Many trips to Chicago, but I’ve never had a Chicago dog! Checked this place out, because it was close to our hotel. Decent hot dog, fries weren’t much to look at, but were somehow cooked to perfection. Grabbed their Pilsner from the bar, which was also good. Would definitely come again.

Old School Haunt with Excellent Food & Great Service!! Food -- on the recommendation of a friend, had to stop in for some burgers and dogs. Got the Chicago Dog was solid and Double Cheeseburger was great! It is a counter service and they have all the toppings you can add yourself to burgers, including pickles, ketchup, mayo, mustard, onions, etc. The burger was a throwback to small town burger stands with fresh patties that hit just right. Chicago Dog was strong, but after having several others around town, it's a high bar to meet. Drinks -- there is a true bar that is separate of the food counter. It's like 2 places in one. It is a full bar and bartender with TVs (Sox were on this day). Got a Miller Lite draft and it went down well with the burger and dog. Vibe -- a cool old school vibe with many historical pictures of famous celebrities eating there (there's an Obama burger on the menu), some old posters and various memorabilia. Unique setup that allows to order food and grab beer separately, making it easier for ordering. Service -- helpful, friendly and fast. The toppings bar is a nice touch and seems to allow the workers to focus on the burgers and dogs and allow for patrons to add all other toppings. Value -- good value for what you get, the taste, and service. Especially in the age of $13 Five Guy burgers. Overall -- if you're looking for a piece of true Chicago, and old school haunt with excellent food, strong service, and great bar!!

Billy Goat Tavern's hot dog was delicious! We tried it while doing a walking tour around Chicago, and came away very impressed with this dog. The actual restaurant space was less interesting, and I can't speak to the other options on the menu, but I definitely enjoyed the hot dog at the Billy Goat Tavern location.

To me, the best of the 3 locations. Love the service and portions. Food is fabulous every time, and the price Is just great for this city.

This place is totally old school. With all respect, the food is nothing special. However, the atmosphere is such that it's worth stopping by at least once when in Chicago.

Great Burgers for an awesome price. Everything was made to order. The atmosphere was laid back and clean. A place where you can relax and you could also have a drink. It was also very clean.

The Billy Goat brand name is great and I was here for my first breakfast. Veggie omelette was really good and the price also was good. I tried also ham and cheese omelette…. 👍 7.99 dollars for each of omelette, that’s ok !!!!! They have not fresh orange juice 😔 Come here and try !!!!!!

Lived up to the reputation of a great place to grab Chicago style food. Remember don't ask for ketchup on a Hot Dog and you will be in on the Chicago way.

Simple, reliable burger place with good prices. You can add your own sauce, onion and pickle toppings yourself. The fries are huge and crispy.

Went here on a food tour. Had an amazing Chicago hotdog with all the toppings. Looked at the menu to see the price and it was very reasonable also.

Very yummy Cheeseburgers at a reasonable price! One of my favorites in Chicago! Food was Fresh and cooked fast! Loved the Bun and Burger itself. Friendly Staff. Sketchy location and sketchy crowd outside though.. Just be careful and watch your back!

When it comes to burger I’m looking for something really basic, so this’s the right spot, basic beef and buns but so authentic and delicious, you can add you pickles and onions by yourself, also very affordable. Def I’ll come back here soon.

The Billy Goat does what they do better than any other joint in Chitown. No matter the location, amazing ingredient quality without the crazy prices. They are what they are because they earned it all!

I give it five stars because it serves my need incredibly well. I lived in a hotel nearby and there are those high end restaurants around. I was alone and I just wanted to have some quiet time, some decent (but not fancy and expensive) food, and probably a beer or two. In the noisy, crowded, and expensive downtown Chicago, I came here at dinner time on a weekday. The dining area was quiet. I ordered a Chicago dog for $6 and French fries for $2.50 (in downtown Chicago!). There was a separate bar. No loud music or chat. People sat around and some were on their phones and some were reading newspapers. I would not mind sitting here for 2+ hours just to stay calm and cool...
