Frontera Fresco has the best sandwiches!
They are made to order and the breads, the meat, and veggies are all fresh. The result is a great sandwich, fresh and hot off the grill for a wonderful meal.
The best thing about their sandwich is the flavors. It is well seasoned and sooo tasty.
I'm very sad they don't offer tamales here anymore, they we're amazing. The salsa is great, the steak taco (carne asada) is good. The tortilla soup was very salty for some reason when I last visited, it didn't used to taste that way.
Really good Mexican food, especially for being in a small food court. This place is on floor 7 of the historic Macy's building. The tortas and tacos are very good, go for the chorizo.
Best chicken Tortilla soup in the city!
The line can get long during lunch, but well worth it.
This is my go to place in ORD airport. I am so glad that they have a downtown location near where I work. Cubana Torta is always my favourite!
7/10 on the tacos. They had good flavor and is an excellent lunch, but not a place I would go versus all the choices in the city. The tortillas were good as well as the sauce, but there were a few missteps. The cochinita pubil was clumped together causing there to be very dry spots in the meat. The spoon full of avocado on the carne asada was hard to eat as a giant chunk.
Freaking awesome! Seriously delicious. I got the shrimp quesadilla and shared chips and guacamole with my friend. She had steak tacos. The shrimp quesadilla was so good. I spent $12 on lunch which is by no means a cheap quick lunch but it was so worth it. I'd definitely go back when I have time for a long lunch. You wait in line to get your food for awhile. But I can totally see why.
I had their corn poblano chowder and it was delicious! The green salsa needs more of a kick but the guac was fresh and good. Worth checking out if you’re downtown. They have a lot of other options such as tortas, tacos, etc.
This is one of the few really good lunch spots downtown, though it gets very busy around noon on weekdays. I recommend the steak huaraches, which includes mushrooms, onions, cheese, and cilantro. The guacamole is also delicious, and you can add various toppings to the guac.
Quick and not too crowded even at lunch time during the week. The salad with roasted goat cheese and salmon is always spot on. Friendly staff and you can also get a frequent diner's punch card.
Best food court food. Even among Mexican food this is great. If you are looking for something to eat around the area, come here!
Update: they no longer have the tamales which was the best thing in the menu. Downgrading my rating.
Great ambiance - as busy of a mall that this is, it's pretty quiet and peaceful throughout the day. Chips and guac was decent, nothing special. But the Cubana was on point - great flavor with a little spice. Would also recommend the fresh juices.
You've done it again Rick! And p.s. why didn't I find this place sooner? My life is complete now.
Everything on the menu looked so appealing it was hard to choose. Quesadillas? Torta? Tamal? Soup? Salad? Ugh... I wanted it all!
I decided on the chicken chipotle tamal. Served on an oval plate in an open corn wrapper. So beautifully presented for a restaurant where you order at the counter. I also had the tortilla soup with fresh avocado and melt in your mouth cheese.Oh boy, I savored each bite.
This is a great way to get excellent quality food without spending a fortune or waiting hours for a table.
