Favorite bar in the Gold Coast, hands down. And Daniel is one of the best bartenders around! Check this spot out. From their burger to their simple greens salad to their salmon... AND their shishito peppers... amazing.
❤ ❤ ❤. Did I tell you I ❤this place? Great service - dog friendly patio - great bbq
Great food and service, I went for brunch and ate the Hash and was not disappointed. I am going back for the chicken in fact I want to hit the whole menu
OMG! I absolutely loved this place! I went for my bday a couple of weeks ago and they exceeded my expectations! Our waitress was phenomenal. The food was amazing! Our waitress was nice enough to bring us a candle holder upon my request. Loved loved loved everything! Will definitely be back. Thanks for making my birthday a memorable experience ✨️ 💖
Great experience!!! The food was well seasoned and my medium well steak was cooked to perfection. But the highlight was the Sundae Tower. So many delicious toppings for the mounds of ice cream that you and a partner can enjoy together.
The lighting was too dark for my liking. I understand that ambience and low lights are a staple for some upscale restaurants. But I think the food speaks for itself and so more light wouldn't hurt.
The only issue with service as that the staff poured sauces on our dishes without our permission. Someone at our table wanted to try the sauces first before it was poured.
Just a wonderful 5⭐️ experience all around. There’s no wonder why it’s rated so high. The service is impeccable, special thanks to Livia. The crudo was so light and fresh. The meatballs were wonderful. The Eisenhower was a dream…tender and juicy. The only thing I didn’t love was the French onion soup. Gratin potatoes, Mac and cheese…10/10.
If you want a dinner and a show, Maple & Ash is the place to go. First off, I'll start by saying the food is absolutely delicious and the staff is amazing. Sarah, our wonderful waitress was a gem and provided the best service anyone could ever ask for. The food was exceptional, but no one really goes for the food - they really go to people watch. Men with little blue pills in their pockets, mingle around, waiting to snag a hot date for the night. Instagram influencers are there hoping to score a rich husband. This place was absolutely insane - the restaurant can get away with pricing their food outrageously high because people are being presented with such a crazy show. From people attempting to have $*# at their table to doing lines of €o%e at their table, you will never walk away without a story to tell!
favourite steakhouse. ambiance is absolutely incredible. maintains the integrity of a high end steakhouse with an edgy, modern twist.
food was nothing short of fantastic - every course was a 10/10 and i can say this restaurant had the best dessert and drinks. very carefully crafted and curated and it shows. they have a firey/wood theme going on which i absolutely loved and this is true across the restaurant with the dishes, the flavours and ambiance.
they take the time to really describe the flavours when they bring the food and the sources of the food which i really appreciated.
top quality experience - through and through this is hands down my favourite restaurant and i’ve tried it in 2 states.
i attached some pictures - i also had a steak and lobster, mashed potatoes Brussels sprouts and everything was just fantastic!
Had the pleasure of spending my anniversary here. Oh my goodness 😳 This place is perfection. Vibes? Check. Food? Double Check. Ambiance? Checked. Service? Indescribable and check. We had drinks in lounge from the bar and those were amazing. Food was so good. Closed at 10P and we walked out at 11P full and happy. My hubby is hard to please and he had no complaints from starter to dessert. Look? Don't even think about not trying this place. Book now for your next event, holiday, team outing, birthday, anniversary. Just know, it's just that good. Thank you for an amazing anniversary dinner. ❤️
My fiancée surprised me with reservations here on my birthday! I loved it! The waiter was nice and patient. Their mac n cheese was amazing. The personal menu was a fun and cute idea. My only complaint was that our table was wobbly and with cutting the steak, I felt like our candles were going to tip over. I had to have my foot over the table leg the whole time. Also I didn’t like how I wasn’t facing my partner, I had to sit in corner facing about 6 couples down the row. Valet parking was convenient and they were efficient! Would recommend to friends.
Beautiful steakhouse with excellent service.
We had a seafood platter, big serving, very delicious. Steaks are very good, being their specialty. The sides were good, but not as spectacular as the steaks & seafood.
We had 2 bottles of wine, which the sommelier helped me pick out: a lovely crisp grower's Champagne, and a delicious Pinot from Willamette Valley.
Highly recommended.
How can you miss this spot? In fact, the hottest spot in Chicago.
Their menu can be quite extensive, but you were definitely want to try their steaks and seafood towers are a most.
So much to mention, but one thing I can guarantee you if you’ll be delighted by an outstanding service at phenomenal dishes.
My favorites.
Hot seafood tower make you key your server know that you want the whole show.
Their steaks
Carpaccio
Sashimi & tataki dishes
Ask the sushi chef for the fav rolls
Now you like wine? They have plenty
Tequila?
Mezcal?
Their beverage program and options is top notch.
I ate here twice. One time outside and the other inside. Inside it’s a very beautiful steakhouse. Very clean and upscale. Service is very exceptional with that caliber. Servers were very attentive. We tried the pro seafood tower, Eisenhower, whipped and buttered potatoes, brussel sprouts, coconut cream pie, and the chocolate cake. Prices are expensive of course since it is a $$$$ restaurant. Overall like a ⅘.
-pro seafood tower ⅗ - when sharing with people, I wished there was more crab and lobster to go around. A lot of clams and oysters but could also use more prawn for the price.
-eisenhower 5/5 - porterhouse cooked medium rare. Juicy and tender. Bone marrow that came with it was delish.
-whipped and buttered potatoes 5/5 - nice and buttery. Texture was very smooth. This is a must for sides.
-brussel sprouts ⅗ - it was good but nothing extraordinary.
-coconut cream pie 5/5 - I love the crunchiness of the graham crust and the coconut custard had a nice creamy texture.
-the chocolate cake 5/5 - candied hazelnuts were flavorful. Chocolate was not too rich. Good ice cream.
I walked into Maple & Ash with the highest of expectations to celebrate my birthday dinner. The steakhouse glowed with dim lighting and the soft flickering of candlelight, giving it an elegant and refined feel. The waiter led us to our table where we were greeted with a menu that was personalized with my name and birthday wishes. A small gesture, but it made me feel special.
As we settled in, the waiter brought out a handful of potato chips that were accompanied by a French onion dip and caviar. It was an upscale take on a classic chip and dip but with a little extra flair. I eagerly scooped up a chip with the dip, anticipating the taste of caviar. Unfortunately, the flavor was lost amidst the other ingredients. Still, the chips were complimentary, so I couldn't complain!
Next up were the appetizers, and I couldn't resist trying the beef tenderloin steak tartare with sourdough bread. It was a perfect blend of flavors that melted in my mouth. The French onion soup was equally impressive, creamy, tangy, and cheesy. I could feel my taste buds doing a happy dance with every spoonful.
For the main course, I ordered the Maple & Ash Surf & Turf, which came with a 6 oz filet mignon and half a lobster. The filet was cooked to a perfect medium-rare, but it wasn't quite as good as my homemade steaks. The highlight of the night was the lobster mac and cheese. Initially, we ordered it without lobster, but our waiter suggested adding some. It was only later that we found out that the few pieces of lobster added a $30 charge! Regardless, it was the best mac and cheese we had ever tasted.
The service was professional, with the waitstaff treating us like royalty. They were attentive and informative, making the experience all the more enjoyable. The ambiance of the restaurant was loud and bustling, with a dressy atmosphere that made us feel like we were at a fancy gala.
It may be pricey, but the experience is well worth it for special occasions. I can't wait to come back and indulge in that lobster mac and cheese again.
Last week I had my parents in town and wanted to show them my favorite restaurant in the city: Maple & Ash. We had Dario and Mark taking care of our table and my parents were more than impressed with both the service and the food.
Each dish was executed perfectly, from the flavorful seafood tower, to the rich waygu carpaccio and the perfectly cooked tomahawk steak.
Although it was my parents first time here, we were treated like we were daily regulars
We can’t wait to be back soon!
From the moment we stepped into the door we were welcomed by every staff member that we passed. If you booked for the dining room you are directed to walk to the elevator and take it to the next floor up. We went at 9:45pm on a weekend so the bar that was in the dining room was packed with people in front of it. The dining room was loud and had barely any lighting. All the tables had candlesticks lighting them up. It was a beautiful atmosphere. We were immediately greeted by our waiter. We were celebrating a birthday so our server had brought a custom menu with my name on it wishing me a happy birthday along with a free cocktail for the table to enjoy. Our server was very attentive and we didn't have to wait long to order drinks or our food. A bowl of creme fraiche with caviar on top and potato chips was served to the table while we waited for our food (which was really fast!). Everything tasted amazing, especially the filet mignon. It was seared perfectly and served already cut up for us. Once a plate was finished it was immediately removed out of our way to reduce the amount of clutter on the table. We ordered the chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert and it tasted amazing! Overall the experience was beautiful and enjoyable and I would love to come here again at the next chance I get.
My wife gave it a top five food experience in her life. American Wagyu strip steak was flavorful and tender. Wine list was extensive with options in most price ranges. Seafood tower was good, probably the weakest part to us. Presentation of the butter for the steak was wonderful. We enjoyed the steak tartare. The wait staff was on point and our service impeccable.
This spot is outrageously amazing! Everything from start to finish is an experience. Aesthetically there is a romantic, but small club vibe. Music playing, & candles lit on every table all. A++++ for the ambiance.
Our waitress, Casey, was energetic, sweet and very attentive! We loved her! She greeted me with a complimentary caviar onion dip, and a cocktail for my birthday. And to top it off, a funny custom made menu. Nice twist! I brought it back home with me.
This place is pricey, so come prepared to drop a little something, something. However it’s not just a spot to eat- it’s an experience!
Let’s talk about the food!
Filet (16oz) bone in- B- it was dry, and the steak was cooked well done to medium rare. Not a very good jobs It didn’t taste horrible, we asked for butter and it completely helped it out. The outside portion of the steak was too charcoal and I think that’s what made it dry.
Bone-In Rib Eye (22oz)- A+++ amazing, juicy, cooked to perfection & flavorful.
Mac & Cheese is crazy good!!!
Fries- On Point!
A La seafood tower- SOOOOOO GOOD
Dessert- I can’t remember, but i think it was a chocolate cake , almond crust, with ice cream. DELICIOUS!
Truly remarkable. I was traveling to Chicago solo for business and took up a two top as a single patron and was still treated with great attention and respect by my server (this was prime time on a Saturday night so I greatly appreciate the treatment despite the fact they would see a smaller bill on the turn). As others have noted the accoutrements really make the meal extra special, but everything I had was one of the better things I have ever had the pleasure to eat. Special shout out to the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio which would have been worth the trip by itself. Worth every penny, and whenever I have the chance to make it back to Chicago I will surely be back.
Edit: Also wanted to mention that I arrived to town later than expected and despite hustling to make my reservation, therefore not being dressed my sharpest and being a bit disheveled, I was still treated as finely as the more gilded crowd and truly appreciated the consideration
Elegant steakhouse experience with some hits and misses.
While shopping around the area, my friend and I saw their nice patio area and decided to give them a try. During our Sunday afternoon visit, we were pleasantly surprised to find that walk-ins were accommodated, so we easily grabbed a table without a wait.
We kicked off our meal with Bay Scallop Rockefeller - scallops smothered in creamed spinach, Parmesan, and Pernod. However, we were disappointed to find the scallops noticeably small, overshadowed by the rich sauce. Given the price point, the portion size felt lacking, and it seemed as though the sauce was compensating for the lack of substance in the scallops.
Next up was the Salmon Miso Roll. This sushi roll, ironically, turned out to be the highlight of our meal at the steakhouse. At its core, it featured the classic pairing of salmon and avocado, with a drizzle of eel sauce. What made this roll exceptional, however, were the crispy strands of burdock and the umami notes of the miso. The crunch and the smokiness added dimensions that truly elevated the dish.
For our main course, we opted for the Filet Mignon. While the presentation was elegant, the steak itself was a disappointment. The cut was thinner than we expected, and worse yet, it was overcooked to a medium-well despite asking for a medium-rare, robbing it of its natural juiciness. The edges were tough, leaving us questioning the value.
Overall, Maple & Ash offers a beautiful setting with some noteworthy dishes. However, beware that some of the steaks and high-ticket items may not fully live up to expectations.
The restaurant space when you walk in isn’t the whole place! There is a huge dark and cozy dining room on the third floor. The elevator wasn’t working but the staff was super nice and offered a mid way cocktail on our way up the stairs which was very tasty. Food and wait staff were all around amazing. I’d never seen some of the menu items (ex: fire roasted seafood tower). Dessert portions were huge so order and share!
