If I could leave ten stars I would, I know how to cook and it goes to show these folks do also. It is southern soul food at it’s best, not only is the food outstanding, but also is the service. I was greeted and taken care of as if I was a regular.

My review is more about the owner. He is fantastic if you have an issue! I was doubled charged for the mandatory gratuity fee and he took care of it on the spot. The waitress was not able to explain what happened so I went to him.
Great atmosphere on karaoke Friday. Unfortunately they ran out of a couple of food items and the waitress did not communicate that until after our food was brought out. Again the owner was so nice and gave us a seriously good piece of pound cake to make up for it!!
This is truly a beautifully run, community oriented restaurant that hits all the marks. The staff seems to be like a family and they treat you like a guest eating in their home. Big bright smiles, unrushed service, all wrapped into a cozy and comforting environment. When it comes to the food, it’s prepared fresh to order and it’s of the highest quality! It’s HOME. MADE. FOOD. I do think the fish breading could have some more flavor in it, but the wings were perfectly seasoned. Plus, the tartar sauce and hot sauce fixed the fish right up! This is that after church special you remember as a kid! Hands down one of The BEST restaurants you can experience not only in the city, but within the state!
Best Soul in Charlotte! This is the second Mr.Charles location in Charlotte that features a bar and dining room. Chicken, Fish and Shrimp are fried to perfection! The tartar sauce is homeade and the sides are amazing. Mac &Chesse, Collards, Fries and Wedges are some of my favorite sides. Staff are friendly and helpful. Try the lemonade drink!
Yeah. It's that good. Had the fried chicken and was perfect. Collards are spicy, and the co-worked loved the fish he had. 10 outa 10.
Went on a busy Saturday in the evening. Service was slow but expected from other reviews I read. The staff was phenomenal, running like a well-oiled machine! The food was amazing. I will be back!
Delicious! We enjoyed everything on each the plate. Everything was hot and fresh. Service was excellent will definitely be back! Took a sit at the bar while waiting for our food. Everything was timed perfectly and the cocktail was great. There will be a little wait due to food being cooked to order. People really started coming in after we arrived, lucky we got there when we did.
We recently had a catering order mishap (accidentally ordered a catering from the location that is currently closed without realizing it) and this location was so gracious and helpful in getting the issue resolved quickly. All the staff were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating about the situation and we were able to work together to remedy the situation. I am so grateful to the staff and the owner. I will definitely be returning to this location! Not only was the staff great but the food is 10/10 too!!
Jeffery was our waiter. Nice brunch menu. They ran out of salmon and sweet potatoes, first time there. I'll give them another chance and go again.
The best food in the county, especially the flounder fish and chicken, great service! Thank you Lyric and Sonja, the manager. You guys helped to make my birthday celebration there the best ever!!!

I WAS CRAVING FOR WHOLE FRIED FISH WITH THE SKIN AND BONES, LIKE MY GRANDMA USE TO FRY. WELL, MR. CHARLES MADE MY HEART HAPPY! FRIED FISH, ALL DAY, EVERY DAY! THE PINTO BEANS, GREENS, YAMS, COLLARDS, POTATO SALAD, FRIES, FRIED CHICKEN, CAT FISH, CHOICES OF FRIED OR BAKED ITEMS ON PLENTIFUL. GO ONLINE AND CHECK OUT THE MENU BEFORE YOU GO BECAUSE I PROMISE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND. I'll start with... WOW! This place is awesome, great menu, good prices, friendly staff and wow (again) the food is Delicious!!!! Chicken is breaded, seasoned and fried just right. Collard's were seasoned to perfection. You have to try the Mac and cheese (should be cheese and Mac)...SO good! Can't go wrong unless you don't go! mmmmm
This place is off the chain! I was beyond satisfied. We were in the banquet room to celebrate the 91st Birthday of my Aunt. Everything was well beyond my expectations. The staff was excellent and no matter who you spoke with they were polite, and knowledgeable. They made us feel comfortable.
The food---EXCELLENT!!!! We even had a cash bar for guests. The bartender, Sonya did an excellent job as well.
We were even invited back by the owner for a great evening of entertainment with a great band. I really had a great time. When I visit Charlotte again I am going to need some chicken and a catfish sandwich sandwich.
