servers speaking mostly Chinese, tables full of mostly Chinese customers (and alot of older ones is a good sign too), and most importantly dishes with bullfrog & intestines on the first page. All signs of being in an "out of the box" Chinese restaurant that is new and exciting.
Originally came here the first time because we heard they had Soup Dumplings (Xiaolongbao), which were previously impossible to find in Charlotte. I've had these before in NY & DC, and have craved them, wishing we could get them here. They are minced pork balls, swimming in a soup broth, and wrapped in a dumpling dough. So many delicious layers in a little bite. A little expensive at 6 pieces for $10, but totally worth it!
Don't go here expecting your typical menu of beef & broccoli, sesame chicken & sweet & sour pork (although they do have Lo Mein, lol). Go here to explore authentic Schezuan food, that some of us have never tried or even heard of. The "hot clay pot" dishes are great here, as well as the salt & pepper shrimp, fish, and vegetable dishes. They took over an old Sushi restaurant, so they offer that as well, but i haven't tried it yet.
I will post pics of our most recent meal: soup dumplings, marbled beef & enoki mushrooms in spicy broth, and green beans with shredded dry pork.
Service was fast and friendly. Restaurant was clean, as well as nice bathrooms. Located almost next to Ilios Noche restaurant, a little hard to spot at first.
Best Chinese food I have ever had in my life. Ask for the Chinese menu not the sushi menu. Spicy Soft Shell Crab is one of my favorites along with Mapo Tofu. So many good items to choose from!
This isn't the name of the restaurant anymore. It use to be a sushi place. But its more a seafood and sushi place. I am not sushi person but my wife love it. But the seafood is really good and you gets your money worth. I love that their really personal and have excellent customer service.
Nice little spot in South Charlotte for sushi. It's usually empty in the day time, which is a shame because their food is good. Their regular menu is way better than the sushi all you can eat menu and worth the price, so if you have an option go with the regular menu.
We're always looking for authentic Chinese and knew Charlotte could deliver. The Crispy Whole Striped Bass was scrumptious; the best I've ever had. Everything we had was excellent including the Double-Cooked Pork, Sizzling Szechuan Chicken, Shrimp with bean curd and Blistered Green Beans. Highly recommend for authentic Chinese (Szechuan).
We had the Ma Po Tofu and the soup dumplings. The tofu came in a rich red sauce with ground meat, onion, and spices and was flavorful and a little spicy. The soup dumplings were pork and the broth was rich and delicious and the dumpling itself was just chewy enough. We can't wait to go back and try more of their Szechuan menu.
Really delicious. Not your typical Chinese restaurant... they have many authentic Szechuan options.... not just goopy Americanized Chinese. Enjoyed our visit and will be back!! It is worth trying. Yes, service may be a little slow, but just relax and and enjoy your meal!
