Hmm they told me the barley and walnut loaf was good, I'm not sorry to say I loved it and think it's great. We have had the rosemary olive loaf before and my wife loves that one. The sourdough and cracked wheat loaf are good. I haven't tried the rye or (I think it was/is oat and molasses?) Yet. But looking forward to them. The bakery has some (imo) unusual hours, but I think it's worth the trip and to try all the stuff!!

Great bakery in Coupeville. I love the croissants, and the bread loafs. I highly recommend a stop at the Red Hen for anyone who's in Coupeville.

This is a gem of a place in the Whidbey Island. Sweet little bakery located in the beautiful town of Coupeville. We had apple walnut and poppyseed tea cakes and they were delicious! If you are visited Whidbey, make sure you visit this bakery. We loved it!

A nice bakery with a fine selection of pastries, pies, breads, and sandwiches. We tried a few of the English muffin breakfast sandwiches and the salmon croissant sandwich and all were great.

Sadly discovered this gem a bit late in the day, but the cinnamon roll and the apple-wallnut cake were amazing! Will visit again!

The stuffed hashbrowns were delicious! They are deep fried and crispy! The cinnamon roll was nice and soft. I had frosting on top. The frosting was a little disappointing because it was not a cream cheese based frosting but a butter frosting. Service was great. Ordered at the window and someone brought your order to you.

I was Sarah’s French teacher in high school. I used to brag about really good croissants in France in class. She and her husband make a truly exceptional croissant along with the other really tasty sweet and savory pastries. Tres bien fait Petite Poule Rouge!

Great coffee, delicious pastries and freshly baked bread. There are sandwhiches here, too! The cinnamon roll is a must-buy. Beautiful view of the water, and a very cozy dining room with plenty of seating at a huge wooden table (or smaller tables for two.) A worthy stop if you're passing through!

Cute interior, and everything in store looked delicious. I got the lemon poppyseed tea loaf, and the cardamon roll, both of which were wonderful. Neither too sweet or one note. Easily some of the best baked goods I've had. Will take a lot of self control to not buy everything next time I come back. 10/10
