Reviews Ronero

This place is a Latin themed restaurant. The co-owner and exec. Chef Cory Morris has had exec. Chef positions at Mercat a al Planxa and Rural Society which are both in Chicago and he had won the overall championship on the TV show Chopped. In other words he has great skills and it shows here as it did when we delighted in his food at the two places listed above. Our entrees included scallops, a classic Latin favorite chicken and rice, skirt steak and a hamburger. My burger came with yucca fries which I never had before. They were seasoned with a lemony-garlic aioli and were great, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The skirt steak was very tender and juicy and the scallops and chicken were also cooked perfectly. We had the octopus and empanadas for apps and flan and donuts with chocolate sauce for dessert. My wife said this was the best food she ever had and she's fussy. 😉. I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend it. They know what they are doing.

The atmosphere at Ronero will impress! I took 3 others to this inviting but intimate space. The tasteful ambiance let us focus on conversation and food. The black bean/feta appetizer with crisp plantains was an easy starter, and both salads were winners. The surprise hit for our table was the ceviche, served in a coconut milk broth (which I traditionally don't like). The meat dish (pork and mango with brussels dish) was too good; we ordered a second. The vegetarian entree (rice and saffron butternut squash) did not disappoint against its counterpart. Dessert was a denser and creamier take on flan, versus a rice pudding bowl, brought out and explained by the chef. Both were stellar for taking a basic treat to a complex and new level. We planned to explore the cocktail menu but ended up falling hard for the Cadejo Blanco (rum with pineapple, lime, cilantro and jalapeno) and sticking with it for the whole dinner. Do not miss the opportunity to treat yourself to Ronero; our table left debating who had the best time and meal last night!

Loved Ronero and will definitely be back. Best service I have had at a restaurant/bar in recent memory (thanks for the ropa vieja and dictador!), delicious bites, on point atmosphere and a selection of rums that will keep us returning. As a true rum lover, its great to find a place with such a large library to choose from. Glad to have found this new gem!

This place is amazing! If you want a fun, classy, and all around great spot in Chicago - go here! Staff is extremely friendly and will cater to all your needs. Food and Drinks are 100% on point. People are friendly and everyone has a great time there! Nils and his team are undoubtedly the best hosts Chicago has to offer. Must go to spot.

Totally amazing food. Amazing drink menu. I can't say enough good things about this place. The Decour was also excellent especially the handcrafted wood ceiling and the different glittery chandeliers. My husband and I are foodies and we get around to a lot of restaurants But the food and drinks here we're very unique and at the same old Gastro pub stuff that keeps happening out there. We are definitely going back again to experience everything else we didn't eat!

Awesome cocktails, food, ambience, and service. We tried the ceviche, the goat, the hangar steak, and the pork belly with brussel sprouts, everything was spot on excellent. We will be back. Seriously, we've tried so many new places, this one really hit it. The flavors were intriguing, and delicious.

Delicious dinner. Tried the empanadas, whole snapper, oysters and dessert. Everything was very good, really enjoyed the snapper on a bed of cola rice, topped with plantains and pickled mango. Shelby our server was very informative and accommodating. Will return.

Amazing! Food is great and the atmosphere is sexy and classy. The general manager made our experience out of this world, I believe his name is JP. I definitely recommend this place. The food is to die for.

The food was all quite good. We got the happy hour special: $5 cava with three oysters. Patio seating was nice on a beautiful day, but the inside had a cool vibe, too. I recommend the ceviche with a passion fruit sauce (yum) and the bread starter was pretty excellent. Yuzu fries were pretty good, the dipping sauce for them was even better!

An all around enjoyable experience. I tried the Empanadas and the Carne Ronero (pictured). Everything tasted fresh and just the right amount of flavor. I will definitely be back to taste more of the menu!

Last night, y’all hosted us for our holiday party and we had such an awesome time! It was upstairs in your hosting room where there was space to sit and chat. The music level for that mixing and mingling time was perfect. The appetizers were amazing as well and the desserts were on point too. The included drink selection was great as well! People loved the customized mixed drink y’all fashioned for our group! Then when the time came to close out the private party and let the dancing begin, the music was really good and your regular crowd was so friendly! They blended right into our group! So, thanks again for a fun night and a great way to celebrate our year behind and more importantly our year to come!

The BEST service! We sat at the bar and tried the cocktail flights. Everything was delicious! And not many restaurants have happy hour deals on Saturday so that was a huge bonus. Our bartenders were so nice and gave us nice treats at the bar too. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good place to go in west loop.

Great new place on Randolph! Great style all the way around and the food and drinks are great (even if you don't consider yourself a rum drinker). I just went for dinner, which was excellent, but also understand that it is a fun scene on the weekends in the upstairs area (I'll definitely be back to check that out). Overall, a great addition to the neighborhood.

Went to Romero on my birthday. They accommodated a group of 10. Very quick service, everything we tried was delicious. I loved the octopus and the picanha in particular. The device is also great. Must go to Esco Bar after dinning.

I absolutely 100% recommend this place! We grabbed two seats at the bar, which was mostly filled on a Tuesday evening. I asked if they had anything spicy. They recommended the cadejo blanco., so I gave this a try. It was very well balanced and had a cilantro and jalapeno garnish. It was very good! My husband got the bonbilla, also per their recommendation and he liked it a lot. The bar area is cool and I actually like the vibe in the front a little better because it's quieter and they are playing salsa music. Also, all of their cocktail glasses are vintage so you probably won't get the same ones as your companions, which I thought was super cool. The back has a small view into the kitchen but you can see all of the expoing being done so you know the food is getting cared for. I thought all of the decor was on point, especially all of the exposed brick. It was Latin American meets hipster meets simple elegance. Dalan was absolutely outstanding. The menu has small plates and entree potions and it was explained that it is intended to share a few small plates but for each to get their own entree. Instead we shared a bunch of small plates and one larger entree. I have been two Chef Cory's other two spots and honestly think the food here is his best. Of course the menu is smaller but because of the size of the kitchen, he really has more control over everything coming out of the kitchen and can ensure the quality. Overall, dishes were elevated comfort food with some unexpected flavors. All of the plating was beautiful. He also walks around the dining room talking to the patrons, which is awesome. Truthfully, I would order everything I got again, including the free dessert (it was my birthday) of dulce de leche with outstanding caramel. There were only two of us but we tried a lot on the menu so here goes! The daily empanadas were pork three ways. They were crispy on the outside. The filling was super tasty and they were stuffed full. The ceviche was a huge star. The preparation is with coconut, which adds a tropical flare to the flavor profile but what was very interesting was the corn nuts for texture. Ceviche needs some crunch and because of the heavier coconut, the corn nuts really came through. We knew we would like the albondigas, which we did. This was certainly a different combination than I'm used to with the peanut sauce but sent it almost in an Asian direction. I thought it was extremely tasty. The matambre was seriously delish. The cured beef is not like anything I've ever had before. The egg added such a richness to the dish as well. For me, the star was the cordero. Lamb is my favorite meat followed by duck and I love it but since I have it so frequently, it is hard to impress me. Not only was it cooked to a perfect medium rare, but just wherever they get this lamb, it has such an outstanding flavor to it. It was lamb at its best. The potatoes had Iberco ham in them and to die for. Phenomenal meal from start to finish!

I went here with a group of four for dinner just a few weeks after the restaurant opened. The meal was outstanding. We started off with the ceviche and empanadas, both were delicious. I had Ronero's version of a burger for my main dish and was blown away. I've had a lot of great burgers in this city, and while it isn't a traditional burger, it now ranks as one of my favorites. Definitely give this place a shot - very impressive.

Lovely upscale Nuevo Latin American/Caribbean restaurant in "Randolph row". Low lit, dark woods, and metal accents make for a very swanky, intimate feel. The cocktail list is extensive, and features twists on classics, as well as innovative, new concoctions. Their drinks aren't to be missed! I had trouble deciding, they all looked so good! The food was absolutely outstanding. Try the Dorado (mahi-mahi), black bean dip with plantains, any of their salads, as well as their desserts. Everything was plated beautifully, and the flavor was out of this world. I will definitely be back. Everything about this place was great. *Though, to be noted, it gets very busy, so make a reservation ahead of time, even during a weeknight.

A regular of mine is the father of the restaurants owner. I over-heard his wife talking about a place in West Loop with really good food and cocktails. I mentioned that my boyfriend and I switch off choosing new places for date night. It's become a little competitive... And started asking questions... Being so close to my apartment, hearing about the background of the place, and looking at the menu. I was sold. The father actually called the owner and made me reservations for 2. We had starters -- the Empanadas and Ensalada Verde. SO SO GOOD. Also, we both had a house cocktail. After walking in, the great service, and seeing 2 cocktails containing Rose (i'm obsessed with ALL things flavored Rose), I officially found my groups new spot for dinner and drinks. -- SN: Obsessed with the picture downstairs (:
