Their custom made cakes are the best, especially chocolate whipping cream!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Better than good. Better than awesome. It's worth a trip to have the very best.
I'm a baker and I love me some Dinkel's... When you buy something it's fresh and a real sweet treat to have once in a while! They have daily deals hard to pass up too. Many childhood birthday cakes too. Yummy...
Everything is mouth-watering delicious! Definitely worth the drive.
Though we moved to the Boston area 3 decades ago, we would stop into Dinkels when we visited Chicago. Now we order on line.
I had to move out of Chicago because of dinkels...it's too good. Every birthday cake has been from this place. The best.
Great neighborhood place that is reminiscent of 1950's Chicago.
Best cakes and chocolate donuts around. Tessa was very helpful and a shining star during the holidays.
Tried their Stollen last year and LOVED it!! The only negative is they aren't making the Dresden style Stollen this year-that was amazing and the best! with the marzipan it tasted just like what we had in Germany!
Good I never taste a cake like here...Is like heaven ...too tasty. Really nice people and good cake...Know I will get cake from here... 100% good
Had a lot of samples and 4 th generation of this family owned business gave us a talk. They have yours. Recommend the bakery and tour. Can order on line. Also will be at ChriskindlMarkt. Stock up on stollen for the holidays. A tradition at my home.
Fantastic pecan praline strudel! So happy I was introduced to this!
Shame this place must go but all good things must come to an end I guess. Came in an hour early before they open to beat the lines and was glad I did it. Doughnuts were great they were flavorful and the pastries were amazing but scarce since everyone is buying a lot at once. Spent a little over $54 for 2 dozen donuts and 2 pastries and is probably worth it since they'll be closing down soon forever. Wish I knew more about this place beforehand.
Closes permanently 30APR2022, got my last box of goodies. The donuts are not overly sweet but has that old world recipe for light, cakey donuts. But I was most impressed by the chocolate croissant. They did not skimp on the chocolate. Cheese danish was flaky and substantial. This place will be missed.
Dinkels is solid! Had a paczi that was deliciously decadent and rich, along with a fresh salt pretzel. I love their sandwiches and that they use a number system for service. It was quite packed when we were there but the staff were polite, helpful, and quick.
Disappointed in their kings cake, as it comes boxed and is starchy and not fresh.
My daughter started working there 2 months ago. And now they are closing after 101 years. So sad. A great Chicago tradition "Gone With the Wind". Mr. Dinkel, I hope you enjoy your retirement. You've earned it...
My Mom was happy happy happy to find an old school bakery in her new neighborhood. The crew was friendly and patient with her. She was extremely pleased with her cookies, danishes and cake.
Delightful bakery! Phenomenal donuts, cakes, cookies, pastries and so much more. Walk in, grab a ticket and marvel at your options. I wish I could try everything they offer! It was overwhelming in a very special, nostalgic way!
Very good German bakery that has been around for many years and has become a staple in the community. They make some delicious cookies, upside down pineapple cakes, donuts, bread and plenty of other pastries. They also have a section to the left side as you walk in, where they sell breakfast and lunch sandwiches. If you go right before they close for the day, ask them or look for the items that are heavily discounted. They only have street parking, so if you go late, make sure you allow time for finding a parking spot.
