The menu is limited but the food is exquisite. I had the venison burger. My husband said he’d never heard me rave about a burger so much. He had swordfish and it was perfectly and seasoned. The hand-crafted cocktails are great! The wine choices are very pricey. We had wonderful desserts—chocolate mousse got high marks from my husband. The strawberry shortcake cheesecake was lovely. We went for our anniversary, and it was a perfect place for the occasion. Our server, Paul, was phenomenal!

Spectacular food and service. The striped sea bass was out of this world. Ask for Wes to be your server. I am so happy this place was recommended to me. Don’t miss out on one of Chicago’s very best dining spots.

My first time there! Aldo (they call him Mike) was the best waiter. Prosecco was flat...he opened another bottle! Oysters were amazing! Happy with the tuna special! I will be back!

Everything looked and sounded so good that I couldn’t decide what to get. I finally chose the venison burger with fresh cut fries...YUM! I was not disappointed! Service was great, everyone was friendly, and the patio was very comfortable. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town!

What s great place! The location is perfect for dining after the theater at CIBC. Our food was phenomenal. Service was perfect. The lunch selections were generous at a great price. One concern. After our server brought drinks she came back and said she was sick and they were sending her home. Hope I don’t catch anything.

The food is amazing- loved the spicy 🌶 venison burger with fries. I paired it with a glass of Cabernet- perfect end to a long day. I sat at the bar and service was friendly and timely.

We absolutely loved The Gage. It was our first time in Chicago and we decided to make it a culinary trip on account of Chicago's reputation for great food. We ate at restaurants like Girl and Goat and Purple Pig and although they were excellent, the food + service combo at The Gage made it our favourite spot. The bartenders were exceptional, the food was delicious and the restaurant itself is beautiful. Highly reco!

Brunch was a phenomenal. Brioche French toast, and spicy chicken sandwich easily the best I’ve ever had. Great service, food came out extremely fast. Try to avoid popular times, we hit it just right... but it really filled up fast.

Our party of 4 was seated in the covered outdoor area, as it was packed in the dining room.. they're doing well! We all had burgers, 2 classic 2 venison, and they were fantastic!! Fries were very nicely cooked, crunchy. Excellent food and good service. Will return for burgers. Highly recommended

We walked in off the street while on a one-day trip to Chicago to celebrate our Anniversary. Had no idea we were going to be treated to such a great meal, service, and atmosphere. Friendly staff that know how to read a table. The staff exuded pride in the establishment and their work. The building is stunning and the decor is rich and warm. The heated patio was perfect for brunch. Location is absolutely prime! I ordered medium-rare steak with my brunch which did come out a bit too medium for my preference. I do not mention this as a complaint... more of a tip for you rare steak lovers out there! It remained tender and juicy and I enjoyed it despite the temperature. We recommend the Duck Poutine. 👌 👍 Fantastic coffee.

Elevated pub food and lively atmosphere. I really enjoyed the bison tartare but the bread it came with was a bit too heavy for my likes. The curry was super tasty although had a disproportionate amount of potatoes compared to other veggies. The prawns were super fresh and well cooked. The rice was a bit bland. Service was attentive and very quick.

Great menu! Really enjoyed the salad and the burger. Wine and cocktail options are also quite good. The cauliflower steak deserves a special shout out… my wife loves it and it is so good!

I love their Duck Poutine and Creme Brulee. Cocktails too; I ordered a 75 Tokyo. Actually, I love everything about the Gage down to the smallest detail. They definitely deserve that Michelin star. My waitress was Crystal. She's a sweet and easygoing lady. I hope she serves me again next time I go!

Ivan was our server and host. He did a great job communicating the food items and service was spot on! My wife has a salt issue and cannot have cannot have much salt as it is a medical issue. It's always a challenge to find a restaurant who can accommodate her. The restaurant was fully packed Saturday night during taste of Chicago. You could tell they were struggling as they probably didn't plan on having a full house as they did. Lisa's fish came out with salt accidentally. Michael didn't hesitate to make things right and really impressed us. It was our first time here we will definitely come back. It is a beautiful cozy restaurant with amazing food and specialty drinks. Thanks Michael and Ivan!

Went by myself for a quick mimosa before going to the Art Institute. Place was PACKED. Sat at the bar. Bartenders were very nice. Received a menu and drink in 2-3 minutes! Check back often. Really solicitous. Had amazing fried pickles. Made with a crunchy tempura batter and a spicy mayo dip. SO yummy. Portion large enough to share. I’d definitely go back!

Normally one of our first restaurant trips when we visit Chicago. The Gage never disappoints. It's always nice to see the same staff on our visits. We had lunch at the bar. Both of us had the always reliable and delicious bowl of Chicken Orzo soup. The wines by the glass selection is very extensive and has some great wines on it. Can't wait to come back to The Gage.

The 4 of us had Saturday brunch. I had the Steak and Eggs. The bavett was phenomenal! The eggs dreamy. My husband had the venison burger which he enjoyed, but noted the bun was a bit dry. One of us had a very restricted diet and our waitress Stephanie did everything she could to accommodate her. The atmosphere is classy. I highly recommend The Gage.

Great atmosphere and the service was very solid for a busy Friday night. Great cocktail selection, the food was very good and our favorite was definitely the dessert menu. And a surprisingly awesome pour of Guinness. Perfect spot for dinner after visiting Millenium Park

Went with a friend around noon on a Sunday with no wait for 2. Awesome food and service. Some items are pricey, but there are affordable options as well. We weren't rushed when we stopped in to escape the heat with luggage in tow, and were able to enjoy ourselves while killing time until we hopped on our train.

Sandwiched between brunch and dinner menu seems like a lovely time to pop into The Gage. People gearing up for the dinner rush, and still those milling around soaking in the Sunday vibes. An afternoon well-spent taking in some culture at the art museum. Checking out the scandalous background of Picasso and nibbling on tidbits of jealousy driven, sex-crazed, womanizing, and a creative mind that you forget was still in our midst in the not so distant past. Once we basked in other magnificent artists, on to lunch. The Gage has been a staple, not too far of a stroll outside of the museum. The deep wood and richness envelop you in a warm embrace. The booths lend themselves to a slice of private time to peruse the menu for any kind of spirits of all kinds. Delightful cocktails landed me to a staple, spicy marg. It was hard to resist a classic old-fashioned but a little heat was needed. Bright and light spice fit the bill. I couldn't resist the tried and true fish and chips. The flake on the whitefish was as if it was melting in my mouth. The crisp batter didn't feel heavy, just a bite to counterbalance the tender fish. Fries with truffle are never to be skipped. The earthiness blends harmoniously with the salty fry. Don't wait as long as I did to enjoy this lovely spot along your Michigan Street journey.

A friend made brunch reservations for us and I'm glad she did. The food was so good and plenty of it. The bloody mary was also very tasty. We sat outside and enjoyed the atmosphere. I can't wait to visit again.

Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Love the food, the portions, the cocktails, vibe, and service, even though I received fries (which are tasty) vs my subbed salad. Prices can be a bit steep but matches other competing spots nearby. Pictured here is their juicy Gage Burger (about $18) with a side of Bacon (extra $4). Didn't order their Soup du Jour which was a Mushroom Soup but the portion is massive, not just a small coup, but a large, not so deep, wide bowl. Their bar area is also fun if you're looking for a quick drink or two.

The venison burger is a must try here. By far one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. At first I was worried about the gaminess but the burger was literally cooked to perfection.

Went for the mussels and they did not disappoint! The mussels and the sauce were great. Oysters were on the small side but tasted good. Service was excellent. Glad we had reservations for the busy Saturday night.

I was visiting Chicago for work and this spot was near my hotel. The vibe and atmosphere inside was really cool and the service was great. The server recommended the venison burger so I got that. It was decent but nothing to write home about. It looked great but was missing some flavor.
