I've been to Pie-Not a few times and it's always been a good experience. My favorite is the Dog's Eye, which is packed with ground beef and peas. I've had pretty much the whole array of pies, but I keep going back to the Dog's Eye.
They also have some Aussie desserts and pies you could take home and bake yourself. I like just to order a few extra to take to work the next few days since they warm up nicely.
These pies are hearty. This was our first time trying it out here. The last time we had these types of pie was in Australia. We got 5 different pies. All of them were delicious. We even bought some frozen uncooked pies for dinner some time. Each pie is about $7.50 but more filling than a fast food combo. We would but here again.
I was in line at the place next door that sells donuts, when I noticed the Aussie pie place. The donuts left me feeling gross and unsatisfied because of how super fried & sweet they are so I went over to the this place to get something savory AND IT WAS SO GOOD!!! I bought three things. A ground beef pie, a chicken pie with peas and the sausage rolls - they were so good!!! I'm for sure coming back.
I lived in a Australia for a year-and-a-half, and one of my favorite things to eat while there was meat pies. Sadly, when I came back to the US, I was not able to find them anywhere, well, until Pie-Not. They have an excellent range of meat pies that are all authentically Australian. They even have ginger beer available, Lamingtons (an Australian dessert), and ketchup (tomato sauce) and sweet chili sauce to put on your pies (also an Australian thing). The taste is great and what I remember from Australia, if not better since this is a whole shop focused on them. I was so happy when I found out Pie-Not existed, and even more happy when I found out they were good. So try it out, you won't be disappointed!
Great "cheat day" meal, very decadent and heavy. Thoughts:
Dog's eye: quite salty and probably our least favorite
Drover: the peas and carrots helped break up the heaviness of the meat and the parm potatoes were delicious, 3rd place because it was still a little too salty which was surprising because we love salty
Drunken cow: absolutely delicious, 1st place. Great flavor and not too salty.
Mary's: a close second. Could really taste the lamb and was really savory.
Note: refrigerating and reheating the next day made them even more delicious somehow
DE.LI.CIOUS!! I ate it too fast and forgot to take a picture. "That'll do Pig" = a flavorful blend of ground meat and spices with bacon bits. "Mary's" = lamb and lemon zest. I have to come back and try the other flavors. Cannot recommend this place enough!!
First rate bakery. Had a problem which they fixed immediately and their pies are a taste of home!!
Follow up: Pie-Not is a class act. They contacted me about my experience, made the effort to fix my concern and invited me back to try their pies again. Great job!! Excellent pies and I'm hooked for life!!
So I’ll admit that I tried Pie-Not when I rode over to Sidecar Doughnuts and forgot it was a holiday weekend (which meant the line for doughnuts was around the corner of the building), but Pie-Not is no consolation prize, particularly if you are in the mood for something savory. They sell sweet hand pies as well, but their savory hand pies come both with meat and vegetarian and are warm, flaky and delicious. Are they low fat? No, but they are yummy!
Had one of the pies for dinner. Service was quick as the pies are made and then kept hot under a heat lamp but did not taste stale at all. They also offer frozen pies which you can purchase them bake at home. Nice little place for some unique quick grub.
I'm an aussie. The pies look pretty good, and I recommend giving this place a loonk. I had a vegan pastie, and a dog's eye pie. The fillings were very nice. But the pie's filling was too oily and it softened the pastry so I couldn't pick the pie up. You need to be able to hold a true aussie pie in one hand.
I have been trying to eat at this place for awhile but they've been either closed (Mondays) or sold out. Having finally had one I see what people are taking about. Had the dog's eye and my fiance had the what a leek pie, both were so good. The owner was very friendly and we will be coming back again and again. Best part for 6 bucks you will be full on really good food.
Had been waiting for Pie Not to open since the announcement last year. They're only soft open and I've been 3 times. Growing up with a Scottish dad and French Canadian mom meat pies were always a treat, though in my adult life take a bit of dedication to make and get right. No need. I can now go down the street and grab one whenever I want. They just about fill you up. Took one home and had it with a salad last time to get a little greens in there but every pie/quiche I've tried (Thatll do pig, curry in a hurry, dogs eye, sprung a leak, drover, lozza, brekkie) has been great. Obviously need to try the rest to find my favorite but so far very impressed.
Oh and the coffee is good too.
My niece from NZ introduced me to your place two years ago. Whenever I am in the area, usually go in, my favorite is Mary's, haven't tried the other pies, probably all good. Bundaberg, always a good choice. Tried the Lamington today, yum! Met the owner today, nice guy! Great business (not bad for an Aussie)
One of the most amazing pies I've had and the help is supper nice and friendly.
A large variety of choice, both of savory and sweety pies. very friendly staff as well.
