Tango Sur offers a delightful blend of flavors in a cozy atmosphere. The food is exceptional, with their grilled meats standing out for their tenderness and rich taste. The rustic charm of the restaurant adds to the overall dining experience, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff is attentive and friendly, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the meal. Whether you're a fan of Argentine cuisine or a first-timer, Tango Sur is a fantastic choice for a satisfying dining experience.
Great BYOB place! We sat on the patio and it was perfect. We walked in on a Friday and had no wait. Reservations one week prior. Food was amazing, you get a lot for what you pay. Empanadas were to die for especially the beef ones! The baked eggplant was insane and definitely recommend
Love coming to this place, I enjoy the ambiance and service. Our server was extremely attentive and polite. I recommend that you try the empanadas as a starter. They are delicious. The churrasco is absolutely delightful. There's a bit of a wait at times, but it's definitely worth it.
This place was great! The steak was really good! Big portions too.
Service was kinda slow, but considering how busy they were i cant blame them!
Highly recommend
Food was delicious and good quality meats!
Grilled asparagus soooo good!
Everything was good! But i feels all the table a little too tight but maybe they don’t have a huge space.
All staff were nice but a little slow service so i thinking that maybe they’re really busy there.
I was there last night for my birthday so they gave us a flan for us and its on the house! I have to say its really good!!! I haven’t had any good flan before but this one! Still would definitely recommend to my friends and will go back again! :))
The food was outstanding! Delicious filet mignon with red onion wine sauce and those spinach mashed potatoes!
This is definitely a hot spot, so I’d recommend getting a reservation, especially if over the weekend!
Atmosphere is fun, very dark, and rather loud (we went on a Friday night at 7pm), but is still great for a group. They light candles at each table and it’s BYOB!
Great Argentinan options from many types of steak to empanadas to Milanesa.
This would be a great date night spot as well!
Tango sur offers an intimate, candle lit, dinner setting. They are BYOB, but unsure if there's a cork fee. First time visiting I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly etiquette of the team, and their knowledge of their menu. The food portions were more than fair, making their prices extremely reasonable. The dinner entrees were also delicious. The only disappointment was their ensalada paisana, which I included a picture of. There is hardly any greens on it. The plate consists of heavy amount of mozzarella along with 4 half-slices of tomato and a pinch of sautéed spinach. The cheese was good, but without Lettuce/greens I did not enjoy it enough to finish it.
Other than that, I will visit again, but will avoid ordering salads.

We have been to this restaurant one time before in a group outing a few years ago, and had a great time.
My husband and I went last night for dinner. We had a reservation. However, when we checked in to be seated, it didn't seem like they knew how many people there were in our party, even though we told them it was just my husband and I.
I like the fact that it is BYOB, and the servers try to be attentive even though it was very busy and Loud!! Not the exactly "romantic" dinning we were hoping for. Plus, we both kept getting bumped when someone went by our chairs. They need to have better placement of the tables and space for all the guests. It's a shame because the food was very good and you get a lot for the price.
If you want to have a taste of the famous Argentine steaks and meats, Chicago's got you covered. Argentina is Latin America's equivalent to the US's Midwest as far as meats quality, tradition and expertise. This restaurant will literally save you the trip and provide a local source of inspiration available on a short drive. Great steaks, morcillas (blood sausages), samplers, salads and sides. While you're at it, try the great Quilmes beer, available.
Best steak in town! Everything here is sooo good! Cheesecake is the bomb! We will definitely come back here.
Food is Great! You should go. We go there almost every month; today I felt like I should rate this restaurant as the quality was consistent.
All the steaks are good; the filet mignon 16oz is perfect and my favorite. Of course rib eye steak is great too.
The steak comes with the sauce with great taste.
The only negative point is that the restaurant is too dark.
If you are in a carnivorous state of mind, this is the place for you. Argentinians are known as meat lovers, and that is definitely portrayed on the menu. Also worth noting, this restaurant is BYOB (and NO corkage fee), so grab your favorite bottle of Malbec on the way. It is a very unassuming and large restaurant. Dim lighting and multiple dining rooms as well as outdoor seating. The service is no-nonsense and straightforward. They are here to get food to you. I highly recommend the Parillada for first-timers. It is a selection of 5 meats (flap meat, short ribs, beef sweetbreads, black sausage, and Argentine sausage) served on a tabletop grill. It's a great way to sample meats you really won't find anywhere else. It was an enjoyable experience and the meal was quite tasty. It also filled up quickly on the Thursday night we were there.
I had been wanting to come here for a while but due to the large amount of vegetarians in my life had to wait for a special occasion.
Came on a Tuesday evening to celebrate my birthday and the place was packed with live music (first good sign). The staff was able to accommodate our larger party (8) with a call-in before. And the food was out of this world. Pictured is the filet mignon with a vesuvio potatoes substitution that was good enough that I regretted getting the appetizer (which was delicious in itself).
Byob and reasonable prices for a steakhouse make Tango Sur a restaurant that I highly recommend and will definitely visit again. The quality of the food and the fact there were more non meat options than I expected make it palatable for the aforementioned vegetarians in my life.
Plus, the ambiance inside is dark but super cool.
Tango Sur is a true gem for any meat lover! I recently dined here with a dear friend, and we opted for the parrillada for 2. The variety of meats, including the unexpected delight of sweetbreads, was a pleasant surprise. The portion size was generous, and we ended up with enough leftovers for another meal each. Remarkably, the per-person cost was under $30 (pre-tax/pre-tip), making it a fantastic value for the quality and quantity of food.
But here's the bonus: the Argentinian market next door! This place supplies the meats to the restaurant, and we couldn't resist picking up some empanadas for a party. They also offer a selection of authentic Argentinian sodas and heavenly alfajores. Just a heads up, the market is cash only, so be sure to come prepared. Tango Sur and its neighboring market make for a delightful duo that's sure to satisfy any carnivorous cravings. Highly recommended! 🥩🇦🇷
We visited to celebrate a friend's birthday in the private room in the back. What an amazing experience! Our server, Pedro, was spectacular. The tastes, smells and ambiance were spot on and the staff went above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was everything that we hoped for. I can't wait to return!

Amazing place! Super romantic and the food is a 10. You should try the sweet beef empanadas and the parrillada! The service is also fantastic. I always go there to enjoy a good time with my boyfriend and friends
prob (imho) the best date place in all of lakeview hands down. the food never deviates from excellent. for starters either go with the el'fillet or for two: a porterhouse. place is always packed so you want an hour wait time for a table. if you're looking for a complimentary after place try ñ on Elston (right by Western ave).
One of my favorite steak place in Chicago. We kicked off our meal with Mezcla del Mar salad. Packed with mussels, calamari, crab meat, and octopus, all adorned with a drizzle of garlic and olive oil, this salad is truly satisfying. The star of the show is the Costeleta, a bone-in ribeye that I always gravitate towards. The meat's quality is simply exceptional, boasting a juicy and flavorful profile. Accompanying the steak is a delightful serving of mashed potatoes, and we couldn't resist ordering an extra side of asparagus, which turned out to be impressively large. The service was good, with attentive staff. What sets this place apart, though, is the fact that it's BYOB—a definite bonus.
