Went there last night as a recommendation from a friend, I never had shark till the host Alex convinced me and boy he wasn't wrong, absolutely delicious. They had $1 oysters that were phenomenal and an awesome wine and mix drink menu. Price wise is wasn't terrible at all for the caliber of food and service they provide. Highly recommend.

I was delighted to find this high quality place at old Six Corners. Farm fresh, perfectly prepared fare at very reasonable prices. First rate service from the time I entered until I left 2.5 hours later. Inviting and friendly environment with an eclectic crowd. A surprise and a treat. I’ll be back on my next visit to my old neighborhood in Chicago, for sure. Starter: half dozen Oysters Shredded Vegetable salad NY Strip with Shallot Jam and Bordelaise Roasted Brussels Sprouts Perfectly prepared.

Excellent restaurant! It is always welcoming. The interior is warm and Innovative. Everyone is friendly and that starts with the owner and continues with his staff. And a great chef! The food may seem simple at first. A great steak or fish, but then the fish is accompanied with a complex yet subtle layer of smoked yogurt and fried almonds amongst other things. Even if it is out of the way for you, do not let that stop you from trying one of the best places in the city. It's our favorite restaurant, and we have never been disappointed.

This place is seriously one of the best Chicago restaurants I've ever visited. What a hidden gem ! I would definitely put it in the top 3 of my all time favorite spots !!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! Stuff is so helpful and friendly which only adds to the overall unique foodie experience. Their great sense of humor and amazing positive attitudes are really catching ! This is just simply unheard of in today's restaurants. If Pete is not your server - ASK FOR HIM !!!

Beautiful ambiance, friendly diverse staff and patrons, even the owner stopped by to introduce herself and ask how everything was. I asked for the bartender Alex to pick all of our food based off of what he thought we would enjoy. And, wow were we ever impressed!! Every item that we tried was just fantastic! And, watching him truly work his craft was equally as impressive. I cannot wait to go back! I would highly recommend the Community Tavern. It is in every aspect the WOW factor without the pretentiousness. This is a hidden gem you definitely don't want to miss. I promise you be glad you didn't!

So happy to have Community in the neighborhood. Super cute place, really good cocktails, friendly service. The food is very tasty, albeit a little pricey (which is really my only small complaint, but I'd say it's on par with pricing at some comparable places). I've been a few times here and there, and I just went tonight with my sister in law for their $5 burger at the bar deal (which we deduced is regularly a reasonable $8). Rachel at the bar took great care of us and was just the right amount of chatty and informative. I had a Holy Ghost to drink, which was perfect and felt very hand-crafted, and a side of roasted squash, which was truly yummy. The burger itself was so awesome that we ended up ordering another one to split, and one to take home to my husband. The patty was just the right thickness and very juicy, the toppings brought just the right balance of flavors, with the tangy pickles, spicy jalapenos, and melty cheese all combining perfectly to make one darn good burger. We may just become Sunday regulars!

Love this place! So nice to get great food without going to the city and dealing with the traffic and parking issues. Lovely ambience and not noisy! We started with the escargot, it was delicious! We shared the blue cheese salad, and there was more than enough for two, and also delicious. Steak frittes, and whole fish were amazing. Finished the meal with the ice cream sandwich and coffee. It was an amazing meal and surprisingly not that expensive. We will definitely be back! It wasn't busy early, but filled up by 8:00. Reservations recommended.

Just left full and happy. The new menu is fantastic with great vegetarian options. Best coconut cake I've ever had. The skinny fries with cheddar cheese are out of this world. Great job Joey and Brenna!!

Your Sunday special burgers are some of the best burgers I ever had. Washed it down with the Winter Falcon IPA made in Old Irving Park which was ultra delicious. So happy to find Community Tavern. Recommending to all.

Wow - I absolutely loved Community Tavern. Pretty and cosy dining room, friendly and charming staff and sensational food at excellent prices. I had the mushroom butter dumplings (4 perfect parcels of umami shrooms and thai basil) followed by the vegan Dan Dan noodles (a flavourful and piquant bowl of chewy noodles, five spice, sesame paste, shiitake mushrooms, yu choy, scallions and roasted peanuts) and shared the 4 layer coconut cake (passionfruit curd, togarashi-infused caramel, coconut swiss buttercream, shredded coconut) and every bite was delicious. Wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend to a pal!

Amazing food and amazing service. Short rib dumplings were to die for and the half chicken was exquisite. Shout out to Pete and Karen for amazing service, I’ll be back! I also got the burger to go and I understand why it’s ranked one of the best in Chicago.

Ok so like many others, I wasn’t aware of community tavern until the article about the burger came out. My wife and I decided to make the trip out there to see what the fuss was about. We thought we’d like the burger but honestly, we loved everything else WAYYY more. The food was absolutely amazing. There were so many things we wanted to try on the menu. Our waiter even said to skip the burger, but we didn’t listen but we should have. Not to say the burger was bad, but everything else was so damn good. We had a great experience! While the burger was pretty good, I wouldn’t put it in the same category as Au Cheval personally, nor does it matter. This place is top tier and worth dining! We’ll be back again!

Followed @eater_chicago to @communitytavern. The menu is Asian inspired. Service was great. We even got clean plates and utensils after every course. 🥟 Kimchi dumplings - the wrapping is perfectly bouncy and firm. 🍝 Prawn Carbonara with Thai Spices - didn't really taste much of the Thai flavors. The prawns were tasty. The bacon flavor also infused the dish. 🍲 Coconut & Lemongrass Soup - sour, fragrant, warm. 🍔 Burger - came highly recommend. It was a good burger but not one with a unique flavor that I'd crave. 🍰 Coconut and passion fruit cake - the flavors took a bit getting used to. Underwhelming. #food #eating #tummy #letseat #chicagoeats #foodiegram

We ordered 4 things: pork ribs 8/10, crispy rice noodles 8/10, butter mushroom dumplings 10/10, and fried chicken 6/10. The fried chicken was the only thing I wouldn’t order again. It was on the sweeter note, which is not to my liking.

I drove for 40-minutes to get here right at 5 pm when they open the doors. When I got there at 4:55 people were waiting outside to dine in. I was favored with rock-star-parking right in front of their door and free because it was Sunday. I sat at the Bar order an Old Fashion and food to go - I was treating my friends who just had a baby. The cocktail was delicious (I am an old fashion freak so I taste one in each establishment that serves it). I would suggest for them to serve it over one big clear solid piece of ice instead of a bunch of cubes, to preserve the integrity as one sips the elixir. The service is excellent, accommodating, friendly, and willing to help. The ambiance is warm, simple, inviting, yet urban chic. Every dish was superb. I order Kimchi Dumplings, English Pea Dumplings, Dan Dan Noodles, Nam Prik Udon with shrimp, and White Prawn Carbonara. My friend place it on colorful plates and we shared. Truly a delight of flavors to our tastebuds. The 3 of us were delighted with the preparation, flavors, and spices. My favorite, or these bunch, was the Dan Dan Noodles, had a little kick. I could not resist my sweet tooth and ordered 4 Layer Coconut Cake and Kafir Lime Cheesecake which we just eat out of the boxes. Each one with a fork in hand and satisfied experience. We all agreed that we will be coming back again and again for takeout or dine in.

Not sure how friends discovered this place but it's super cute and food was so good! Being Korean myself, I'm always skeptical to try Korean fusion but Community Tavern did it right! Server Peter was attentive and funny in his own sarcastic way. Here what we got: -Queen of Hearts: I like gin. This drink was good that I got a 2nd. -Raw Oysters: it was so delicious! We almost ordered a 2nd round but were too full from the meal -Charred Carrots: I hate (yes, hate) cooked carrots, but this-- omg, was so good! The whipped cream cheese, and the flavor-- mmm, it was so good. I could order a 2nd. -Bar Habor Mussels: I thought they were mediocre but my friends loved them. -Milk Bread Tartine: thought it's a popular dish. Honestly, nothing special about it. Skip it. -Nam Prik Udon: delicious udon noodles with flavors of Thai -Short Rib Dumplings: once again, had low expectations with dumplings but honestly, it was really good. I think it's the XO Sauce that made it special! -coconut cake: complimentary for birthday; it was good. Can't wait to return!

Bottom line: I would go back here if I were in the neighborhood. Great local spot. Ended up here as we were at the theater across the street. Saw it on the way in and it looked great. So glad we stopped in. Really well made cocktails to begin. The dumplings were out of this world delicious: Short Rib and mushroom are the way to go. Our group shared all the dishes and it was a great way to try the offerings. Generous portions and reasonable prices. Easy place to come back over and over again.

As I dig into the burger, first thing I noticed that bun was one of the best bun on a burger, warm and soft texture, blends in perfectly with all the condiments and burger meat which you can taste the freshness. They use a little bit of fish sauce giving the burger an unique taste you won’t find anywhere else.

Food was delicious, busy restaurant. Sat at the bar with superior service. Enjoyed a nicely crafted cocktail, papaya salad, squash dumplings, pork ribs, and baked Alaska. 😋 everything was perfection. Would highly recommend.

I feel like we stumbled on a hidden gem that isn't so hidden. I got a Friday reservation a few days in advance with no issues. Shared 6 dishes for 2 to try a good spread and we were both blown away, full, and had a good portion of leftovers. We talked about it for hours afterward. No complaints or even tweak preferences across all the dishes. LOVED the mango cocktail too. Can't wait to bring people when they visit.

This is my new favorite Chicago spot. Amazing all around, the food was incredible, service was the best and the atmosphere is so cozy and beautiful. Zach was our server and he was so polite and helpful with ideas on the menu. We had a late reservation so we were there into closing time and felt terrible holding up the staff. They were so nice about it and we got to speak to most everyone there working. Will be back VERY soon, already planning the next trip. We live over an hour away in the burbs but that does not matter! Totally worth the drive. Mushroom dumplings are my new favorite dish!

Modern place especially for the area. Service was super nice, many attentive people. The kim chi cheese fries were a big portion and the melty cheese was tasty. Burger was rich and cheesy. Skinny fries with that were gucci. The coconut cake was the reason I came. It could have been a little more most, but was very flavorful which compensated for that. Dumplings were deec. Don’t sleep on the happy hour 5-6, cheaper appetizers!

Always wanted to try this place after the rave about the burger. It was very good but not the best I’ve ever had. Still delicious though. The green papaya salad was also very good. Very flavorful. Love the vibe of the place. Great service.

Mushroom butter dumplings are to die for! I had my best friend come with me before her surgery. Explosion of flavor in your mouth. The crispy bottom and tender top really made this experience enjoyable. A must try! Now, the oysters from Canada can’t be bet. This is the best restaurant in Chicago! I will continue to recommend all my friends. The ambience is dress up and date night worthy. The staff and chef on point!
