I started coming on Thursdays with friends for trivia and this place quickly became a main stay for us. Greatly priced drinks and food, amazing bartenders who get to know you, and an inviting atmosphere. As far as dive bars go, I am very happy with this place and would highly recommend!
Stopped by late last night for a birthday beer with my husband. Clean, friendly environment. Next time I hope to try the food but in the meantime ask for a buckeye shot

Great dive bar. It is near campus but at least in the early afternoon doesn't feel like the usual campus bar. Pricing is dirt cheap.
They do food in the super old-school way in that it is cooked by the bartenders right behind the bar.
Stopped in today with some friends and was met with a very generous and understanding bartender who handled our big group rolling in right after opening with ease. We’ll be back next time we’re in Columbus!

Their blackened chicken sandwich was delicious. Their bartenders are extremely friendly and approachable! We watched the celtics game and had a blast.
I don't usually post reviews, but the customer service was outstanding. I went to charge my phone, the bartender said the outlet didn't work, and offered to charge my phone behind the bar. It was passed the time that they serve food, so he gave us chips to tide us over. He went to play the jukebox and asked what we wanted to hear. Just GREAT customer service. When they didn't even need to offer us a thing.
The Thirsty Scholar is that little divey campus bar you go to if you want a quick drink. You can buy a specialty mug to get refilled everytime you come, so great for locals and students. They have a GREAT trivia night every Thursday that is worth the trip! 10/10. Would recommend.
Awesome burger. Good prices. Great place to stop before a Buckeye basketball game.
Bubba was great, this place instantly pulls you, I considered this place our home bar immediately, the customer service and atmosphere is spot on. This place is fun and down to earth. Definite must on game day. Location is perfect! Thanks Bubba for the marvelous times.

This place is a real dump! If your looking for first class facilities this is not it. This is a college dive bar. Cheap drinks, good food, and good times! Highly Recommended!

The Scholar is a great campus bar. Great prices, excellent food, pool table. Good for pre-game before heading to the Schott.
The place to party on game days. Have the thirsty burgers on non-home gamedays. Not sure if they do it anymore but did have $12 all you can drink domestic drafts. Try a "sex in your mouth" shot. Restrooms downstairs by pool table.
They cook the food right in front of you and beers are always a reasonable price. John Taffer would be proud. 5 stars.
Sincerely the best bar, drinks, atmosphere in Columbus. Bubba is the owner, host, bartender there is!
