This place is something else, love the decoration! The safer area is really cool! Like all the drinks that I tried and our waitress was super sweet! They don't have a great food menu so I don't recommend for eating!
Awesome place! I really enjoyed the ambience and interesting that this place used to be a bank. Where else can you sip cocktails while in an old vault? The cocktails are good too. I had the "dark & stormy" and the "airmail" cocktails. The bar tender was also really nice. This is definitely a place I would like to come back to. Perfect place to bring a date. Dress code is dressy.
Great space. Feels like a speakeasy and the vault is very cool. Nice atmosphere and the Chardonnay was superb. Food was good to very good but not amazing and portions were small. Staff was really friendly. I will go back but not for dinner (we went early on a Friday night). This place must be jamming later. It feels like a great spot for drinking and laughing after 10:00. Had no idea it was there. A hidden gem for sure.
So to start with, The Bedford is in an old bank...and they still have the vault and huge vault doors.
Good cocktails and a really cool vault in which to drink them. The fun part is finding the open safety deposit boxes and all the notes people have dropped in them - some funny, some inspirational, some love notes. It's also nice that there is basically no cell phone reception and so you have to, you know, talk to people. I've never had the food but it didn't look nearly as inspired as the drinks or make me want to not sit in the vault and enjoy a cocktail.
Went on a Groupon and wasn't expecting it to be amazing. We were pleasantly surprised, the ambiance is very cool, in an old bank vault. The food was fantastic, they had $1 oysters and half price on all their champagne on the night we were there, great deal. The dinner itself was perfect, the scallops being the highlight of the meal.
Fantastic place! Amazing, interesting cocktails, great beer and whiskey selection. Really cool vibe with great music. This place is inside of what used to be a bank safe and has fun decor to go along with the theme. I would definitely go back!
Had a company event here in the vault. So very cool! You are literally in the vault of the bank with an actual vault door (open of course) to walk through and hundreds of safe deposit boxes on the wall. Appetizers were tasty and staff was friendly. It's easy to miss the building, it's on the corner and had only a small black awning to mark the front door. Definitely worth finding, though!
This is a great spot for drinks, especially in the beautiful old bank vault. Dinner was good but as far as food goes in the city for this caliber restaurant I think other places do food better. The presentation of the oysters was great and they were fresh. The sweet potato gnocchi is probably my favorite main dish. This is a good spot to take out of towners, or a first spot for a girls night out.
I love renovated, re-purposed spaces, and this is one of the best in the neighborhood.
This is another bank renovation, I believe Walgreens took some inspiration from their work. The old vault is a lounge and the remaining space is a clean, modern feeling restaurant/bar.
They tend to have live Jazz on Thursday nights, it can be a bit loud sitting next to the band in the vault, but a bar seat gets you just the right balance of music and attention from the bar tender.
Their cocktails are a spin on classics - a couple personal favorites are the Bedford Sling and the Cucumber Cooler.
Prices can seem a bit high, but they're really comparable to other lounges in the area (the Violet Hour, etc.). Definitely a great date night spot for drinks or dinner, a great girls night out spot for the cocktails & lounge, or just an "I just want to sit at the bar and listen to Jazz alone" spot.
Woah! This place is awesome! Located in the basement of an old bank, you can sit inside the vault with all of the safety deposit boxes still lining the walls. Super comfortable and intimate environment. Great drinks for the price too. A must visit for a cool 'speak easy' bar.
Absolutely great space, which is weird for me to say because it's a basement with no natural light. But I don't think people go here during the day anyway. Several different rooms for private events and a pretty big main room that's very stylish. The food is good if not astounding - you're going here for the scene and great cocktails at prices lower that you'd expect by looking around at the surroundings. The food is a bit pricier.
Went here for my birthday and loved it! I had the scallops and the dish is honestly one of my favorites. Walked through the vault, but didn't lounge, just stopped for a quick dinner. Definitely looking forward to going again sometime soon
Although this was said in many other posts, the restaurant is underground and it used to be an old bank. there is a bank vault in the actual place where there is seating which is really cool. It's very modern, and the atmosphere is great. Our dinner party split a lot of the starters and small plates along with the ravioli as a entrée and it was definitely enough food. Highly recommend the cauliflower fritters :)
This bank-themed establishment was a great place for dinner as a visitor to Chicago.
The burger was great value for money ($12, and delicious!) while the other entrees were around $20. Everyone in my group was happy with the food, especially the chicken and waffles.
Our waiter was awesome, and did a great job of recommending food, and making the experience pleasant.
This is a rare restaurant where ambience and exquisite food converge into a great experience. Every morsel was delicious. I I had grilled octopus which was tender and served with a subtle sauce. My dinner partner had the short ribs which were great. We both loved the old bank atmosphere and the tour we were given on the way to our seat. I found this restaurant by chance but will revisit as a destination
Haven't had the food, but wow, what a great spot for drinks. Amazing atmosphere inside the vault and well designed throughout. Your phone won't work down here so enjoy the cocktails, atmosphere, and company!
The decor is what brings you in, but the food and great drinks keep you there. It's a great spot for a larger group - the booths seat 8+ comfortably. Since we had new people in the group, all of us got a round of free champagne. Fantastic. Also, any restaurant that has pork with a fried egg and onion ring is alright by me.
Have only been here for drinks, but I love the ambiance. The place is an old bank and I love hanging out in the old safety deposit box room, now turned into a lounge. They hold a bit of a line, but if you go for dinner, then that's your way in.
