I can't stop thinking about their food. The flavors, the spiciness, the delicious clear, non-gummy sauce of the sizzling pot. And the Wuhan hot dry noodles are amazing both hot or cold. There's a freshness and vibrancy to the dishes that I love.
We ordered the garlic flavor, spice level very spicy. It's been so hard for me to get real heat in Chinese food, but this place does it. That level won't burn your face off (if you truly like spicy food) but it did build up fast in the back of my throat.
There's so much more on the menu that we haven't tried, if everything is as good as the sizzling pot and the noodles, this will be our favorite place.
I loved this place! We definitely expected the food to be more standard Americanized Chinese food, but once we stepped inside our server G was incredibly helpful explaining the food at the restaurant. We ordered a garlic chicken pot with noodles and we're immediately in love with how delicious everything was. We didn't expect to eat everything but we couldn't stop even when our faces were red from the spice. 5/5!
Not your typical Americanized Chinese food, pleasantly surprised with both the quality of the food and the quality of the service. Came here on a coworker’s recommendation for lunch, fast service and great food! Plus the waiter honored the 12% discount for subtotals over $30.
Stopped in to see what the new restaurant in and he neighborhood had to offer. We enjoyed a delicious shrimp pot with fried tofu and myriad vegetables - great flavors coming from the sizzling pot and the veggies absorbed all the best of the sauce while maintaining a nice crunch. Great new addition to the neighborhood and glad we finally stopped in to check out some new flavors.
The dry hot pot (griddle) is really authentic! The green bean soup is good as well~ Server G did a really good job explaining the menu for a first timer.
We really expected a standard Chinese restaurant. I didn’t quite read that it was a hot pot Chinese restaurant. It is delicious! You are not quite sure how tasty it is going to be. I recommend it if you like Hunan style food.
Solid Hunanese hot pot. Tons of food for the money, highly recommended.
Awesome food, super authentic, great staff
Very good - most authentic Chinese food in Chicago!
Great food. Great service.
Very delicious and authentic northern style Chinese cuisine. I would come back to try more dishes. Just a warning... Medium spicy is quite spicy. I thought it was perfect for me but my friends wished they went for mild for the dry sizzling hot pot sauce.
While on a business trip, visited a friend and took them here cause I liked the one back home. The food was good, portion size was good. Although in my opinion I think the one in San Francisco makes it spicier. Overall the consistency between restaurant is pretty good.
The most authentic spicy Chinese food in Chicago! Seriously! I was really thrilled when I saw the menu and it made me feel like I was in China again. The spice is super on point and other than the spicy hot pot, other dishes are pretty good too. I’m so glad I found this place. Will definitely bring more friends here in the future.
Great value. Serving size was big. For the sizzling pot, a medium size is more than enough for two of us. Leftover was taken for another meal. Taste is good and authentic. They also offer Hunan style food and they seem good too. I will try them next time.
Get their beef tongue pot or bull frog pot if you can. Those are among the most popular items ordered. I will recommend this establishment.
Ok so this was my third or fourth time to visit here ever since I was introduced to this place by my Taiwanese friends. The food here is amazing and I just love their hot pot preparations and some other dishes like the ‘crouching tiger chillies’ and ‘eggplant and aged eggs’ and a few other. If you like spicy food and are open to try new cuisines - this is a must visit for you!
Not a fancy ambiance and they don’t serve alcohol.
We got a 6 pack of chinese beer from the H mart just across the street because they allow outside drinks. Sizzling pot King is My personal favorite place in chicago.
Delicious stir fry bowls with a variety of meats, seafood, tofus and veggies.
Go for the spicy & hot sauce as it includes the numbing spice.
The pumpkin cakes are a specialty and a nice cooling touch before and after the spicy food.
Authentic Chinese food in west loop! Great flavor and generous portion. Will return to try more items next time.
Great staff. The hot dry noodles are a must try. BYOB too!
Taste very good. Traditional real chinese pot. Recommend to everyone, good service, very clean.
Very authentic Chinese food! The best spicy hot pot in town!
First time trying dry hot pot and it was awesome! Service was attentive and friendly. Both servers helped us out when picking spice level and ingredients for our pot. We also tried the dry noodles and they were great! 2 of us ordered the medium pot and we had a ton of left overs!
This is different my favorite Taiwanese hot pot place in Chicago. They have so many different flavors and combinations. My all time favorite is definitely their spicy Taiwanese pot.
They have really good snack too, and their lamb skewers are very delicious and definitely a must to get! But their snacks are kind of over priced comparing with their skewer places in Chinatown.
I also got their champagne milk tea however it wasn't really my favorite milk team at all times. Their other drinks can be a little too sweet for my taste!
Excellent staffs, always friendly and welcoming. Love this place and this is our new go to from now
A gem of a place. Delicious authentic flavors. We had the medium sized medium spicy hot pot with beef tongue. Added black fungi as extra. Accompanied with steamed rice. It was plenty for 2 people with left overs. If you are not fond of the mouth numbing flavor of Schezwan peppers let them know. We're going to be going back there often to try the other Hunan dishes. Excellent food and very attentive and pleasant service.
The food was top notch. We got the bullfrog with mild spice and garlic sauce (spice level is not for the faint of heart). Ji was our waiter and walked us through the options; he was great. Highly recommended for a different Chinese food experience.
Everything was tasty, once it all arrived. We were seated at a booth, and the server not only adjusted the table but moved the booth seat as well to make for a more comfortable seating spot for us all.
Sterno under the sizzling pot was getting wildly out of control - a lid to slide over it would be a great addition, as we had to call for a server to come and extinguish it (with a plate, but one must remove sizzling pot from stand first).
We ordered garlic flavor and mild spice level, and at least six chili peppers as well as jalapeño slices were in the pot (making it much too spicy for our daughter), although really tasty. If you normally want mild spice, you may want to ask for no spice here. [Having said this, it is terrific that the staff at Sizzling Pot don't make the kind of judgments that I have experienced at many restaurants that change their level of spice with the assumption that someone from a different cultural background can't handle the spice palette of their food.]
It was a delicious dinner. I didn't try the pot stickers, but my family raved that they were worth the wait for them.
