I’m in love with this bakery, and the owner. I don’t have to eat gluten free, but many of my friends do, and the baked goods are so darn good that I actually go there on my own without my GF friends. The staff = SO nice and helpful! The baked goods will knock your socks off! I can’t get enough. I’ve special ordered bday cakes and wedding cakes. If you’re GF or just love mouth-watering amazingness, go here.

I am hypothyroid so my body just doesnt have any metabolism my Doctor had me go Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Sugar Free over 2 years ago. I cheat on occasion with sugar and I couldn't be more happy this is my new cheat place. I came in Sunday they were all so warm to me, gave me samples of this amazing strawberry cake and when I asked for a small box to start they threw in another bar so I could try it. Lets just say the cream puff didn't make it to Foster Ave... I can't wait to come back. My new go to for a cheat day Thank you I love this place

I remember ordering my brother's cake from this wonderful place. I let them have a choice on the wording on the cake depending on spacing "Dorthy in the streets, Blanche in the sheets" OR "Happy Birthday Marty". Whichever would be easiest. Well apparently on the day I picked up the cake, the bakers had a pool going because they couldn't make heads or tails of the first choice. One was guessing Dorthy was an OZ ref and Blanche was from a Streetcar Named Desire and one was betting on golden girls, few had other obscure bets. To the one who set coin on the Golden Girls, congrats to you ;). My brother Claim's to be Dorthy from Golden Girls, while I countered considering his life-style (wink wink) that He's definitely a Blanche. His main retort to this was that I'd be a Rose, which is fine. I'd rather be 100 Lovable Roses than 1 floozy of a Blanche. And apparently this has made me a staple of the place for some time. Really need to stop by again and see what goodies await. Never a poor choice to be had among any of the treats made with love, and since they're gluten free that means I can have like, 8!

The lemon bars, the lemon-blueberry loaf, and the pecan bars are my favorite. And the store front is smack dab in the middle of Andersonville. Defloured is a perfect stop while roaming the neighborhood. <3

I ordered some treats from Defloured to celebrate the one year anniversary of my business. They were delicious, and the staff here is absolutely fantastic! All of our gluten-free friends and clients were delighted when I told them they could eat all of the things, and our wheat-eating folks were equally impressed by the fact that Defloured's treats are almost completely indistinguishable from wheat-based treats. Defloured is pretty much the best, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to everyone.

Died & went to heaven walking into this gluten-free haven! There is nothing like this in Chicago proper! As someone with Celiac disease, I cannot thank this bakery enough for what they do! I'm now their biggest fan!

The carrot cake is amazing! So happy I am able to purchase it at the Whole Foods Market. Now a trip to your actual bakery is on my must do list!

I popped in the day before V-Day to get my hubby a birthday cake. They were closed, but in the shop prepping for the next day. They opened the door and let me spend away!!! Thank you so much - the cake was delicious.

Incredible baked goods. If you are a carrot cake lover, they probably makes one of the best in Chicago. Perfect spice and great icing!!!!! All the bars and the cookies were equally good. I had bought for the weekend, didn't even make it to the evening. We ate it all!!!!

During a trip to Chicago, my friend who has celiac disease added Defloured to our itinerary. When we arrived at the bakery the clerk went through a detailed explanation of all of the goods on display. She was very patient as my friend bought several items to bring home with us. I even bought a few things myself despite not having a gluten allergy. So far we have tried the vanilla cupcake, chocolate chocolate cake pop and Nutella stuffed cookie, and all three were to die for! I definitely plan on visiting next time I'm in the city.

Ordered a custom 9" two-layered birthday cake for my partner, and the bakery had it ready in 2 days. The cake was perfectly moist and sweet (but not too rich) and was our family's favorite birthday cake of all time. Could not have asked for more. They even included the expletive in the birthday message I requested. <3

Even my brother (who has no need to eat gluten free) agrees, this is the BEST carrot cake ever! This is not "good for gluten free. It's great for any bakery!

My wife and I ordered a gluten-free vegan wedding cake last summer. We have both been gluten-free from a while before ordering this cake for our wedding. I'm also, personally, not much onto desserts and such. However, I have to say that the cake we received was the absolute best gf cake either of us have ever had. I highly recommend this place if you have food sensitivities or other dietary restrictions. It was outstanding!

All of the treats were tasty and health conscious. They have jumped up to the top of my favorite bakeries since going gluten free earlier this year. Their items are better than most other bakeries’ selections. Highly highly recommended. Encourage you to get their early when they open for you to pick from a larger choice of sweets and items.

My partner loves the food, but I'll keep my comments on the shopping process so others can plan their visit. All the baked goods are arranged in the windows. Most offerings have placards with allergy warnings since they know their customers have a variety of reasons for seeking out gluten-free goods. Wave at them and someone will come out. I went there at about noon on a Thursday, and I took a long while to decide, but others came and left within 5 minutes. There seemed to be 3-4 people who took orders, but maybe there's more at busier times. It wasn't super busy when I was there. Everyone I saw was wearing a K95 mask except one person who was wearing a cloth mask. And since no customers are allowed in the shop and all orders were taken outside the shop, I felt very safe and was glad the workers were relatively safe. If I'd realized this was how they were doing things throughout the pandemic, I would have come back sooner! The only critique I have is that there were no prices posted on the paper sign or the placards. You can ask for prices, but the person I spoke to said they'd have to go get the price list inside. I said that wasn't necessary, but I do feel like they should be more transparent about it by posting a list outside. When they took my order, they wrote the order on paper then came out with the food and a card reader. I don't remember if they told me the total before I paid, but I kind of think they didn't. I used a card, but I did witness someone use a phone to pay). They asked if I wanted a receipt, and I said yes. Then they confirmed the email they had in their system (I don't know how they got my email though, but it must be something with whatever broader system they use), and I received the email receipt right away. The receipt had the individual pricing and total. I got 6 things and paid $26.63 with tax. The lemon ricotta cookie was $2.50, and everything else (a selection of bars and other individual items) were a range between $3.99 and $5.25.

This place is amazing... My partner has a severe gluten allergy and she normally doesn't get to enjoy donuts or other pastries/baked goods so I melt a little inside when I see how much she enjoys things from Defloured. As for me, I wouldn't even know it's gluten free if I didn't read it... Just as good as any gluten-having baked goods, maybe better...

Best gluten free bakery I’ve ever visited! If they weren’t 4 hours away from me I’d be a regular. Take a few minutes to stop by if you’re ever in the area!

First time being there and the customer service is amazing! I called to reserve a cake first thing in the morning and everyone I spoke to was so understanding and accommodating. I got their oatmeal cookie sandwich, lemon tarts and lemon cookies and they're sooo good! Everyone enjoyed these delicious pastries. I will definitely be coming back and recommend this place!

I wish I had heard about defloured earlier, because when I tried to order my wedding cake here, they weren't able to accommodate the number of guests in my wedding. (Totally on me for ordering too late!) However, they were able to make a small cake for my vegan and gluten-free guests (including myself). We ordered the vegan chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream, and it was delicious. I don't like overly sweet cakes, and neither does my family. This cake was flavorful and it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet like many cakes are. defloured also neatly decorated with horizontal piping to match our other wedding cake. I highly recommend for weddings!

A bakery which inspires fun and creativity! Visiting this place is a very joyful experience and is in one of my favorite areas of Andersonville. The pecan pie is out of this world. They were about to close but stayed open so we could grab some delicious desserts for our academy award party!
