Perfect spot to enjoy the evening at this elegant, charming and cozy restaurant. Once you step into the restaurant it does feel like you are in Spain while sipping on a carefully crafted cocktail. Amazing service, from the hostess to our server to bartender really took care of our party of six.

Black bull is an excellent place for a first date because it’s an exceptional on everything. Hi-End Spanish cuisine with high quality ingredients and excellent prepared as well. Cocktails and mocktails are superb and reasonable prices. Superb services and knowledge about everything in the menu. Interior details and exceptional background music. Perfect finish with dessert and Spanish sherry wine. Don't forget to check out the restroom downstairs. It's more like the escape room to me. Love it

Tapas were delicious! Would like to see more variety added to the menu if feasible for the establishment. Wonderful ambiance and decor. Nice crowd. Wait staff very attentive and knowledgeable of the foods. Ordered the scallops which were amazing but surprised as a Tapas plate only 2 served on a bulky bowl. If you've had your share of the refreshing Sangria Caution taking the steep steps down to the restrooms (very clean). Also hear great things about the entertainment here on special nights, looking forward to coming back for that and more good times!

Tapas restaurant, moderate prices and excellent food. I had been told the bone in ribeye was exceptional here and that why I went. But I had two tapas dishes in addition, rabbit stuffed ravioli and a potato dish that was excellent. When I go back will probably skip the steak since it is so filling and try out many more of the tapas.

Me and my friends love and frequent this Spanish-oriented place. Both tapas and large plates should be given a try. Good staples like the paella negra, boquerones, conchinillo, bone marrow etc. and the grilled octopus is by far the tenderest I ever tasted anywhere else. Libation selections are always satisfactory. Sometimes it can get too dark or noisy inside. But we come here for the food hehehe.

If you're looking for a neat spot to try out a new cuisine on the weekend in the beautiful neighborhood of Wicker Park, I highly recommend this place. Black Bull offers a variety of delicious and flavorful tapas, and you can't go wrong with their chicken liver. However, their most prized possession is their talented and caring personality, Julia! When I want to evaluate my experience at a restaurant I do not solely take into account the taste of the food that I ate. I try to think about how I felt after dining and whether or not the ambiance made feel it was a positive or negative experience. Immediately upon being greeted by Julia, my friends and I felt welcomed by her smile and warm hospitality. It felt like she welcomed us into her home, and that she was ready to make our experience unforgettable. Throughout our entire visit she paid close attention to all of our needs and made sure we were always satisfied. Beyond her expansive knowledge of the menu, we were impressed by her persona and her positivity. While juggling so many tables at a time and catering to everyones needs, her energy made it seem like it was done so effortlessly. We had a great time trying out a variety of tapas, some that we never tried before. The seafood was incredibly delicious at this spot, especially the shrimp. The Chicken Liver is also a must try. Black Bull did not fail to impress us with the art created in the presentation of their dishes. Although the food was overall great, I must admit I forgot most of the names of the dishes we tried that night. However, I will never forget Julia because she was truly one of a kind. She has the best customer service, and communication skills I have ever seen in the restaurant business. Black Bull should not solely take pride in their food, but also in their outstanding staff. With professionals like Julia taking care of customers, Black Bull will never fail to impress. It's hard to imagine Black Bull without Julia, because she is what made the night so special and remarkable. Her VIP treatment will surely make us want to come back again and refer this spot to our friends. It's people like Julia that make restaurants like Black Bull sustainable and a legacy in the heart of the Chicagoland area.

What a surprise! I seriously did not know what to expect! The food was amazing! Tapas are small portions and I recommend getting two tapas per person to share. We ordered croquetas, bacon dates, gambas, and octopus. Everything was amazing. The only thing I did not care for was the meatballs, we got charge for the bread too. No freebies here! But it’s all worth having! My drinks were amazing too! And guess what Bordel in the 2nd floor will entertain you with? An erotic show! Lord! Get your friends together and come have some fun! Don’t worry it’s more of a tease show, definitely a conversation you will be having often with your friends! Lots of laughs, good music and lots or diversity!

The server (Julie) was really knowledgeable about the menu and made it easy to understand for first timers. Food is expensive and portions are small (but they're tapas so too be expected). My favorite were the croquetas, but the most filling was the huevos rotos con chorizo! Nice outdoor setting.

This was my first time at tapas so I may be a little biased but I was blown away by the quality of the food and drinks. We had a guest that was gluten and dairy free and we were able to accommodate her well with this. The scallops, jamon iberico, and cheese were all great. Best thing was the sea skate, which is basically a stingray. So flaky and delicate, with great presentation. The sangria was awesome as well, as it was not too sweet. Great for people that actually like red wine. Expensive but worth it. Below is pic of the scallop presentation.

Just enough choices on the menu to not be overwhelmed. Nice drink selections and they even had Happy Hour specials which I haven't seen much of in Chicago. Only wish our server would have asked if we have had tapas before or explained the best way to order. We had to ask after awhile how big portions were before ordering.

Busy place with some good tapas options.. the seafood paella is very different from what i have tasted before in a good way. They use squid ink to flavor the rice which i have never seen before and it taste pretty good. Friendly staff and very lively atmosphere

The best Sangria you can have in Chicago. But this place is more than that, Black Bull has a very romantic and mysterious vibe, the food is delicious and the staff very friendly and helpful.

To quote my dinner companion... "OH... MY... GAWD!" She had just recently returned from her Barcelona trip and was absolutely gushing about our meal! Everything on our plates exceeded her expectations. The service was impeccable. The staff was wonderful-wonderful-wonderful. We had nothing short of an amazing dinner experience. We will be back to sample everything on the menu, no matter how many return trips are necessary. Thank you, BB!

Lovely restaurant with terrific food and even better service. Went there with a group of friends and we could not have left happier. Would recommend you try the suckling pig and the octopus, both of which were amazing (but really everything we tried on the menu was good). Word of caution, the 40oz ribeye is dry aged and it certainly had a funky aroma associated with it (still delicious, maybe not for absolutely everyone). We had a bit of a wait before we got seated, even with a reservation, but there is a cool cocktail bar upstairs where you can hang out while you wait. Overall, great experience. We will most certainly come back.
