This is a nice little spot in west loop, the food was good and the service was outstanding. The highlight for me was the wine, they have a great South American selection of wines and the Pet Nats are specially outstanding. We had a reservation at 7:30 but where not seated until 8:00 which makes sense since it was very busy specially on a Tuesday night and we had a large group so that’s completely understandable. The food was good however I personally feel that it was a little under seasoned to my taste. Other then that great experience.

This was by far the best tasting menu experience that my husband and I have participated in. We did the chef's countertop experience and enjoyed every moment! Every single dish was an absolutely delightful journey from start to finish and our sommelier/guide for the evening was incredibly knowledgeable of the wine and how it brings out specific flavor notes of our food. The staff is incredibly hardworking and we cannot wait to go back to try some more of their signature dishes. Seriously, book this experience ASAP, they're magicians in the kitchen!

We went to El Che last weekend and it did not disappoint. We started off with the wedge salad. This is hands down one of the best salads I’ve had from any restaurant. The ingredients were so fresh and amazing. We ordered the filet and ribeye. Both steaks were spectacular. Both were cooked to a perfect medium rare. We also tried the lobster tail with the butter on the side. The butter here is so unique and has an amazing rich flavor. This restaurant is a little pricey but the food quality and service make it all worth it.

El Che is definitely a must try! Guillermo was very knowledgeable and described perfectly what everything was going to taste like before we decided what to order. We started off with the scallops with a cilantro-serrano purée which was amazing and the Italian beef empanadas with a creamy giardiniera sauce which was perfect! We also ordered the bone marrow which I enjoyed but it’s definitely an acquired taste may not be for everyone, but we loved it. For the main course we had the picanha and the dry aged ribeye cap, both were a must try! For dessert we finished off with a chocolate molten lava cake topped with a coconut gelato and toasted coconut shreds which hit the spot! Everything from the service to the atmosphere was a 10/10 we definitely will be back!

This was truly a unique experience. Not your typical steakhouse. No bread, no Caesar salad, no crab cakes truly original menu of different steaks and seafoods. I started out with the truffle empanada( very tasty) and had the salmon while my wife had the 8 ounce steak and the broccolini.. zero complaints…I want to comeback the table next to us ordered the whole fish I want to come and order it when I have more of a appetite.. thanks guys for your hospitality. We’ll be back soon.. keep the light on please..

I went with a friend to try the steaks I heard about it. The food was to die for. We had an amazing empanadas for starters and surf and turf for the main course. Our server Scott was very knowledgeable of menu, very friendly guy. The only thing I think they need to improve was the sangria, felt a little under flavor.

I've gone here a few times now, and each experience has been phenomenal! My recent visit was for my birthday. My friend and I got seated at the bar to wait for our table, and when the bartender overheard us talking about my birthday he gave us a free glass of champagne which I thought was very nice and thoughtful. Food is delicious!! Highly recommend the steak, bone marrow and octopus 🤌🏼🤌🏼 This is a place I will keep coming back to

One of the best birthday experiences I’ve ever had! From the greeting, service and delicious food, I couldn’t have been more satisfied. The Rum Old Fashioned, the house Cabernet, the house Pinot Grigio, the Short Ribs, the Ribeye, the Potatoes Bravas & topped it off with an amazing ice cream birthday dessert! Thank you for the amazing service and the delicious meal! Will be back and highly recommend!!

What an excellent experience. I went on a Friday night to celebrate a friend's anniversary, and it was fantastic. Our server, Julio, was outstanding. He made excellent recommendations for wine and was very attentive. I definitely will recommend this place to friends and family. The food was also excellent.

Went there for an anniversary dinner and sat at the bar for happy hour. The beef fat fries are to die for! And the mule has its own little twist to it and it was absolutely delicious. Trey did a wonderful job helping us celebrate our special night. Will definitely come back again!

We did a chefs tasting... WOW! Service was amazing starting with Alajandro on the phone to Julio who served us and was spectacular, then Alex the GM and Wine guide, and man did we learn about central and south American wines, delicious, Then the Chef and owner John checked up on us to make sure each course was perfect. We loved it all but stands outs were- Grilled Oyster, the whole Shrimp, my wife's fav, for a real smoke experience go for the sweet breads, I loved them. The Scallops were delicious and then the Wagu picanha steak, a true Argentinian treat. Huge flavour, I mean amazing but eats like a good sirloin which is what it kind of is. I loved it. We had a chocolate dessert with the perfect Pas wine that was a real treat. I encourage you to go for snacks and drinks or an amazing dinner experience.

Been meaning to come here for a while and was not disappointed. Little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for! We had both flavours of empanadas and they were the highlight of our meal. A MUST get in my opinion. Our server also suggested the grilled oysters and they were fantastic. Both our steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly, brussel sprouts for sides were incredible and so unique. Service here was also fantastic, our server (Niko or Nicol or Nico?) was able to answer the many questions we had about the menu. If you’re having trouble deciding, they are super helpful! Overall a great experience and will definitely be back!

Near perfect steakhouse experience. We were a little disappointed that they did not have any tomahawk steaks but our wonderful server recommended the party steak which we got cooked medium and it was absolutely delightful. The Japanese sweet potatoes and broccolini were our sides and they were both excellent as well. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good steak house in Chicago

My friend and I came here for their happy hour and I have to say that it’s one my favorite spot for happy hour now! They maintained highly quality bites for their happy hour menu with many drinks options and especially amazing food options. We tried almost everything on the happy hour and the quality is top notch. You sit at the bar for the happy hour and if possible try to come at 5pm to have plenty of time to try different items and drinks. We ordered: - beef empanada (this is absolutely delicious from the tender beef stuffing with deep flavors to the perfect crust of the empanada) - fugazzeta empanada (same great crust, slightly prefer the beef option) - grilled oysters (creamy with great bacon bites) - grilled shrimp (beautifully grilled and flavored, can’t get enough) - beef fat fries (addictive, be careful with these cuz they will disappear before you know it, the chimichurri aioli is such a treat) - steak frites (we got medium rare and this is the grand finale for our happy hour, tender texture, simple flavor from just salt and pepper but highlight the strong steak fragrance, the only thing was that the end piece were closer to well done than medium, must get) It was such a deal and a pleasant experience. Service was also friendly and attentive from the bartenders. The vibe is great with darker lighting and open kitchen concept. I love the view to a giant fire pit where they do their grilling! Will come back soon!

We loved our experience at El Che! We got the empanadas and waygu steak tartar. Empanadas were amazing! The tartare tasted heavily of caper and aoili. We shared a dry aged NY strip, chorizo, and sweet breads. Everything was good! I wish the steak would have been a bit more tender, but the beef flavor was excellent. This restaurant clearly takes pride in their food and take great care of their guests. Thanks for a delicious meal!

This was our first time, and it was exceptional. Our server/bartender Doug was outstanding. Not only did he have wonderful recommendations that we tried and loved, he was also so accommodating to our allergies and our preferred tastes. If you can afford it, it's so worth a try at least once.
