Holy cow!!!! This was phenomenal. Had Sea Food Fondue for the appetizer.. Wife had Free Range Chicken and Jalapeño Wafles. I had the Vegetarian Plater and the 8 once Filet ( I know...but I need to eat more veggies).
The service and atmosphere is great and the prices are reasonable.
This is one we will be coming back to on a regular basis.
I wanted steak for dinner, so my boyfriend called a few places and this was the only place with no wait, that is how we ended up here.
It's a Friday night about 8pm and they were not busy at all, we were 1 of 3 couples that were there. The dining room is very small, maybe 10 tables. There is a fire place in the corner and lighting is a little low so it's more of an intimate setting. Each table is covered in a table cloth with a candle on top.
Service was slow. We weren't given a drink menu when we were seated and a list of non-alcoholic drinks are not listed anywhere. It took at least 10min for a waitress to even come over with a drink menu. (remember theres only 2 other tables and both of those are being tended by another waitress). The first 4 bourbon shots my boyfriend ordered they didn't have and when she finally did bring his drink-it was the wrong one.
I ordered the kc strip and it was juicy and it had amazing flavor, but not very tender. The side on all meals is the veggie of the day or you can upgrade to a different side....even cost more for fries. My boyfriend ordered the salmon and upgraded his side to macaroni with lobster. He did not like the macaroni at all and there was maybe 3 small pieces of lobster in it.
All in all it was a good meal, we will go back at some point because it was a good experience.
We enjoyed ourselves. Quiet. Too quiet. We were there on a Friday night at 7 pm and it was us and two other tables. No one else came in by the time we left. The food was good. The calamari was decent. I had the filet. Oh ya that was pretty amazing. The rest was good. It looks like the Grand Cru was Grander at an earlier time. It kind feels like there was a captain who ran a tight ship, but they are no longer at the helm. Little things like an invite to join them for there New Year’s Eve party from 6 months ago. It wouldn’t be that bad but it’s right on the front desk so it’s the first thing you see when you come in. Will we go back again. I think so. There menu had a rainbow of choices with some fresh ideas.
Grand Cru is a comforting mix of fine dining and home cooking. I thoroughly enjoyed my trout with butter dill sauce and the garlic masher was delicious. Wine list is mostly California. The ambience is more fine dining, but I appreciated the Mizzou touches.
Nice place. Food was good and the wait staff was nice and just the right amount of attentive. Prices were too high for me but I’m a social worker…
The seafood fondue was amazing! Our steaks were too. It was our first time there but won't be our last!
