Incredible experience! Everything was top notch here (service, food, atmosphere). I went with my boyfriend who has celiac disease and he had so many gluten free options to choose from! They had a dedicated fryer which meant the chips (+ grasshoppers) were celiac-safe! Big fan of the Prix Fixe menu - very reasonable price for all the (delicious) food you get!

Absolutely fell in love with this restaurant! Love Oaxaca food and the Mezcal selection they had were great! They started us off with black beans and chips on the house. I ordered a tamarindo water and for appetizers we had garnacha, tamale verde, tlayuda de chorizo. My partner was still hungry and ordered a entree which was barbacoa de borrego. I on the other hand had no more space so ordered dessert. This place is definitely a must and the patio was super comfortable.

Food: Great place for margaritas (pretty strong) and the food will absolutely blow you away. Not a single dish let us down. We ordered about 10 dishes (5 of us, but we definitely stuffed ourselves), but some of the standouts were the huitlacoche quesadillas, rainbow trout stuffed with crab (special), mushrooms baked in banana leaf, ceviche, and flan. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Also, this place is very vegetarian or meat friendly. Service: Service is awesome. Our server came at the right cadence and always made sure our drinks were flowing. Atmosphere: Indoor and outdoor seating, super lively, and colorful. Great for hanging out with friends!

Polo Con Mole Rojo was succulent with the best mole I have ever eaten. Tamales Oaxaquenos are delicious - impossible to eat just one (we took some to go!) of course the Mole was so amazing we ordered the Polo Con Mole Enchilada - I could eat this every day! Vanilla Flan is a must-have as is the latest and newest dessert, Bread Pudding. Don’t leave this diamond along the lake without carryout!! You will thank me for it…oh….order a Margarita!!!

The food here is incredible! Highly recommend the enchiladas de pollo (chicken) and the barbacoa de borrego (lamb) as well as the sopa de elote. They’ve also got great drinks and I appreciate that they make them with fresh fruit and no sugary syrups or mixes. The service was great alongside the top-notch food. During the week, they have a Pre-Fixe Menu, which is a ton of food! Order it if you want leftovers. Items on their own are reasonably priced as well for what you get.

Easily in my top 3 Mexican restaurants. Kie-Gol-Lanee (meaning old rock) is serving up authentic Oaxacan food with awesome service. We got the Hultlacoche Quesadillas to starts off. It was served on a home made thick green tortilla with hot sauce and guacamole on the side. Probably the best quesadilla I've had, make sure to use your fork and knife it's stuffed. We also got the Ceviche Tostadas. This had the perfect balance of lime, onion, and shrimp. One could tell it was fresh. He had the pork and green salsa tamal and I had the skirt steak. The steak was cooked medium rare as requested, don't sleep on the grilled veggies under the cut of meat! Their service is delightful. These folks want to take care of you and checked in on us frequently. They know how to do hospitality.

The mole with the enchiladas is top tier in the city. I am a fervent green chile kinda guy for my enchiladas but that mole was excellent and had some amazing depth to the flavor. The tamale was excellent. Ordered the puerco en mole verde (green mole and pork). It was so fresh and flavorful. It was the perfect contrast to the mole with the enchiladas. I had excellent service and they were friendly and helpful with menu questions. Worth every penny.

We were in the area and decided to pop in for lunch and we were pleasantly surprised at the excellent food and service we got. The menu had all the staples you're used to with some very specialized menu options that our waiter was more than happy to explain to us. All the food was delicious and we loved that the tortillas and drinks were made in house. I would definitely go again to try out some of the other specialties.

Delicious Oaxacan food in a cozy mom & pop vibe restaurant. One of the few places in Chicago that serves Chapulines (grasshoppers) and some of the best I’ve had actually! I get 2 to 3 orders each time I go! They also have huitlacoche quesadillas, it’s hard to find huitlacoche dishes in Chicago in general (yes, I know they come from a can, but blue corn smut fungus is hard to find dangit!) Also have tepache & corn drink. Have to check it out if you like Mexican food!

Owners and staff are extremely friendly. The food is as traditional as the dishes you eat at Oaxaca. This I wine of the best Chicago Mexican restaurants.

First time here and it did not disappoint! I would recommend trying the tlacoyos de frijoles, chicken and pork tamales and the arrachera tlayudas. The tres leches for dessert is a must!

We love this authentic Mexican Oaxacan restaurant so much we came back for the second night in a row! The mole is incredible! All the flavors are just amazing. The restaurant's name is from the indigenous Zapotec language of Oaxaca state.

We visited on a quiet Sunday afternoon and started with the complimentary table chips and black bean dip. Ordered two waters, the lime and tamarindo, both delicious with the lime being extra tart. I ordered the Javali in salsa verde. The meat was super tender and the nopales were the perfect crunch. My partner had the enchiladas in mole and they were authentic, well seasoned and delicious. We both ate every single bite off our plates. We also ordered a new dessert they have, Nicuatole. The mint and lime were the perfect end to that wonderful meal. Between the top notch service and the decadent menu, we will def be coming back, no doubt about it.

What a wonderful brunch experience! The ambiance is cozy and takes you right to Oaxaca. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and make great recommendations. For brunch, they offer bottomless mimosas and spiced coffee with cinnamon sticks and dashes of mezcla, and all the food has impeccable texture, flavor, and the freshest ingredients. Kie-Gol-Lanee is truly one of most unique brunch spots in the city.

Couldn't recommend this place more. I was happy to discover traditional Oaxacan food thanks to Kie-Gol-Lanee. Their Tlayudas are a must! I tried the one with chorizo and it was delicious. I also recommend the Tlacoyos and the beet salad as appetizers. If you are looking for a drink, they have an extensive menu and I recommend trying the tamarindo margarita (but with Mezcal) — it was a great combo. Service was top notch and I appreciated the option to sit outside on a nice summer night. I'd definitely be back!

Love this place for an intimate dinner, and love their tacos and tlayudas for take-out. Have tried many of their apps and entrees over multiple visits, and have gotten consistently excellent food and great service. Used to be BYOB but now serve beer, wine, and cocktails. Highly recommend!
