Stopped in here a little after 2 pm on a Wednesday. I was interested in trying this new place right downtown. The location has seen several restaurateurs come through in the past decade, and each brought great ideas with them. Serenity, Hae Paul's, BigBite. These places may have fallen victim to the "I am afraid to tell people about it for fear of it becoming "too" popular" attitude. I say here and now, please do tell people about this wonderful South American gem in the heart of downtown Columbus. I had the falso conejo, a bolivian dish consisting of a beefsteak pounded and breaded, pan fried and then toppped with a great yellow sauce with peas and potatoes. It was great, served with a side of rice with cilantro. Being that it was post lunch, the owner, Jorge, and I had a fairly lively conversation about restaurants and such. Great guy, Jorge. I wish him the best. I can't wait to go back for what looked like a killer selection of appetizers, including empanadas, a sausage plate, tostones and more. What looks like a killer drink selection plus these small plates would probably make for a fantastic post work, wait for traffic to clear, happy hour. 8.5/10 from this amateur reviewer.
Every place we wanted to go were full on Easter Sunday but found this really great South American restaurant (Bolivian) in downtown Columbus. The owners George and Cora were most accommodating, food was very, very good and service was excellent! David loved this place too. Will definitely be coming back. It was absolutely a great dining experience.
What an incredible treat. Over an hour later, and I am still talking about this place. The food was delicious and authentic, and the staff and owner were some of the friendliest and most interesting people I've met. These kinds of places is what makes Columbus a great city. I'm so happy we went here, and after eating about 10 lbs of delicious protein (Bandeja Paisa), I probably won't be hungry again until lunch tomorrow. This is a new favorite.
We had a great lunch here this past Saturday. The food was delicious (do not leave without getting an order of beans; the best I've ever had), the service was impeccable and the space itself is colorful and feels authentic. I write "feel" because I've never been to either Bolivia or Colombia. Chef/Owner Jorge is very personable.
First time I've been to a restaurant and couldn't find anything to complain about! Food was excellent and margarita was the best I've had in a long time. Jorge and his entire staff made us feel like family. You must try them out!!
Top notch restaurant!! Staff and menu excellent. Enjoyed our meal and the Margarita's are the best!
You're paying for authentic food cooked by someone with more than 4 decades passion behind them and a nostalgic experience where you feel like family.
Owners are very involved and it shows in the quality. George, owner, shared his background and stories with us; how he has over 40 years chef experience behind this menu.
DEFINITELY TRY THE SAUCES! They are not named as they are homemade, take forever to make and are indescribably delicious. They name the sauces by the color.
Our favorite was the yellow sauce that came with the fries but the 2 different green sauces were fantastic, also. We got some red sauce to go as we didn't have it with our dishes; that says something, sauce so good we got some to-go!
Only reason for 4 stars is the service didn't match the food quality. In her defense, it did seem like she was new but, if so, she should have had some help. Went 15 mins after being sat before we were able to place a drink order but, we are 100% glad we stayed and got to experience the great food.
My girlfriend got the best plate option available, in my opinion, the BANDJE PAISA because it was basically a sampler of everything - definitely shareable for two; unless you're my girlfriend, in which case, I got a few sample bites. Everything was delicious on her plate.
I got the CHICHARRONES MODERNO, and enjoyed it. The bandje paisa actually has a small portion of this on it so, really, I could have ordered something else.
We got the cheesecake for dessert; it was mediocre but the personal touch of the red sauce heart, while being delivered by the female owner with a smile, made it more than enjoyable.
We were upset that all of the empanadas were gone but that must mean they're THAT good... we will be back to find out.
TLDR;
Amazing food, even more amazing owners. A must try. First timers should get the BANDJE PAISA.
Amazing food. Jorge and Cora are very nice. Thank you for your hospitality and the great food. Columbus needs more diversity besides steak and potatoes. This is it.
We love Andes! Food was amazing. George (the owner/chef) was so warm and friendly. He came out and talked to us about the food. Our waitress Shanna was very sweet and accommodating. By the end our bellies and hearts were full. Definitely coming back.
Clean fast pleasant service, owner and staff are more than hospitable. The food came out quick hot and amazingly delicious. The owner happily described the prep for the most amazing pork belly and beans while giving us recommendations for heating up the leftovers we carted home. Will be back again.
I tried this place today in my way to Pittsburgh and I was so glad that I stoped by. I ate the bandeja paisa and could sound unfortunately but it doesn’t take colombian at all but it was more than good, what’s a completely new experience. The empanadas were made from corn instead of flour and they were super good. I will come back to try another dish from other country if I have the chance
Pisco sour was good if you haven’t had it before, if you Peruvian like me then you know something is off, my guess is that they use lime mix instead of real lime. Lomo saltado was pretty good and juice and good portion although I had the impression that they use frozen potatoes. I recommend this place I plan to go back.
Jorge was totally awesome and the food... just WOW!! Totally recommend this place!
Great place! Totally recommended. We definitely will back
Fabulous food, a warm, fun atmosphere and amazing service made this one of the best dining experiences my family of 5 has had together. The owner and server made my husband, me and our children feel welcome and gave some great suggestions for dishes we all would enjoy. We tried several dishes, and all of them were wonderful. Stop in! You’ll be glad you did.
Man the food was delicious. I highly recommend you try the fried pork.
