First time at the Clintonville spot... y'all knocked it out of the park! I've been to the North Market joint many times and always seemed to have an issue with consistency - of doneness, of heat levels, of flavor - but today's meal was probably the best I have had from any of the locations. Got a dark meal (warm) and an order of wings (hot). Everything was cooked wonderfully, tender and juicy with perfect crispy skin. Spice levels were appropriate, distinctly different, very flavorful and exactly what I expected. Keep doing what you're doing, I'll be back!
The food is great. The mac and cheese was out of this world and the coleslaw was above average. The chicken was very flavorful but the hot didn’t even rate. It was very flavorful but as a middle Tennesseean from just outside of Nashville it’s not hot chicken. I’ll eat there again and give the extra hot a go but I’m skeptical.
If you want to try the the hottest level, they give you a free drum and a slice of bread. Was great, boneless sandwich and 2 sides of Mac is enough for 2 people to share, or one hungry person. Free ice tea is a great bonus. I ended up with the hot and it was Great !!!!!
I pass this place for work all the time. I knew it was locally owned and have been wanting to try it. So me and my wife drove from Grove City Saturday night. Staff was very friendly, not much of a wait, good atmosphere. And the chicken might be the best I’ve had. We will definitely be back. Good luck with your business. You are doing it right.
Whole family loved it. Really good mac and slaw , hot sause had perfect heat and flavor.

I didnt prepare for the nap I had to take after eatting here. The sandwich meal was so good. Greg the guy taking the order was super nice. Chill environment. Awesome chicken���
First time here and WOW!! I already can't wait to go back! Excellent food, fantastic service and a great laid back atmosphere! Thank you to my cashier for telling me about the light warm option! It was the perfect amount of spice for me, and OMG That ranch dressing is AMAZING!!
Service was prompt and well done as was the food. we ordered the 5 piece wing dinner with Cole Slaw and Mac & Cheese & the waffle. It was excellent. Very filling. We both went with the "cold" chicken which is the lightest amount of spice and it was just right. They say their medium is hotter than most as is their hot. We had a good time dining in also making new friends.
Best part of HCT was the general manager. First time there & I didn’t even want chicken, my partner did. After he orders the manager tries to persuade myself & another co-worker to try something. We politely decline & have a seat to wait. While we wait he personally surprises us with complimentary chicken & mac to try. When I tell y’all my thoughts of having pasta instead completely went out the window!! GONE!! We ordered two meals for ourselves & torn that food up!! Next time I have to try the “Holy ****” flavor. If it wasn’t for the manager being so personable, I’d probably been dissatisfied with some dry pasta from elsewhere. Bring HCT to Baltimore plzzzzz!!

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat. This chicken is so good! The seasoning is phenomenal and the sauce levels are no joke. I’m usually a hot wing person but the warm definitely has a kick. I haven’t gotten the nerve to try hot yet but I will! That Mac and Cheese though...mmm mmm good. Just like home! And sweet tea and the tastiest ranch! This place is amazing!
This was the best chicken I've had in a fast food restaurant. The HOT level sauce on the chicken was on point. I had the big tender sandwich and big they were. The tenders were very juicy, the pickled onions were delicious and the waffle fries were finger licking good.
I tried the fries for the first time and I was disappointed. I don't know if I got a bad batch but they were soggy. Also the fact that you can't get as much ranch as you want is sad. The free ranch and tea was such a fun perk of the restaurant. I will be back to visit because I love the spice but not as frequently as I used to.
*edit: I ended up getting a refund for the fries so props to the customer service.
I’ve since visited again and one problem is the food quality has gone down hill. It might be from new employees after new owners took over.
I like spice so I usually get holy or extra holy and the chicken is always swimming in oil and the skin is fried too hard. I think they try to make it more spicy by adding more oil but at some point too much oil is nasty. The fries were very good this time though, keep that up. Overall 3.75/5 stars.
I’ve been here a couple different time in the last year and every time I come there is always one bright spot and that’s Kevin Fisher. His attitude and professionalism is spot on. He just gets it done. If you’re ever in there and you want to have a great time ask for Kevin I promise you won’t be disappointed
I got the Ma’s Mac and the nuggets. Both were amazing! You can tell the mac n cheese was made with real cheese and the spice on the chicken was perfect! The staff was also amazing and super respectful. The only complaint that I had was that they didn’t have bleu cheese, only ranch. Other than that, no complaints!

Tea is no longer free with your meal. $1.50 so reasonable. The soda machine is $3.
Touch screen to place your order. Be careful, there is a 3 piece wings and a 5 piece wings meal.
You can refill your own drinks.
They have french fries, spicy ketchup and spicy ranch. They have also added chicken tenders.

I had a perfect chicken wing today...
One of the few places I can get spicy food. Wings holy with mac and beans is my go-to.
If you want it super spicy, ask for unholy, That's where the real spice is.
There are tables set up inside and, when it is warm, tables set up outside.
Every Tuesday the entire family comes so they can get their gluten-free chicken.
I also really like the environment. The people seem to get along really well together and are kind to their customers.
They have high chairs if you need them and they also just got these cute caution signs that look like bananas. They really compliment their banana pudding.
The mac and cheese has changed yet again, very much for the better. I really enjoyed my mac and cheese, as well as my beans. They even have a Mac and cheese with nuggets dish.
If you want a vegan option they have Nuggs, which is a plant-based alternative to chicken. I've never tried a nugg.
They have a Coke machine now so you can have Coke products or sweet tea. The sweet tea is half the price of the coke.
I've been enjoying HCT for a couple years now. Their updated (slightly expanded) menu made something already amazing even better. The food is phenomenal, and the service is exceptional. What makes eating at HCT more enjoyable is knowing that you're supporting second chance employees get back on their feet. I absolutely love HCT.
Great lunch special! As usual the food was hot and delicious and the service was impeccable. Mr. Craig treated us like family.
The food was quick, order easy, and very good. I ordered the hot chicken tenders and they were a reasonable level of hot, could still taste the chicken. I have other flavor preferences for that level of hot but have to give this its due. Kevin was there to assist in the ordering, was very courteous and helpful! I carried out but inside the establishment was clean and rustic, nice casual appeal.

My family and I drove 4 hours to eat here (and go to the zoo). We ate here a few years ago when there was only one location, different location than this, and my family has talked about it so much since then. I wasn’t ready for any heat on my chicken on this trip so I stuck with the kids and ordered mine cold for the heat. My husband went down a level to medium this year and he thoroughly enjoyed his food. We had ordered the kids chicken with Mac, chicken sandwich (topped with coleslaw) and Mac, wings (5) and beans, and a banana pudding.
The sandwich I ordered was so filling. I didn’t want to not finish my food as I was full before eating it all. It was seriously too good to let any go to waste. I ate my sandwich with their homemade ranch. I only like homemade ranch, not the store bought and this met my expectations. The coleslaw serve is so good. It’s lightly dressed and not the heavy mayo kind. Their Mac is creamy and baked so it’s the perfect combination of taste and texture. The sandwich is also served with pickles, the good dill cut pickles. My husband ate his 5 wings, no bread and no beans and was full just off that. The kids enjoyed their food so much and also enjoyed dipping the chicken in ranch. The banana pudding was divine. We all shared one serving since we were already full. The pudding was fresh,
The homemade banana pudding tastes with real bananas. It did not disappoint.
The meals came with sweet tea, served southern style as it is very sweet.
The restaurant was clean, staff was friendly, and wait times were minimal.
I can’t wait to go again today, two days in a row.
Kevin F is an amazing spirit. His experience and detail regarding customer service is clearly an example of stellar training and intrinsic support. The food is good, however, my experience through Kevin was great!
Best chicken I’ve ever had hands down. Kevin took care of us and he is always smiling. He made our experience top notch. It’s comfortable inside and easy to relax. What a perfect combination of food, service and atmosphere! I would upload a picture but all you would see is bones!
I was pleasantly surprised by the heat of their “holy” sauce, when they said it’s hot they truly meant it. The chicken was AMAZING and their baked beans left me scraping the bowl afterwards. The staff were super friendly in this location, I hadn’t been here and they gave me some good input for what sauce I should get. I had a small issue with my order but the manager stepped up and immediately did what he could to correct the mistake made.
Wonderful crew working here and I look forward to coming back to eat here again! Thanks guys!
Hope is 100/10 best worker I've ever met! It got pretty busy but she was willing to help and answer questions with a great attitude and patience. Food was also great so I will definitely be back.
I eat from Hot Chicken takeover literally once every other week - not exaggerating. I love the stuff!
But, they recently switched from "Double Holy" to "Unholy" for their hottest option.
Since then, it's been close... but not quite as hot as before. Still tastes good, and still has the "correct" kind of burn - but just slightly less spicy.
I called ahead today and spoke with Hope and DD at the Clintonville location, and asked them to really spice it up - and BOY did they!

Run, don’t walk on Tuesday nights to the locations with Gluten Free options. We stopped Clintonville and got the GF breasts, waffle fries cooked in a separate fryer and Ma’s slaw plus excessive amounts of ranch and hot ranch. It was the best meal in a while. Often being gf, you just eat at home to avoid problems but this was amazing! Thank you for doing a great job!
