I'm not from Chicago, I was out for a walk and stumbled upon this place. It reminded me of a classic Italian eatery from the movies. The stuffed cheese sticks weren't cheese sticks,
They were cheese logs! HUGE... and the marinara sauce with them was incredible. The stuffed shells with vodka sauce and chicken were incredible! Also had the thin crust pizza with Canadian bacon and pineapple. It was excellent! Lily was our server, she was so cute and helpful.
Saw a clip on IG about Palermo's of 63rd, figured we'd stop in the next time we were in the city.
Definitely worth the 45 minute ride from the MCACN show!
Classic styling building, neat family photos of the owners history on the walls, and great atmosphere.
Figured we would sample a few items, and it was definitely a good choice! The tomato sauce has a slight sweet and oregano taste, excellent fresh and reheated! Cheese Ravioli was excellent, as was the Classic and deep-dish pizza.
Italian Beef sandwich was good reheated 2 days later, even without the au-ju.
We will definitely be back with family the next time we come to Chicago!
Typical old school neighborhood pizza place with exceptional pizza. The sauce was amazing. Perfect combo of ingredients and cooked just right. Possibly the best pizza I have ever had.
Tried Palermo's for the first time after reading positive reviews. Ordered several pizzas with different crusts and toppings. As others have mentioned, the sauce is definitely on the sweet side, but still good. We went with one paper thin and one regular thin crust. Neither are as thin as tavern style, but we did prefer the paper thin. More chewy than crisp. Service was good, and the complimentary lemon sorbet was a nice touch.
Best pizza in Chicago and anywhere else I've ever been. The reviews calling the sauce watered down, or it's too sweet. They don't know good pizza.. I've been going here my entire life until I moved out of state.. I still go out of my way every time I'm back to get a pizza. Oh, and FYI, you're dealing with real Italians. They're going to curse and possibly be rude. That's how we roll😁
Amazing food and fantastic service! If you are in Chicago I would highly recommend you dropping buy! Will be going again on my next visit. Pizza bread appetizer melts in the mouth, chicken Alfredo is simply devine, service is second to none, our server was friendly and helpful without being in your face but always there when needed.
We came here after the original restaurant we wanted to eat at was full and didnt wanna go to some tourist trap downtown. You know you've struck gold when you find an old Italian restaurant owned by the same guy since its inception decades ago and he comes out and greets his patrions, thick accent and all! The interior is old and vintage (adds to the charm!) and the walls are full of autographed photos of random and obscure Bears players and celebrities who have dined here through the years. The food is amazing!! So worth driving a half hour out of the way for. He also gave us the bill on a hand written ticket 😂 and gave us free dessert. this is everything I could ever want in a restaurant. This is exactly how it should be done.
The one drawback is the price. Be prepared to open your wallet here because it is not cheap. It was 100% worth it to us, but it was the most expensive restaurant we have ever eaten at for 2 people and an appetizier. Totally understand with this economy and all, but something worth noting! Thanks for an amazing meal!!!
Been eating here all 23 years living here! Best pizza hands down. 95th Palermo's is good for a date night but 63rd is for the aesthetic and vibes. Can't beat this place. You're a fool if you skip Palermo's for pop n pizza or Monica's. You don't know nothing about a good pizza until you come here. Best damn gnocchi I've had EVER.
The classic. Can't beat. I only ever get their takeout pizza, but I've been eating it since I was a toddler and it's been the exact same for 30 years. I don't even live in Chicago anymore but I always pick one up when I'm on my way through.
There are glitzy resteraunts in the world. This place is like going to grampas house . Where Frank is a master and humble. He just does what he does. If you want a craft cocktail. Go somewhere else. You want glamorous surroundings, you have options. If you want the very best pizza you will ever taste. Order out or better yet have dinner some calamari and Frank will most likely meet with you bless you but in more ways than you can imagine. And maybe he will comp some ice cream.
I just wanted to thank You for another delicious Pizza! We've been eating Palermos Pizza 🍕 since the 1970's always very good. Thank you for the consistency of your product.
The best lobster ravioli I have ever had in my life. This is by far the best traditional pizza I have ever eaten. I had to go to Chicago to get it. The owner should open up a spot in Houston.
Old School Chicago Pizzeria down the street from us, always get a XL thin crust, and it’s always perfect. Love the sauce and crust! Deff highly recommend this long running staple of the South Side!
Some of the best pizza in chicago! Great pizza and a fantastic sweet sauce that they are known for. Even better, great service as well!
The restaurant has a 60s vibe that has stayed along since it's inception but the owner is such a kind person and everyone working treats you like family. The pizza has a crispy crust with a sweet sauce. Some might not prefer sweet sauce but I do and it was great!
