My friend and I were here while our kids were at Lolla. Very welcoming staff, we sat at the bar for a drink which was great. We thought it was odd that so many people ate dinner at the bar (it's a fine dining restaurant so why would you eat a $50ish steak at the bar??) but whatever, it was still nice and Vanessa was a really good bartender. We opted to get a table in the dining room, Jose was our waiter and he was fantastic! The entire dining room staff were so friendly. Our dinner was amazing!! Caesar Salads, Filet Mignon, Aspargus...yes it's ala carte but we knew that so we were not shocked when we got the bill. We were so full we took 2 desserts to go. Also amazing. We had a great experience here and now I wish we'd have been able to spend time on the roof top or dine outside, maybe next time! Highlight: we got to meet Harvey!! We'll be back and we might even bring our husbands thanks for a great experience!
Seriously amazing food!! Amazing service!!
Beautiful restaurant and decor. I couldn't ask for a better place to eat in Chicago, when I visit again I will definitely be coming back. The black dog gelato Sunday was THE best desert I have ever had.
Michele Thomas' quartet was amazing! They sounded great and added to my wonderful meal for my birthday. I highly recommend anyone who loves jazz to go on the 22nd, 23rd, and 29th to hear them.
The restaurant is gorgeous! The service, wine and meal was delicious. If you've never been or if it has been a while, you must put Chicago Firehouse on your short list!
My husband and I just had dinner there last night. We both were really impressed by our wonderful waiter, delicious drinks and impeccable food. I have to say the appetizers were our favorites along with the soups. My main course was good but I probably made the wrong decision (I had a maple bourbon glazy pork that, obviously, was sweet. I just was not expecting that much sweet). My husband had scallops with was beyong amazing! You get what you pay for. Cozy, beautiful, warm place. Pricey but worth it.
This is THE best restaurant in Chicago! Whether you are a local or just visiting, you cannot miss this cuisine and setting! This building is a former firehouse and featured in the movie Backdraft. It’s amazing what they’ve done with the place! There is indoor and outdoor elegant seating downstairs, an upstairs hall perfect for any private event, and a menu that will have you coming back for more! We started with the shrimp cocktail and lobster bisque...amazing presentation! The bisque is topped with a puff pastry. I cannot get over how beautiful it looked; I couldn’t believe I ordered something so wonderful! For the main course, we had the Amish Chicken and the Salmon with a side of whipped potatoes...very savory! We also had their dessert special which was a custard pie.....I miss that pie. So good! To drink, we had the Cucumber Bliss (which tasted smooth with mint and citrus) and the “Burning Landmark”...just get it. You’ll thank us later. Great portions and nothing overpriced. You get more than what you pay for! Definitely take time to walk around (in a non-creepy way) on the first floor to look at some of the firehouse memorabilia and stroll upstairs to see the Mayor’s room, private event room, and the outside terrace to take in the skyline. We went on a Saturday evening (8pm reservations) and it was a major highlight of our visit to Chicago. Don’t miss it!!!
Visiting from Boston, my friend and I wanted a good steak for dinner. Well we got a great one - me a rib-eye and Liz had a NY sirloin- done to perfection! The waitstaff was awesome. Keith the bartender, made a great drink and also gave us some valuable info on things to do while in Chicago. Noel the waiter, gave us suggestions on wine and was great all around. We loved the atmosphere and had a great dinner!
Gorgeous venue for a wedding with excellent staff! Strongly recommend!
Went to celebrate our anniversary yesterday and our host,Tim, Giovanni, our bartender while we waited, and Matthew, our server were all outstanding. The food was excellent. Thank you all for a great experience.

We brought our 9 year old boys for dinner here. The staff brought out extra French fries for us to keep them happy, which meant we were able to enjoy the entire dinner. Everything we ordered was delicious, the staff were super friendly, and the building is a beautiful renovation.
Best steak meal I’ve had in ages!! The staff was awesome too!!
This place is AMAZING!!!! The atmoshphere is SO friendly and the food was phenominal! Not to mention that they have THE BEST monkey bread that we have ever tasted! We brought our daughter to Chicago as a surprise for her birthday and our waiter (who's name was Winter)made sure she felt very special. He even brought her a surprise treat with a candle for her to blow out. He asked us if we knew the history of the firehouse and when we stated no, he told us all the interesting facts about the place. He was very attentive to making sure we enjoyed our meal. The people there are all so friendly and made it a great dining-out experience for us. We live in WI but the next time we come to Chicago, we will be sure to stop here again! Thanks again Chicago Firehouse! WE LOVED IT!!
We had a most amazing dinner the sea bass was smooth and velvety w a lot of flavor. The short ribs were delicate and savory. And our dessert was amazing. We had outstanding service and the ambiance was all that we expected. We will be back. Love from OHIO
Love love love! Returning to Chicago after ten years, I haven’t been here since they first opened. I remember watching the renovation from old firehouse to restaurant. Even hosted a private event. Memories. Fast forward to last night, it was a great evening. They brought out the ‘real’ wine menu and had an amazing selection. Highly recommend the seafood sampler & lollipop lamb chops to start. Our dishes were divine and the carrot cake was perfection. I was initially worried about the bar seating but it was a wonderful atmosphere. Will return soon.
Tonight was our 2nd experience dining at The Chicago Firehouse and it was AMAZING! When we first walked in the door, Dale greeted us with the warmest welcome! It was like she had been waiting just for us to arrive! She graciously checked my coat and we were led to the table she selected just for us! Once we were seated at our table, the gentleman served us fresh water and welcomed us! Steve was our waiter and made our experience extra special with his demeanor and attention. We are in town because my husband is running the Chicago Marathon on Sunday and when the GM stopped by our table to greet us, she offered advice and encouragement for my husband. As a very thoughtful touch, she brought a cutout of a runner to decorate our carrot cake that we ordered for dessert.
We had the baby lettuce and Caesar salads, the Market Pasta, the Brussels Sprouts, and the Delmonico Ribeye. The food was exceptional!! We highly recommend The Chicago Firehouse and can not wait to eat here again!
Great experience dining in this restaurant that is a former firehouse. Interior is very unique and interesting to look around while you’re dining.
Immediately greeted with a very lively dining room upon entering and very attentive service.
We will return the next time we’re in the city!
Phenomenal atmosphere, such a beautiful restaurant! Food and cocktails were amazing! They make a ridiculously delicious Old Fashioned. The staff was friendly and helpful and our reservations were ready when we got there. The manager stopped by and gave us an awesome overview of the history of the building. Highly recommended!
I absolutely love this place. If you can get patio seating, do it. The firehouse executive special is the way to go in my mind. The filet I had.....BUTTER. The amount of food you get is surprising, you will need to go boxes if you go with the special. This was my second visit, certainly not my last.
This place is phenomenal! The food, the service and the vibe are great. They actually genuinely care about your experience and Dale at the front desk is absolutely the sweetest and the kindest soul. She’s so busy, directing the traffic, managing the sometimes not so kind customers, always smiling and kind. What a gem in South Loop! A big thank you to the management too. Their guidance and leadership is what makes CFH great.
I had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Chicago Firehouse Restaurant! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the elegant ambiance and attentive staff. The menu offered a delightful array of options, and the food was simply exquisite. The flavors in each dish were expertly crafted, and the presentation was a work of art.
I particularly enjoyed the friendly and knowledgeable servers who provided top-notch service throughout the evening. The restaurant’s historic firehouse setting added a unique and charming touch to the overall atmosphere.
Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just looking for an exceptional meal, Chicago Firehouse Restaurant is the perfect choice. I can’t wait to return for another memorable dining experience in the heart of Chicago!
Great service here. We are able to sit outside and enjoy the wind a little bit. For dessert, they even have the sample display for you before you make your decision.
First time her but certainly not my last! The location is perfect. Downtown feel without the downtown congestion. The valet parking is more affordable compared to what it usually costs to park in downtown Chicago. The staff here is top-notch. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional without being too over-the-top. The drinks are made with good quality liquor and ingredients and generously so. I was there to attend a wedding on the upper floor and got there very early so I enjoyed a drink and some hot appetizers at the bar. The Dirty Vodka Martini with blue cheese olives was delicious, gigantic and strong. I only drank about half of it. My friends really enjoyed the Margaritas...REALLY ENJOYED! The Ricotta-Garlic knots were scrumptious! This is a beautifully remodeled firehouse with tasteful, understated decor and comfy bar stools you don't mind spending a couple hours on. Upstairs, the wedding venue was very elegantly set up for the ceremony but smartly and quickly was broken down and converted into a reception area complete with DJ table, Photo area and a dance floor! The wedding dinner was served Family-style. Succulent steak, creamy Alfredo pasta, tender roasted asparagus, moist and delicious pan-seared salmon filet, generous pours of wine, water and coffee. All of it was delicious! I recommend this place for a wedding. I also recommend it for meeting friends for drinks. But I cannot wait to come back to try it as the steak restaurant it really is. Seriously, if you want to enjoy great ambience but not the hustle bustle of being in downtown Chicago? go here! I will definitely do so.
We had an amazing experience! Our waiter Alex was phenomenal! He explained the cocktails perfectly and even provided his honest opinion! He also pointed us to some of the best items on the menu.
The cocktails were very good. I had something with mezcal and watermelon. The old fashioned was a little on the sweet side.
The food: ricotta balls are PHENOMENAL!! Must try! The meatballs were very good, and the chopped salad was fresh and delicious. A little different with the addition of pasta? But it worked. The lamb appetizer was incredible!
My buddy had the waygu. It was tasty, but super rich. We were too stuffed to try dessert but would definitely come back. Some really nice lady (manager?) stopped by and asked about our experience and that was super thoughtful.
Service, food and drinks were great. Our server Steve took great care of us. He handled the little hiccup we had to the best of his ability. Thank yoy.
Truly a gem in Chicago South Loop.
This restaurant was a former firehouse and the interiors give you a little feel of that.
The food was awesome, service was fast and the staff was friendly.
We ordered mainly seafood dishes in the starters and meat for the entrée’s.
The shrimp cocktail was delicious. Oyster Rockefeller with Tabasco sauce was out of the world. Crab cake was good too.
Lamb chops were delicious and steak frites too, I ordered medium-rare but recommend medium.
The cocktails were delicious.
And the chocolate cake had a subtle taste, not too sweet and heavy, just the way we like it.
Definitely recommend this place for a special occasion, I celebrated my birthday here.
My family and I came here for restaurant week. The greeting upon entry, to being seated, our waitress to the Manager/General Manager, Shannon. When I say that this was not only a impecable dining experience but the customer service across the board is unmatched. Shannon engaged with us, took our suggestions into consideration, she made sure we had a great experience. The chef floored me with the salmon and his signature dessert which I HIGHLY recommend and I’m not even a coconut lover but his pie is divine.
We had a fantastic dinner for my sister's birthday! The put a birthday banner on our table and that was just the start of a great night. Keith, our amazing server, made the experience fantastic. Our drinks, the Saint Barbara, were incredible and the firecracker shrimp appetizer and honeycrisp salad were delicious and there was plenty to share. Our meals were filling and delectable. Overall the meal was phenomenal and we cannot wait to go back again!
Delightful experience! We visited with a large group for an arranged lunch meal wait staff was wonderful and the food was great. The mixed greens salad was delicious however the dressing was a bit heavy. Salmon with broccolini was served with the skin on the salmon. The almond crust cheesecake was a must get.
Valet was fast. The hostesses were extremely nice & polite. We were seated very quickly even though we were outside our reservation time. Our waitress, Dianna, was super helpful & knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered calamari, lambchop lollipops, French Onion Soup, Lobster Bisque, Delmonico Ribeyes, Brussells Sprouts, & Potatoes Au Gratin. Everything was delish. All staff were courteous. We had a terrific time.
