I was pleasantly delighted! It is easy to see that this restaurant was once a very solid 5 Star rating, however, based on the first impressions of the entry way, the short wait at the unattended host/hostess stand and short music track which played the same songs in a 30-minute loop, I rated a 4 - albeit a very strong 4.
The food was very good, arrived piping hot and was absolutely worth the wait. Wait staff was attentive and the atmosphere was elegantly decorated.
Great food and staff! Nice menu includes many Thai dishes. I asked if they could make mine spicy and they said yes but they do not do spicy very well so ask for extra hot if you like! Nice decor and a small, full bar as well.
I have a new favorite Chinese food restaurant! They had the best Wonton soup ever and the best War Shu Chicken! I've ever eaten! My daughter had Pad Thai and she felt the same way!
We drive 45 min to eat at this restaurant. Hands down the best Chinese restaurant in columbus . It's more expensive than your fast food Chinese restaurants but all the food is hand made not from a can or box . This place is amazing !!!! I have been going to this restaurant for at least 20 years it is always clean and they are always so nice . Worth every penny spent !!!
I've been here a bunch of times over the years. They give you a bunch of food and it's usually really good. A little bit pricey, though. 4 people eating with appetizers routinely gets to about $80. The portions are usually too big for me to eat in one meal, but usually not by much.
The restaurant is generally clean and quiet. It's nothing special but it's not bad. It's rarely full when we go in so we've never had to wait. The parking lot is big and it has handicap access too.
Their food is fairly standard fair for its price range. There isn't anything overly fancy. The menu reads like most Chinese food menus. That's not a bad thing by any stretch.
We enjoy coming here, it's a good time and our service has never been poor or anything. Haven't had anything to complain about. It's pretty good.
I went with a pretty large group for my sister's birthday so we all got something different and sampled each other's food. Every dish was the absolute best I have had anywhere. By far the best egg rolls. Seafood velvet soup was new to me...but so delicious. Hunan fried rice was also the best. My sister's got general tso's tofu with fried rice. That was prepared to perfection. The place is beautiful. The service was outstanding. Dory did a tremendous job. Even posing us for pictures. And it was closing time but we were told to relax and take our time. I wish I could give it 6 stars.
Hunan House is a nice, comfortable sit down Chinese restaurant. When we go it's a 1.5 - 2 hour meal. It's drinks, appetizers, etc. It's more expensive then the corner carryout but well worth it. The portions are large and will easily feed 2 people. Try the mala green beans. Very tasty and a little spicy. We've had a number of different meals and they've always been excellent. The staff is very friendly and attentive. James was our server tonight and he was so nice. Great place.
Very nice decor inside this restaurant! I was pleasantly surprised! The waiter was very pleasent and refilled our drinks promptly as needed. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal. I ordered a spicy lamb dish, was very tender and filling! Prices overall were very reasonable, and the portions were just right.
My first time here, from the outside the place looks alittle run down. The inside is really nice. Lots of mirrors and cool decor. The sweet and sour soup is great. Definitely try the lettuce wraps the flavors are great. I had the orange chicken and it was delicious. Portions are huge. I would definitely go back
Loved the atmosphere. The waitress was very nice and just the right amount of chatty. Our drinks never got below half full. And she was right there filling it up. I tried something new, I forget what, and it was delicious. I will return with more friends next time.
Been eating at Hunan House for 30 years (grew up nearby on Cooper Rd), and it is quietly one of the best Chinese restaurants in Columbus, if not THE best. Their food and service have always been excellent. Fresh ingredients and delicious, colorful dishes. Got to introduce my fiance to their fare tonight for the first time and she absolutley loved it. A must-eat-at off the beaten path gem on 161, if you've never been.
Fantastic food and a lovely atmosphere. I had the Crispy Macadamia Chicken while my husband had the Crispy Orange Beef, and both dishes were excellent. Our older sons (ages 4 and 7) had the Satay Beef and Wonton Soup and loved them. Our youngest son (age 1 and a half) happily had a few bites of our Fried Dumpling appetizer and some of my chicken. Our server was very nice. We will definitely be going back.
My boyfriend and I went here for the first time yesterday. We thought the outside of the building looked neat, so we decided to try it. They have a great number of things to choose from, and we were very pleased. I got the chicken with green beans, and he got the mango chicken. The portions are huge, and the food was amazing. I felt like the sauce on mine was a little too sweet, but it was still great and fresh. I am giving. 4-star review, because we had to wait 20-30 minutes just to pay. Our waiter kept saying he would bring us the check but kept taking orders and bringing orders out. It took longer to pay than it took to get our food.
Good food, but they can improve the service, I love their pina colada.
