Headed here after my niece’s birthday party. There were so many options to choose from, but I settled on the brisket plate with mac & Cheese and sautéed okra. My Dad ordered the ribs, which I of course swiped one. I couldn’t pass up the peach cobbler. We got it to go and the staff was so friendly, that we sat an talked a while until the food was ready.
Pit to Plate BBQ's juicy beef brisket and pulled pork have outstanding smoke flavor, with a full complement of great BBQ sauces and a wide selection of tasty sides.
Best BBQ I've had in ages. Stopped in for lunch after golf and we all loved it. My beef brisket was perfect and not fatty at all. Mac and cheese was excellent too. The others had pulled pork and enjoyed it. Good choices of sauces. Everything was so flavorful it really didn't need much sauce. Will be back!
Wonderful. I wrote this review elsewhere, but I think it deserves to be posted here as well.
After reading some of these reviews, I guess I've been lucky? EVERY time I've eaten here, I've loved it. The food is the best bbq I've had in Cincinnati. A few of the other reviews mentioned dry meat? I've run into that at quite a few other bbq places, but never here. The chicken and chili here is perfect, and I have only praise for the pork and brisket as well. The owner really cares about her customers, so it's hard for me to think that if she was around she'd give bad service. I just had her cater my wedding and I got no less than a dozen compliments on the food. Dianne served the entire night herself, which blew me away, then packed up tons of food for my wife and I to take home. What more could you ask for? All I can say is give it a try.
GOOD Q. I have traveled the world. I have dined at restaurants in Russia and Q is widely served all over the planet. I would say Pit to Plate is in the top three tasty Q joints in the world. This gal Di knows her meat and she knows her wood. Together, she makes some of the most delicious BBQ I have tasted. And to others, stop complaining about stupid stuff like my bun is white or my bun is soggy. Q is best with a cheap store bought white bun and if ya don't like your bun soggy, order your Q on the side and build your sandwich table side. On a scale of 1 to 10, Pit to Plate is an 8.5
Wow!!! Try the turkey and pulled pork sandwich on Texas toast!!! Amazing!!!!! The owner was supper nice and pretty cute too! She took my order and made sure I was taken care of. The live music was a nice touch but the beer selection topped it all! Most places have garbage beer but she had a wide selection, I think I have a new crush. Thanks Diane, you rocked my appetite!!!!
Good Food, great value!. Pit to Plate on Hamilton Ave. in Mt. Healthy is a great place to go if you're looking for good food with reasonable prices. I really enjoy the homey, warm, western theme/decor. I've been to upscale BBQ places standing in line for an hour and a half then paying an arm and a leg for my meal and I can say that PTP matches the quality and taste! The pulled chicken is amazingly delicious!
On the weekends, they offer live music with a nice mix of blues among other genres.....and there's no cost if you're dining in! They offer drinks, cocktails and beer.......all at a very reasonable price. I give it two thumbs up!!!!!!!!!
Pit to plate is the best BBQ ever!!!! It's not grease on the pork or the beef it sits in it's own juice to give it flavor people !!! Called au jus !!!! Get with it !!!!
Good BBQ is a combo of wood smoked meat and sauces. PTP has both. Add good prices and lunch specials and it's for real!
Good stuff! Try the BBQ sundae... A little of everything, everything good!!
Best bbq in cincinnati. Really good pulled pork and beef brisket
A favorite lunchtime location for my work group. Great pulled pork sandwiches. Excellent sauces (6) on the table. Chips in a bag, but no fries. Fun décor.
Mt. Healthy or Smokey Mountains?. This is one review I feel good about writing. Why? Because so many reviews are based on visiting a place one, two or on the outside maybe three times. You often have to wonder whether your experience is really representative of the overall restaurant regarding their food and service.
To the feeling good part, I have eaten at Pit to Plate an easy 20 to 25 times. (but who's counting?) I really think I have a big enough "N" upon which to base this review : ) The highest compliment you can give a restaurant is that of consistency of product. To this end, every meal there has been consistently good. The pulled pork is juicy, the ribs have just that right snap, and those chicken wings - come to puppy.
On a serious note, we aren't talking 5 star cuisine here, just basic, honest barbecue that very few places can pull off in a consistent manner. BBQ is both science and art and demands attention to many interdependent variables. Apparently Diane has a PhD in both art and science.
As I have said before, there are only two places I know of in the Cincinnati area that produce "real BBQ" (you know, COOKED with wood). This friends is one of them.
Woof!

...While meat options are abundant, none of her vegetable sides, such as green beans, cabbage, okra, greens and beans and rice are highly seasoned with meat. All of the sauces also are made in-house – all seven of them. They range from tomato-vinegar sauces of various heat levels, to spicy garlic to a mustard-based sauce to a horseradish-based sauce, which Creech recommends for her corned beef.
I really enjoy the meats at Pit To Plate BBQ but I feel that the sides could use some work. With that said, I still like it better than City BBQ, which I'm still a fan of, so Pit To Plate is definitely not to be missed for BBQ in Cincinnati.
Pit To Plate BBQ makes great use of the interior; from the inside, you'd be hard pressed to recognize that a fast food restaurant had ever existed here. The windows had all been partially covered with wood planks on which hung a variety of kitschy artifac
We're now moved in and pretty much settled and have been discovering the take-out of our new 'hood. Why? I haven't figured out how to grocery shop apparently. Ugh - too much stuff to do and not enough time! I drive by Pit to Plate every day on my way to and from work - I have long heard about Pit and got my first taste of them at the Taste of the NFL a few weeks back. So on the way home from work one day - I decided to grab some to-go for Larry and I. Pulled chicken, (sauce on the side - can't see it), corn muffin, green beans, taters & gravy for Larry! For me, pulled pork, cole slaw, baked beans and corn muffins. So how did Pit to Plate fare? Really well - first of all $7.95 each - for all that!!! Yeah - great value for the $$. The cole slaw was creamy and had a little zing to it. The beans - sweet, saucy and a little spicy. The pork was juicy and the sauce is really great. The corn muffins - BEST EVER!! Seriously - I just want a dozen of those corn muffins!! Also - they get HIGH mark
Thomas has the greatest BBQ ribs n assortments set up in his custom smoker just in front of Pit to Plate. You've got to grab some of his food to take home for yourself. You will not regret it.
Great Smokey Flavored🍖🍗 barbecue.
Glad to see "Pit to Plate" open on a Daily Schedule. Its just as tasty 😋 on a Food Truck!!!
Awesome little nugget in the middle of Mt.Healthy. Great sauces, great food, good service for a Saturday night! I devoured the Pulled chicken sandwich with mac, chips, and corn. With an ice cold coke to wash it down. A must visit!
Some of the best southern barbecue and sides anywhere. Friendly staff. Beer list meh. Prices on the high side. Decor needs a refresh with comfort in mind. As of October 7, 2017 the restaurant has closed. They continue to cater and their food truck can still be found around town.
The best brisket I have ever had!! They put all the sauce selections on the table for you so that you may try different ones to decide which one you like the best. The portions are huge. The owner is a sweetheart and makes all the food herself!!! If you want a home cooked meal at a reasonable price, this is the place to be! The server was awesome and treated us like family. The decorations within and outside the restaurant go perfect with the theme. They also have live music several times a week. It is in a convenient location, right on Hamilton Ave. I highly recommend Pit to Plate!!
I had to get our ham smoked again at Pit to Plate after one of my sons mentioned how good it was. I also went away with 3 bottles of some of their sauces and will use for stocking stuffers. Yum! Fantastic customer service. Diane has always been great to work with.
Delicious! Tender flavorful great service did I say how great the food was?? The sauces all made there are full bodied. Even though you really don't need the sauce the meet was seasoned and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend Pit to Plate for lunch or dinner. Check the catering menu too the bring the party to you.
My wife and I have stopped here for several weeks. We both really enjoy the food. They have live music select nights of the week. Every time we've ordered the food comes out quick and hot. They make their own sauces in house, which you can buy to take home. I haven't had everything on the menu yet but everything I have had has been delicious. Highly recommend this place if your craving BBQ. They have a did truck and offer catering options too!
My employer had a company dinner catered yesterday on location,we had the pulled pork, mac and cheese and baked beans.
The pork was very good,I wish I had more sauce to put on it,but, maybe next time...the mac and cheese the macaroni was cooked perfectly,it's the cheese sauce that was a wee bit salty for my taste, but the beans...yum...very good,I would rather have had garlic bread with the meal instead of a hot dog bun, but,I'm happy with what I had.
all in all...it was not too bad,I give it....2 thumbs up...lol
I recently had Pit to Plate Barbeque cater my wedding and they did a fantastic job! The food was delicious and we got many compliments on it. People really liked the food truck idea and the service was great. Thanks for doing such a great job and helping the day go so smoothly.
Customer service is the #1 thing I look for when visiting an establishment. Great customer service gets you an automatic 3 stars from me. The woman who took my to go order was genuinely friendly. Not the fake friendly you get at most places. I placed a to go order then went to my car to wait on it. She brought the food to my car!!! I had the BBQ rib "sammich" 😂😂 (that's what it's listed as on the menu) with medium sauce, Mac n cheese, sweet tea. The tea was amazing. The ribs had a nice smoke flavor and the sauce was perfectly medium. Not to hot and not too mild. The Mac n cheese was ok. Overall I was satisfied. And the prices are very reasonable

All I can say is give it a try.
I enjoyed the flavor of their BBQ especially the pulled pork. You could taste the smoke in the meat which tells me that it was done in a true smoker not an electric smoker. Their sauces are good as well. The atmosphere was what I anticipated from a true BBQ joint. The location is this places only downfall. I would visit more often but it's just too far off the beaten path. I hope they'll consider expanding perhaps to the Mason area. We need a good BBQ joint up North.
Food is great. Prices are pretty high. 13 dollars for just a small amount of meat put on a hotdogs bun (probably would be more on a hamburger bun) and 2 sides. However, it's tasty. Would go more often if the prices were a couole of bucks less.
Absolutely love this place. Haunt been able to find such amazing smoked food anywhere, now that the hours have drastically changed! I miss my pit to plate. Glad to see it open on Wednesday's.
