The best.. I am so happy to have found this place.. my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Cleveland! Such good salsa/chips, margaritas and menu items. Big portions at a fair price and really authentic stuff. I can't wait to go back! It looks so weird from the outside but staff is super friendly and the food is seriously the BEST.
Those Margaritas Creep. Went to Villa Y Zapata yesterday with a group of friends on a whim. Never been before but boy will we be back! Awesome Mexican food, margaritas that creep up on you and stellar service. The atmosphere was relaxed and quiet although our group was loud, luckily it didn't seem as though anyone minded. If your looking for a great authentic Mexican restaurant, this is a must try.
Villa Y Zapata has by FAR the best Chile Rellenos I've ever eaten!! The pablano peppers are tender and are HUGE!! I've tried Chile Rellenos all over the county.. Literally... And hands down, Villa Y Zapata has this dish down to an ART!! Gracias, Villa!!!
Pretty damn good food! Tacos were stuffed to the max, every thing had a unique taste and flavor. Couldn't finish the plate, just too much food.
Simply Amazing. This place is absolutely Amazing!!! Great food & service...the owner Luca is a fantastic person with a wonderful personality... the margaritas are by far the BEST I've ever had!! Fresh chips and homemade salsa!!! The guacamole is made to order...how do I know this you ask??? Well I hear them mashing it up by request! I've been here more than 20 times and I can honestly say I've NEVER been disappointed!! How often can one say this!!! Props to you Luca, you've done a fantastic job at keeping the quality at above standard & making me a very happy customer!!
Not your average Mexican restaurant!! I have not yet found anything on the menu that I don't like. The food is amazing and the service. The margaritas are not watered down or thick tasting syrup. Our server (Luca) is comical and makes us feel like I'm among close friends. Great atmosphere, highly recommended!!!!
A Hidden Gem. It's easy to drive by this place on 85th and Madison. Needs a paint job, and the sign is almost non existent. But inside, la cucaracha, or however you spell it. Wonderful salsa and super good mexican food. Neighborhood is a bit iffy, but I've been a west sider in this neighborhood for 65 years and ain't been beat up yet. Go with friends and enjoy.
Best in Cleveland. I would say the hardest thing to find is really good Mexican food in Cleveland, so when we found this place we were so excited. The food is amazing, full of different flavors that you do not normally find in the other restaurants around town. I suggest the Tinga Poblana.
Best AUTHENTIC Mexican in town. Unlike some of the other newer chain places, Villa Zapata is totally authentic in all aspects minus - perhaps - the decor! While they get props for "keeping it real" with their idea of Hispanic-flavored urban interior design, it appears an upgrade of carpeting and a bit of paint would go a long ways.
Once you get past this, however, the food and service is always wonderful. The Chimichangas are expertly deep-friend and served piping-hot, and their Salsa Mexicana is something you should not miss as an appetizer! Beyond addictive... Also, their house margaritas are delicious - and they deliver quite the kick, so careful if you are driving!
I have had the same server for years now, and she is friendly, kind, and attentive to ones needs. This place is a true Cleveland gem that deserves recognition! It beats MANY other Mexican spots on the West Coast (L.A., Seattle, etc.) I have had the pleasure of dining in. Check it out for yourself!
Best Mexican in Cleveland. Definitely off the beaten path and clearly the best kept secret in Cleveland, this mexican is the real deal! The guacamole is fresh but the chile rellenos are my favorite. Service is great. Love to get together with friends for a few margaritas.
Best Mexican in town. This is the real deal. Everything is fresh and super tasty. Great service too.
Chile Rellenos - omg!. The Chile Rellenos were amazing! I never had one before and I just can't stop craving it! The margaritas and the shredded beef chimichanga were also fantastic!
Great authentic Mexican food!. Long time favorite. No frills here, just great food and good drinks. Great house made salsa. Highly recommended!
Enchilada with veggies and mole was superb. Also, the chicken enchilada with green sauce was excellent. Dessert was fried ice cream which was tasty. Appropriate Spanish music playing in the background added to the atmosphere. We will return.
Best Mole in Cleveland. You can taste that it was fresh and made right. My gf searched high and low for months to find an authentic Mexican restaurant with mole and this is the real deal. Support your local businesses. We’re making this our regular place and you should too!
Don’t lean too much into the bad reviews, they also review McDonald’s and Taco Bell…
I did not dine here, however I did arrange for my client to dine here as a thank you for their business .. staff was very helpful and called me as I requested so I could pay the bill. My clients had a fabulous experience and so grateful for staff assisting me with the arrangements 💜☺️👍
Great local Mexican spot.
Frankly having grown up in the Southwest most midwestern Mexican disappoints at best, Villa is not the same.
They offer a good selection of well made, quality food and free chips and salsa.
I’d certainly recommend giving them a try!
I love Villa y Zapata Mexican Restaurant the food is delicious 😋 and authentic good portions and the price you can't beat. Their Margaritas are simply delicious! The staff are awesome. I would come again and again. Thank you so much. Genny Lopez
Seriously, if someone wanted to find me, they'd have pretty dang good odds starting here. Weekly regulars, I've literally been coming here my whole life. Even when I was in college, whenever I'd visit home this was a must stop. The Verde sauce is great, the enchiladas are super awesome and have authentic sauces, honestly I could eat the taquitos every day. My favorite entres are the guisado de peurco, (that yummy verde!!) and the tinga poblana, which is a chipotle pepper seasoned dish with tons of filling ingredients. Easily make 2 meals of it. Don't be turned off by the neighborhood, the place has its own fenced lot. Just look for the Mexican flag building and do yourself a solid the next time you want good Mexican.
Some of the best Mexican food in the city, the whole menu is awesome! Try the mole, it's one of the best on the city!
Had a successful lunchtime meeting at this restaurant. Server was nice and efficient, food was delicious, and a new deal was made.
Villa y Zapata is the first restaurant I remember going to when I was 2. That was 41 years ago. The food still has the perfect balance of heat and flavor and is served fast by a courteous staff. I only stop in once a year or so as it isn't super local but it is always a good meal at an acceptable price.
Excellent, authentic food! It's savory and rich, best kept secret in Cleveland. The guacamole is so creamy it spreads like butter.
So pleased with this place! We kind of just fell into it on Cinco De Mayo (because Blue Habenero screwed me over, don’t ever go there, I’m so annoyed with them) but at this place we sat down within 5 minutes! They were very friendly. The food service was a little slow because they were slammed, but the chips and margaritas were plentiful so the wait was no problem. And the food was hot and wonderful! We’ll definitely be back here.
1st time ever stopping here. I've passed here a million times but never stopped. I'm glad I did! The margherita could've used some more tequila but the food was amazing! I got the signature pepper dish and it was mouthwatering!! Will definitely stop here again!
Have not been here in atleast 20 years, happy to be back. Great food....still and ohhhh the margaritas!!!
Villa Y Zapata is a favorite in my family for birthdays and large extended family dinners. Service is always excellent, the food is delicious and filling and very well priced. Margaritas are miles better than Barrio or Condado. Family from out west have complimented the Chili Rellenos.
The decor is uninspired. Service is good. Menu is a good representation of authentic Mexican food. The Consume De Pollo soup is as good as the bowl I had in Merida and Oaxaca. Fresh, simple, flavorful... Delicious. My entre was a cheese and onion enchilada with extra mole sauce. I haven't had a mole sauce this good since Oaxaca! Very reasonably priced.
This place has some of the best Mexican food around. Authentic atmosphere, great service , and refined Mexican food with all the flavors and the most delicious sauces and unique ingredients. I try something new every time and nothing disappoints!
