We had a lovely time at Pasteur. The seating was comfortable and the food was delicious. Everyone shared some excellent appetizers, including the coconut shrimp which was my favorite! Their duck curry was great and I devoured my fried rice. It's a really nice spot and they took our party of 7 quickly even though we were a little early to our reservation.
This place is beautiful and the food is outstanding. Lisa was our server and was very sweet and accommodating. Started off with Spring Rolls that did not disappoint along with the the Vietnamese Crepe with Shrimp, so yummy. We all enjoyed our meals, my Chicken Curry was delicious and so was the Ginger Chicken and the Pho with Chicken. For dessert we had Banana Bread Pudding with Carmel Sauce and there really are no words to describe how scrumptious it was. My birthday dinner was amazing. Wine selection is a bit limited but you will enjoy every last morsel of the food. I plan on going back soon.
Don't believe the haters: Simply Pasteur is a gem.
We started with fried dumplings and papaya/mango salad and had the "shaking beef" (filet mignon), Saigon crepe, and cochinchin noodles as entrees. The beef is melt in your mouth savory, the crepe a joy of taste and texture wrapped in a lettuce leaf, and the noodles had the taste of homeade succulentness. All were excellent and I kept bouncing up and down with happiness in my seat with each bite!
Simply Pasteur been in business for nearly 40 years: that should say enough right there. It's a small place so it's likely to take some time for service if they're busy. I recommend chilling out and enjoying a fine meal in a leisurely manner. There are plenty of faster (and less high quality) places just down the street at Argyle if you're in a hurry.
This place is perfect for a date night. Every item on the menu was spot on authentic using the freshest ingredients. Wait staff were very solicitous, courteous and congenial.
Wonderful food, atmosphere, and service. I had Pho and it was on point, not too salty not too fragrant, it was delicious. The duck on a red curry sauce was amazing. You gotta try Vietnamese coffee and their banana pudding Mmm.
Price is appropriate, service is great.
Clean, spacious, and very tastefully decorated. I liked the background music and patio atmosphere.
I am very interested in the history of the restaurant and background of the chef.
I am seriously dreaming about going back. We went a few nights ago and had an excellent meal. I had the duck curry and Vietnamese spring rolls. My mom loved the clay pot catfish. The outdoor patio is gorgeous and so is the dining room. Great place to wash away all your stress. You will feel like you are on a very nice vacation.
Really delicious! I visited Vietnam last year and got hooked on the amazing pho and other food there; Simply It brings back great memories with its deliciousness.
The food tastes fresh and delicious. I love the value of the sandwiches (4$). The duck sandwich was great but the beef was a bit salty. Their soups in general are delicious and taste like vege broth and pepper (not just salty). Unfortunately the dining environment is mediocre since they don't turn on AC during hot summer days.
This was the cutest spot! Vietnamese cuisine in the most delightful, bright atmosphere. Outdoor seating area is large and white table cloths present inside and out for a cohesive decor. Had the fried chicken dumplings, the shrimp spring rolls, and the filet mignon on a bed of greens with white rice. Do not sleep on the Pear Ginger martini! Of all the positives here, I have to mention the service and staff were incredible! They genuinely care about your experience, are happy to make suggestions or accomodate allergies. I will definitely be back and will recommend to everyone!
I came here on sunday night it was not too busy .Finally after all the staying home in Chicago i can sit down nicely and enjoy my food .The food was really good . Chicken soup is a must have in the winter but the caramel banana pudding is my absolutely favorite! You have to try this
Great atmosphere...the most tastiest food ive ever had, wonderful owner and staff. We were greeted with some yummy ginger tea while we waited for a table. Love this place!l
A MUST VISIT! For Bahn Mi and amazing Pho..
Authentic cuisine and charming staff
The only thing better than the food is the service. The extensive menu has something for every palette, and the prices are far too low for the portions and amazing ingredients!
Was there for Mother's day. Had the seafood birds nest dish.it was really good. Loved the crunchy noodles and the sauce. For dessert had the matcha affogato which was also good.
The service here is always friendly and fast. Explained dishes to the older generation. Very comfortable atmosphere.
One of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood.
Seating quick. Ordering quick. Service fast. Copious amounts of cilantro, basil, bean sprouts and lime for the Pho soup along with sauces on the side for the soup. Not to mention fresh sliced jalapeno.
The complementary tea was tasty. Tastes like a mild black tea with ginger added as a kick. It's probably good for the soul. And like all good restaurants, a cold glass of filtered ice water is also complimentary.
As far as taste. It was good, but! There's a but. It had a taste of sugar that I'm not accustomed to. The flavor is there but not too overwhelming. And needed a little more 5 spice or star anise or whatever gives it that extra kick. Asked not to put tripe in soup. Don't know if they do but rather safe than sorry. But, I will be back from time to time as it's ranks high overall. The portion was humongous. Think it was a quart bowl filled to the top.
All menu items reasonably priced. Just expect to pay $2 per hour for parking. $9.95 for Pho soup plus tax, totaling $11.09. A tip and your looking at $15 for lunch plus parking. Not bad!😋
