Food was delish! Staff were fantastic. Customer service was top notch. Will definitely come back and bring my friends and family. I ordered the combo plate tocino (cured pork) and Bangus (milk fish) with garlic fried Rice over 2 fried eggs. My fiancé ordered combo plate tocino and longganisa with garlic fried rice and 2 fried eggs. I love that their tocino and longganisa aren’t too sweet and oily. It’s perfect the way they cooked and seasoned it. It also came with a side of chilled champorado (chocolate rice pudding) and Filipino version of salsa which was tomato and onions in vinegar. Our meal also came with unlimited refill of lugaw (similar to congee). Our server kept checking us if we need any refill or if we need anything else. They also gave us a complimentary skirt steak for us to taste. The steak was so soft. You don’t even need a knife to cut it. I love how they marinated the steak because it reminded me the Filipino bbq marinate. Sooooo good!!!! Next time I come back I’ll definitely order the steak. We also got a little history lesson how long has the business been running and why they open at 5a everyday except on sundays because long time ago there were a lot of factories in the neighborhood and also a police station nearby that they felt they should cater to the masses. Simply amazing. I can’t wait to come back.
Walking in with a party of 13 in the middle of a rush midday Sunday & the staff does a phenomenal job seating us together! They don't take reservations. We were prepared to be seated separate tables. The food is awesome! Classic Filipino breakfast and my 8 y/o Mexipina (Mexican/Filipina) LOVED the pumpkin pancakes! The Bangus, skirt steak, & tocino were well enjoyed by the family. The wait staff did such a phenomenal job serving us in the midst of the crowd. The lugao (rice soup) is superb - as well as the champurrado (sweet glutinous rice with cocoa)! Brings back my childhood memories at the family table! This is a great establishment! Wishing Uncle Mike's many years of success!!!
Amazing food and service every time I come here. The food is outstanding, especially the marinated steak with the garlic rice. They also have the BEST blueberry pancakes I have ever had in my life. Highly recommend this place.
Service is GREAT! The food is delicious!
Our waiter, Jim was so accommodating and such a nice fellow doing great customer service. That goes as well with Manny whenever we ask for our coffee refill. Ideal place to go for Filipino breakfast. A diner I wouldn't mind going back again and again. Highly Recommendable :)
second time i’ve eaten here... Much better experience, I ordered the sweet chorizo, garlic rice, with eggs over easy..... so good! and priced right Glad my co-workers enjoyed their meals too! A quick 10minute drive from UIC....
All food are delicious. The owner of the place are friendly and generous. the place is clean. If happen that we all go back to Chicago, I will certainly visit the restaurant and eat my big breakfast. Thanks to the owner Uncle Mike's Place for the generous breakfast with extra food to go. LOVE IT...
The food was fresh, homemade and delicious. The staff was friendly and attentive. A great birthday brunch ❤️‼️
The manager is ver nice and welcoming. The food are awesome! Highly recommend this place.
Came into town jonesing for Filipino food (a little deprived Filipino restaurant-wise where I live) and Uncle Mike's hit the spot! I had the breakfast combo with bangus and tocino. Only managed to eat half and was stuffed the rest of the day. Definitely coming back.

Food and service was excellent! We came in hungry and left full and happy! We ate Filipino food and the servings were generous, staff were friendly and attentive.
The Bangus Breakfast is literally in my top 5 meals ever. This year we came here for my birthday and y'all even surprised me and sang to me with pancakes with whipped cream and fruit on top Fluffiest pancakes ever! I love y'all so much! Thank you for being so wonderful!!!
Always love coming to Uncle Mikes! Food is always very good ... especially when you're craving that Filipino breakfast. We're always treated very well! A few times now Tito Mike had whipped up some extra yummy dishes for us to try. We never leave there hungry.
The best Filipino breakfast - delicious, huge portions.... and extra lugaw 'to go'!
Good place, good food, good service, good staff...definitely worth coming back ♡♡♡
Worth the wait, though it took way longer than estimated to get seated (over an hour when the estimate was 30 minutes). The breakfast was very very good, homey feeling with great savory flavor and well grilled meat. Every ingredient was quality and well treated and the pork was excellent (bangus was quite good as well). In my humble opinion it’s much better than Kasamas breakfast, which I found to be too sweet. That was not an issue here. Once inside the service was pretty good as well. A big pricey but where isn’t these days.
so good so yummy & 10/10 service!! went at 9am ish on a Saturday & didn't have to wait, was filling out quickly as we were eating. love the combo option to try different things, would've loved for the garlic rice to have a stronger garlic flavour & scent, worth a visit!!
It’s not typical to find many Filipino restaurants so it’s nice to have this downtown. The staff are very nice and doting. The atmosphere is nice and it’s a big place. Free street parking. I would say I would prefer to stick to the American menu here bc I hear good things about the food. As for the Filipino food menu…I had baby bangus fish (pacific milkfish) and garlic rice with eggs on top and chocolate pudding (I forget the actual name in Filipino) that comes with it for $14.95. Yes it was the smaller fish portion but there was so little fish that I sprinkled the lightly battered pieces on my rice like flavored garlic w fish rice. You get complimentary Lugaw which is rice porridge with a lemon embedded inside as soon as you sit down. My partner had Tocino (pork) w eggs and sides which he loved (I’m not a meat eater most of the time and I will eat fish so I will stick w non meat dishes which leaves vegetarians and vegans with few choices here). He loves it here as he loves pork dishes. So overall I would stick w the American breakfast or lunch food bc the choices for me were limited and the food portion for the fish was small. But I give the place 5 stars for having Filipino food choices for meat eaters and very nice staff and atmosphere. It’s a nice sit down experience.
Came here for breakfast after our waiter from another restaurant commended it. We were told that it used to be a strictly American breakfast diner until the owner married a Filipina. It was then that they started introducing Filipino dishes to the menu. Not sure how true that is lol.
We loved what we ordered! Really authentic Filipino breakfast. Our group ordered 2 Big Bangus breakfast and 2 longanisa + tocino combos. The come with garlic rice and eggs, served the way you like them. The servings are pretty big, but the bangus (milkfish) was especially MASSIVE. They also serve the soup of the day for free so make sure you ask!
This place is very highly regarded and a lot of my friends really like it. I’ve been here a few times and it’s good, but not the full 5 star from me when it comes to taste. I’ve had the steak, the pork chops and the longanisa breakfast and have liked the last one the most, the pork chops were actually not that great at all. I love the congee at the beginning and the cozy, breakfast atmosphere of the place. Generally, I believe there is a wait during weekend breakfast/brunch times but I’ve always gotten lucky.
Tocino is the best sausage I’ve ever had. Very close to Taiwan sausage, sweet and more flavorful. The fish is a little bit fishy. Steak is good, especially at this price. The porridge is impressive and now I learned I can put lemon in porridge. The service is what you can get at this kind of little restaurant. I rather like this neat and no social talk service.
I wish I could've came here sooner! Atmosphere, food, and service is top notch! Big bangus and tocino breakfast is really good and expect to bring extra home. All of that with 2 coffees and a side for just over $50 is a breakfast well served!
Cozy, no frills Filipino breakfast. The portions are hearty and delicious. We sat down and we’re given some porridge to start. The longanisa and tocino plates are so delicious. And all the plates come with a warm chocolate rice pudding 😋
Loved this place! You just know it's authentic home cooking. It's homey and not much frills but the staff is friendly and the food is delicious. Once we sat down before we ordered anything they brought us water and 2 warm bowls of their rice porridge. I was already surprised because I was planning on ordering some. It was delicious and perfect for the slightly chillier weather coming. I've never had rice porridge with lemon in it but this worked and I was about to ask for a second bowl before I realized I should probably order something first. The 2 of us shared a tocino breakfast (comes with 2 eggs and garlic rice) and a side of longanisa. Loved it. Can't go wrong with longanisa. This was more than enough food for the two of us. Garlic rice was awesome. It also comes with a small chocolate rice pudding. I'll def be back here if I'm in Chicago again!
If you're looking for a unique breakfast spot, then definitley go to Uncle Mike's Place. The food is delicious! We got the Longanisa and tocina breakfast combo. Longanisa was savory and the tocina was SUPER flavorful. The lugaw soup was also very good! Wait staff is super friendly as well.
