Wonderful food and service. We had our own private booth in the Al Capone room. It was a beautiful evening they even brought three pieces of cake to celebrate all of the birthdays we had at our booth. I would definitely recommend this to anybody wanting authentic Italian food, it did not disappoint.
Very nice cozy place to dine casual dress a little more on the upscale side. Service is splendid our waiter Ron was knowledgeable and helpful. Strongly recommend this little 🇮🇹 italian place.
Advance Warning - My review may read like a shill however it is absolutely not. I cannot say enough great things about this place. They take a lot of pride in the food they serve and making guests feel welcome. Its no wonder that generations of families in Chicagoland have made this place a part of their family traditions.
I moved to Chicago in 2013 and consider Italian Village my second family. They have helped me host five parties (both at the restaurant and at my house), they have accommodated dietary restrictions and special requests. I routinely visit their restaurant about once a week. The food is delicious, service is perfect, the GM (Joe) always makes time to talk to guests to ensure their experience is perfect. Chef Jose is a perfectionist with the meals and all of the staff and bartenders make it a point to always go the extra mile! I look forward to going there for years to come with my family! And if going there for drinks, make use of the 5pm free pizza and the best bartender in Janet!
We visited Chicago for a weekend and loved this place. The food and service was excellent. The character of the restaurant is beautiful and feels like downtown Italy. Highly recommend it! I definitely will be craving this place and wished we had one back home.
Our food was excellent and I liked the old world/neighborhood charm. My husband had salmon and I had risotto and both were very good. Nice place and we'd visit again.
My husband and I were there yesterday for the first time before our show and we loved it!! The staff was wonderful and food was amazing!! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this place to anyone.
My son & I have got in this habit of eating at the Italian Village when we come to Chicago to see a show in the theater district. They do have excellent Italian food and I am always “stuffed” when I leave there. The atmosphere is wonderful! It is kind of pricey for my budget but I put $ aside if I plan on eating there. Also, it is totally worth it as the portions are large & the homemade Caesar Salad dressing is to die for! Get there early by 5:30 or so or you are in for an hour or more wait. They do take reservations if more than 2 in your party. They have a full bar and very casual. I highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience! We arrived in plenty of time prior to seeing Hamilton. Not wanting to over eat, my daughter and I shared fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. The chicken was so tender! Service was outstanding, they really kept an eye on us, never leaving an unnecessary plate on the table, offering coffee at the perfect time and always keeping our water glass full. Thank you all for a wonderful experience!!
The food was delicious and our waiter, Jake was incredible. The entire staff went out of their way and the service was amazing! We’ll be coming back on our next visit to Chicago!
A miracle of a place. The original upstairs room is a time capsule of Italian dining history. Everything is delicious. But don’t overlook the crispy, thin crust pizza xo
I had the pleasure of eating here with my mother and sister last night. It was truly a wonderful experience. The setting is so incredibly romantic if you’re with your partner or if you’re with a group it’s relaxing. The decor is breathtaking and the food was some of the best Italian food I have had in a very long time. The employees were very friendly and knowledgeable as well. All around great experience.
Great classy atmosphere, delicious food and faboulous professional staff, also good prices comparing to high end fine dinning. I had such a great time celebrating my friend’s BD!
We arrived to our reservation earlier than expected, and the staff worked promptly to still seat us right away. Our waitress was kind, respectful, and attentive. We ordered pizza bread, gnocchi con salsiccia, and chicken Parmesan. Each our entrees came with either a soup or salad. Everything was absolutely delicious! We drank some delicious espresso martinis as well. They were also quick to give us more bread service, the bread was fresh and warm. The ambiance is intimate and lively. I can’t wait to return to The Village!
Delicious, no frills Italian food. Highly recommend the risotto, with some added shrimp and a shot of espresso to cap off your meal. Portions are hefty, had enough for a second dinner. I only wish we were able to sit in one of the more private, cute booths to the side. Guess we'll just have to come back!!
Wow! My partner and I had the best experience here. We were seated right away, our server and the waitstaff were magnificent and efficient, and the food was some of the best Italian we’ve had. For reference, we ordered the cheesy garlic bread, seafood ravioli, and the sausage gnocchi. Will definitely have to come back next time we visit!
The menu has changed since Covid so if you used to come here in the old days there are many dishes no longer on the menu. But the old Italian Village design remains the same and unmatched for its wonderful history. The lasagna, pasta, veal Marsala are all still delicious. It’s more casual than it used to be but service was excellent and portions huge. After all these years it’s still a great place.
The Village was delicious. I had the Chicken marsala it was very good hot and moist. Huge portion had to take half home. My husband had the chicken Alfredo very good. Nice bread basket and house salads. Servers and bus boys did a great job. Beautiful atmosphere would go back for sure.
Had a nice lunch with my friend. The lady at the reception was super friendly. I am not used to italian food she took her time to explain us the menu. The food ambience was awesome. We had pizza and it was top notch.
The 1st State Bank pre-arranged for our group of about 55 people, to have lunch at this beautiful ,upstairs restaurant about 3 blocks away from the Nederlander theatre. On a normal day we could have easily walked to the theatre but due to extremely hot temperatures, the bus opted to pick us up and drop off at the theatre. The staff was very friendly, helpful and courteous. Highly recommend their Italian food and desserts!
Excellent food, it was busy, yet when seated, you weren't aware of it. The tables were cozy and seemed somewhat private. Loved the little "rooms" with tables. I had the steak medallions with pasta and it was the best I have had anywhere! We tried the seasoned potatoes and they were delicious too. Would have been enough for a lunch.,worth it to eat here. We will make it every time we come to Chicage!
The best Italian restaurant in Chicago by FAR. The service is just amazingg - they are very attentive to everything. They are always very busy. The food is great the drinks as well and the deserts are amazingggggg. Just my favorite Italian. Recommended and worth every penny for the good food , great ambience and perfectionist service.
My boyfriend and I recently went here for our one year anniversary. I made a note of this in our reservation and the staff immediately congratulated us upon our arrival. They seated us in a lovely private booth and staff was very attentive. I cannot stress enough just how good the food was. I will be dreaming about the red sauce for the rest of my life! The staff even brought us a cannoli with a candle to celebrate the evening. The manager Roberto made sure to personally thank us and make sure everything about the evening was up to par. Fantastic experience I have no complaints.
We were taken by surprise finding that restaurant and going over the stairs to enter that dark space and get seated instantly. We ordered the chicken broth soup and house salad and both were good. We were stunned by the taste of the grilled fish fillet and the vegetables. The shrimp futucini alfredo was also cooked to perfection. What a treat to be at such a place.
The atmosphere and service were phenomenal. I enjoyed a bday dinner with my daughter and family. Server was attentive, cut cake and even sang happy bday with us. The sauce use on pasta was too acidic and for the price it was not all that great. Lobster fettuccine is no longer available.
If you bring your cake get ready to pay a cutting fee of $2 per person- totally worth it.
This restaurant has a strong Italian atmosphere. The soup, Caprese salad and Filet Mignon are very good taste. The service is also courteous and provide very good recommendation to me!
We’ve been here a few times and it is always a great experience. The staff is kind and attentive. The food is delicious and the prices for a nice downtown place are really reasonable. The atmosphere is fantastic. On our most recent trip, for Christmas Eve dinner, our reservations put us in Al Capone’s private dining table in one of the little “houses.” What a treat!!
The Village is a beautiful Italian restaurant that has wonderful food. The staff is very efficient and took exceptional care of us. I ordered Linguini Alfredo with shrimp. It was seasoned to perfection and tasted heavenly. The warm bread they bring at the start was so good!
Thank you Rikki and Roberto for a fantastic experience. Spaghetti and meatballs, shrimp app and two beautiful desserts tiramisu and chocolate mousse were Devine.
Great Italian restaurant in the city. Food is amazing and so was the service. The last time I was here was 20 years ago . Stepping back into the restaurant brought me all the way back to my first experience. It was nostalgic but well maintained.
You can't go wrong with this Chicago icon. Busy, lively dining room designed to look like it's namesake (Italian Village) including fun twinkling lights. Experienced wait staff and wonderful food. Perfect for pre-theater dining. We do miss Vince, the incredibly popular bartender, and hope he's enjoying retirement. Choose one of your favorite Italian dishes or try something new--you won't be disappointed
We were told it was a 30 minute wait but we waited maybe 10 minutes to be sat! The food was DELICIOUS. The appetizers came out quickly and a reasonable amount of time before the main course/side. It was super busy but they made it work! I HIGHLY recommend going here for an amazing fulfilling meal and fun!
