Excellent bar staff. Very knowledgeable and passionate in creating numerous cocktails from their volume of recipes/menu. The bartenders are also willing to go "off menu" and play with some creative cocktails based on a few questions of your likes and dislikes. I've sampled from both the regular menu and the bartender choice and I infinitely prefer the bartender choice, mostly because of the enthusiasm displayed by the bartender as they whip-up something special. Food menu is very limited but delicious.

Beautiful bar, friendly staff, amazing food and drinks. Quiet atmosphere. The seating lends itself to small groups. You can have a conversation and relax without feeling crowded or eavesdropped.

Low key, dimly-lit cocktail bar with a speakeasy atmosphere. There's a piano and pool table upstairs. There was a small group of flapper girls when I went in one evening and it really played up to the 20's vibe. Loved it!

An absurd amount of excellent cocktails. Romantic feel inside. Bartenders are friendly but leave you alone because, romance. :) Almost everyone in there is on a date - I probably wouldn't bring a pack of bros inside but maybe one bro. :)

Great spot to grab beer and or cocktails. They have an additional bar area inside upstairs. The cocktails were well made. They are unique and flavorful. The pricing was on par with the area. Service was good. I would recommend this spot to start the night off or to grab a few cocktails after dinner.

One of my favorite cocktail bars in the city. Excellent atmosphere/ambiance that feels like a speakeasy. If you go to the back and put your name in you'll get a call when you can go upstairs to a more intimate floor that feels even more like a speakeasy and is less crowded and quieter. Food menu is really solid too. Great for a date if you want to impress.

I love coming here for cocktails--easily the best in the city. My favorite drink is the dark 'n' stormy and I'd say they make the best one in Chicago. The food was good, but the food service was pretty slow. They forgot my friend's food as well. The waiter promptly brought it out and didn't charge us for the burger, which was a really nice gesture.

This is a great spot for a first date. The cocktail menu is extensive and the bar tenders are very knowledgeable. I asked them to make something based on the tastes I liked and was not disappointed. It’s also not too crowded, but not too empty on a Saturday night. Upstairs is very classy.

Top notch cocktails. I had been looking for a place like this for a couple months and finally found it. Don't be surprised if your drink comes in a glass you don't recognize, they've got lots of different styles for the drinks they serve, which is a ton by the way. IF you can find a few items on the menu that interest you, then maybe you should stick to beer. Atmosphere is dark, but not dingy. Bartenders are attentive and friendly and care if you enjoy the drink they made you - easy to have small talk with.

I visited on a Monday night around 9pm. It was pretty quiet, but by 10pm every take was full so it wasn't awkward. Seems like a good place for a date, and it was a great place to catch up with friends from out of town. Huge, and fantastic, cocktail menu with tons of excellent liquor available. Bar food is also great, the fried pickles and Umami fries were great with the drinks. Service was also great - between one bartender and one guy working the floor, they took very good care of us. I highly recommend!

Really enjoyed my first visit here. Great atmosphere and decorum. The staff are all super friendly and laid back. Upstairs was very relaxing and the piano player was very enjoyable. The drinks were superb and expertly crafted with an eclectic selection. Definitely going back before they close for good which is very sad.

Overall, some of my favorite cocktails in Chicago. The Barrelhouse Flat has great service and is a prohibition-style cocktail lounge. Definitely my go to place for a tasty cocktail in the area. They have an extensive selection, and some cocktail experts to help guide you to something you'll like. You can't go wrong.

This is one of my favorite places to go for drinks in Chicago, however you have to get there early. The tables will be snatched up quickly, and people will usually stay there for hours. You can easily be stuck waiting for 2hrs for a table on a Friday or Saturday night. However once you do snag a seat, you will enjoy darkly lit, wood paneled rooms with luxurious furnishings. The drinks list is delicious, sophisticated, and high quality. The appetizers are unique, and they have some wonderful vegetarian options as well.

Oh, what a wonderful cocktail bar! I would say I don't really like cocktails, but I told the bartender what I like and he made the BEST amaretto sour I've ever had!! He mixed egg white in there and it made a yummy white froth on top, so I highly recommend. I also tried the griddle burger and it's almost as good as Au Cheval with the double patties. FYI, the food menu is limiting so I would check it out in advance if you're planning on eating there but it's definitely worth checking out.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best bar, as well as my favorite bar in Chicago. I've been coming here since November 2011, and always make sure this my one of my stops whenever I'm out in Lincoln Park. Whenever I have friends in town, I always make sure to bring them here. The staff are amazing, knowledgeable, and friendly. The drinks are delicious and meticulously crafted. I honestly can't say enough positives about this bar, the ownership, or the staff.

One of my favorite, if not my favorite cocktail spots in the city. This is the place to come on a Friday or Saturday night. Love the swanky decor downstairs and upstairs. Sit at the bar and chat with the bartenders and they will make you some of the best drinks you have ever had in the city. Make sure to order a side of fries too (kitchen is open late!)

Cocktail bar with a speakeasy feel. The downstairs features bar seating, high tables, and large leather booths. The room is made of dark wood and features a subtle view of the kitchen. Make your way to the back to be seated in the more intimate upstairs. If seating is available, follow the hostess up a stairway lit by red satin chandeliers, where you'll be seated in the coolest room in the place. Leather couches and armchairs encircle low tables. A live piano player plays ragtime. A party room features pool. Great cocktails, spirits, and food.

The upstairs is superb, great atmosphere and it’s fairly easy to get a game in on the pool table. Drinks are very good too. Only issue is that the upstairs closes fairly early. The downstairs area is just average. So make sure to arrive early enough to get a spot upstairs and have enough time to enjoy it.
