The service was amazing, the food was fantastic and prices outstandingly low! I totally wish you open up a store in Austin,Texas! Thank you for your hospitality, that made us keep coming back for breakfast and lunch many times while we were in Chicago.

Good food, good service! I had the the "wise guy" hero and it was fantastic. The pizza on the other hand was just ok. Good selection on the menu with something for everyone. They even have homemade ice cream!

My favorite sandwiches anywhere. I walk by 5 places (subway, firehouse, jimmie Johns, etc.) regularly to eat them.

Very impressed of the texture of their Chicago style Pizza. First the cheese and sauce had an unique flavor to it with a nice kick to it, love how everything stays in place as you’re holding the slice and bite into it. Great thing about Fontana’s is that they serve pizza by the slice.

I was here in May and this was my 1st Chicago deep dish pizza experience. I thought it was amazing!!! The slice was big enough to be split by 2 people but I managed to put a big enough dent in it. I was exploring the city during a flight layover, so no leftovers were coming with me. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Loved it!

Came in for lunch in earlier morning hours. Nice find on Michigan Avenue where everyone else still seemed to be trying to wake up. Extremely clean and welcoming. Greeted on arrival. There are tons of options to order from, friendly employees, and decent seating. TV for game, but visual only. The pizza was awesome. We'd gotten "thin" crust, and it definitely was traditional, but perhaps that's Chicago's version of thin. Either which, we didn't mind, very fulfilling and tasted great. Would recommend and return.

The cheese is huge and just melts in your mouth. The taste of my deep dish sausage pizza slice was amazing! Exceeded my expectations.

Finally tried this place after my friends had hyped it up to me for a while. It was totally fine, but didn't live up to the hype. Quality and taste was good, just on par with something I could've whipped up at home and a little overpriced. Pizza looked fine and staff was helpful and friendly.

1 slice of deep dish will definitely fill you up! The pizza I ate tasted little dowdy to me.

Nice atmosphere. It was busy but not too crowded. The only issue I had was when my order was ready, I wasn't called. The cashier came up to me and notified me that my food was done. They gave me a time frame, and it was actually done in that time but because the atmosphere was so nice I didn't realize the time had passed so fast. Great place!! I will be back

Here's the thing: the sandwiches here are great, but you're paying Loop prices. We're talking $20 for a 12" sub. Granted, the quality is great, but . . . that's a bit much IMO. I will definitely go back every so often, regardless. Staff is really nice. Can't comment on the pizza.

Good little Italian sandwich shop on South Michigan Avenue. Great location. Close to multiple tourist destinations. This place has a mix of locals and tourists. Very fast and friendly service. Don’t be deterred by the long line. It goes quick. Easy to understand menu on the wall. Lots of Italian deli meats to choose from. Has ample indoor and outdoor seating. Can be crowded but table turnover is very quick. Good place for family with kids.

The medium crust pizza is solid (it’s not thin, but it’s def not thick), but the real star are the sandwiches. Everything tastes really fresh and exactly what you want an Italian sub to be. A slice was $5-ish, a 6” sub was $9. But what makes me want to keep coming back (and to recommend to others) is the service. I was juggling a 2 year old and a stroller, and multiple staff members stepped up to help me carry my tray to the table or throw my trash away, without me even asking. A great spot to grab a bite if you’re visiting the Art Institute. Would 10/10 return.

Was a great stop. The pizza is excellent. Was glad to see Chicago deep dish by the slice. Because no way I could eat a whole one. I can throw down at the dinner table. One slice filled me up. Fire baked oven makes the best pizza.

Visited from Houston. Tried deep dish at Giordano's and elsewhere, but the regular 'za here was the best slice we had in Chicago. Thick crust, one big slice, cheesy with good distribution of sauce and meat. Pleasant environment, fast service, and bathrooms downstairs (ask for the door code.)

My favorite sandwich place downtown. Or catch a slice of bacon and pepperoni pizza(my personal favorite} when it's hot and ready. Also they're one of the few spots downtown that still has Barq's Root Beer as a fountain choice.

My dad knew "Red" Fontano back in the 80's. I believe he remodeled the original Polk Street location, and may have built or remodeled other locations. I remember going to the Polk Street location and the food being awesome. A coworker suggested we go to lunch here today, and I remembered the connection. We visited the Michigan Ave location and I am happy to report the subs are STILL AWESOME!
