For a quick bite before you go on your next adventure in Chicago, check out Wow Bao😁
Yes, the portions are small, but the food's good. 🥟🥟🥟 Get the pot stickers, and get a lot. That one bao in the bag? it's smaller than you imagine. It's gone in one bite😄
Oh! don't forget the chicken bone broth. Lemongrass, ginger, lime, it's very hot and flavorful. Perfect non-caffeinated pick me up 👍
The staff is so great. I did not like the food it teased so different . I am not sure what it is wrong but it is not my favorite. The ginger Ale is good .
I really enjoyed the customer service today both of the women were great and respectful individuals and I enjoyed my meal I will be back very soon I’m the security guard who worked that area of lower downtown district
Fast food Chinese joint similar to Panda Express. I think the food was great but not the best Chinese we had. We ordered a combo menu where we had kung pao chicken and 2 baos. I like the ease of placing an order and the time it took for them to make our food.
Pretty good Chicken Teriaki Bowl with rice and the Baos were decent, just wish there was more filling. I recommend the BBQ Pork and the Thai curry chicken Baos.
Had to order online and the two people working when I picked up my food were not friendly but since we were getting ours to go.... Who cares. I loved the pot stickers and the hot buns were tasty. Not exactly gourmet food but good for what it was
Definitely not your average American Chinese restaurant, authenticity is about 70% if that’s important to you, the rest 30% I’d give it to creativity. I like the business model, it feels like meet in the middle between authentic Chinese food and Americanized Chinese food, and also between a fast food restaurant and a sit down restaurant.
My favorite was the ginger chicken potstickers.
Grew up eating baos and I must admit how impressed I am by this "fast food" style approach.
I love the adapted flavors such as the thai green curry chicken and the vegetarian whole wheat edamame baos which in my opinion represents a successful fusion of a well made bao and trendy, familiar flavors catered to a broader palate.
I would reccomend for people to try other "unconventional" flavors as well as I am sure the recipes are well crafted to be tasty to most people.
It is a shame that I have only experienced Wow Bao in Chicago. I would love to see them branch out to other major cities.
I'm vegetarian so I've had a limited number of the dishes. But the vegetarian options are very good go-to's. They have breakfast bao and bowls that are pretty tasty too.Their kiosks seem to speed up the ordering process. I usually eat about 1 pm after the lunch rush and service is really fast. They always seem to have plenty of staff to handle the demand.
Saturday evening visit. Not terribly busy, so no problem getting a seat. I had the teriyaki chicken bowl with rice, it was very good. My companion had vegetable bowl with lo mein,. It was a little bland. We shared ginger chicken potstickers, bbq Berkshire pork bao, and a coconut custard bao. Aside from the vegi lo mein, the food was good. It was ready quick and the staff was friendly enough.
