Food, service and ambiance are all awesome. They had lots of great food to choose from and the views from the back deck are awesome. I have the fried chicken club and my buddy had the fried shrimp platter. Prices were fair and reasonable
Great atmosphere for the Northshore. The menu is a mix of good eats and comfort foods while the bar has the largest selection of beers on tap in the gulf coast region. You can go for a birthday party, bachelorette party, graduation party, or if you simply want to check out the latest Saints or LSU game. Love this place.
This is a beautiful setting for a very nice restaurant. We had a large group and couldn't have asked for better service, and the food was very good. It wasn't gourmet, but it was all very good. I don't think that anyone in the group didn't enjoy their meal, and the steaks were cooked to perfection.
I enjoyed this place so much! I give it the best rating it can get. Food excellent, service excellent, will definitely return when we are back in Covington. I would recommend this place HIGHLY!
Awesome place!! Watched Saints game out back on deck and weather was perfect! Had the fried alligator for appetizer and a couple bloody Mary's which was very good! Service was excellent for just a little order and being there for so long. Definitely will be back. Must try if your in the area.
Great atmosphere and amazing beer and liquor selection. You want to drink it, chimes probably has it. Or their bartenders can at least suggest something similar! Food is good and it's a great place to kick back with a few friends. Also, go see the goats!
This place is great for lunch outside on deck! Great view of a huge boardwalk and you can sit outside and enjoy yourself, then walk down to the river. The service is another story... Mostly teenage girls in tight shorts with no brains. If you are patient, and not easily upset by inconsistent service... Then go here and relax. U might be a while tho... So make sure ur not on a time crunch. The roast beef poboy is one of the best. Shrimp and grits appetizer it huge and creamy and seasoned perfectly!
Dec 29 2015 We entered and were seated almost right away albeit upstairs. Two of our party of 4 were disappointed to find out they were out of bbq shrimp, so we had regular shrimp poboys that were perfectly prepared with the right amount of shrimp. The alligator appetizer was tasty but a little fatty, so we won't be ordering that again. The lack of a child's hamburger option forced us to get the adult meal for our youngest, which he didn't mind at all. We had to ask for tartar sauce which arrived in plastic togo containers, but the wife thoroughly enjoyed the half n half fried catfish and shrimp plate. The service was a little slow... and he bussed our table of the food even though we were packing items to go. We left with mixed feelings. Be sure to like my review!
Aug 30 2013 Almost didn't go..... After reading all the bad reviews, we almost didn't come... that would have been a mistake. Both the food and service were great! Everyone including the kids had food left over. We enjoyed the fried seafood and the stuffed shrimp were excellent. I would also recommend the BBQ shrimp poboy. The atmosphere was a little loud, but we will be back. Don't forget to "like" my reviews!
Meh. Mediocre food. Fun atmosphere. Overpriced.
Fine, not fabulous. The food wasn't all that, but the atmosphere was good. Good place to go for a beer.
This is a place that you either love or hate. The setup is great but the food is horrible. Don't go unless you plan on drinking which will make the food edible.
Never lets me down. I've been going to Chimes (all three locations) for three yeaers now. I'm not a big drinker, but I find the food to be more than satisfactory. The seafood, steak, salad and oysters are all excellent. The menu is full of South Louisiana classics.
Amazing location. The boardwalk is awesome, watching the goats is fun. But most of all the service is great, I love the burgers!
Like It. Been here multiple times and don't have any complaints. The fried seafood plates are always great and fresh. The shrimp n grits is the best appetizer there, but the others are good too. If you can leave room for desert, the Bread Pudding is amazing. Always leave this place satisfied. Good job!
Ah the Chimes. Perfect drinks and fried food everytime. Oysters are gorgeous especially in season.
Ambience was terrific. Food was good. Grilled shrimp was excellent. Restaurant was very busy so the service was suspect.
Great atmosphere for socializing but food isn't fantastic. . Great crawfish and drinks! Little overpriced and sometimes slow but that's what I've come to
expect here!
The service is hit or miss.
Great food! Upbeat! Saturday night so gonna wait but only bc the place is packed!! Music playing so great for adults to mingle by bar area. I'm a grey goose dirty martini drinker and at many places I continue to get them to remake until they get it right, but they nailed it on the first try!GREAT food! Everyone at table please w everything we ordered. Hostess friendly. Michael was a great server!!!
Great food lovely board walk and goats and ducks to watch and average prices although it is very busy
Chimes, the hangout place. Chimes is always busy but I think it's the bar that is the draw.
Good prices on drinks and then oh, yeah you can order some food as well.
A great place to kick back with the friends or catch a sports event.
Always a bit disappointed in the table service but then again I don't go there for the food.
Food was great and service was great thanks to Augi, he was the best! I will be going back soon.
Oh Yeah. I was very weary of this place because of the rating. A friend from Covington suggested and he knocked it out of the park. Killer étouffée and really good gumbo. Oh yeah and they have a very delicious beer selection
Back Porch...Beer!!!. This is one of my favorite locations to sit on the porch (heated in winter) , have a beer and visit with friends. The huge horseshoe shaped bar is always interesting too. The beer selection is fabulous, appetizers are great too. I had a company Christmas dinner for approximately 25. Excellent service, food and fun!!
Thanks for staying open through the hurricane!! That meant alot... My kids are still alive b/c of it!!!
Loved it!. Great food and reasonably priced. The chargrilled oysters were the best I've ever had! The seafood gumbo was very tasty! Beautiful place and great beer selection. Loved the atmosphere! Had to wait 20 mins, but well worth the wait, by the time we finsihed admiring the back walkway and dock, our table was ready. We will be back!
Fun Place but loud. I went to The Chimes last light and was very happy with overall quailty of food and staff. Our waitress was prompt and attentive. They were very busy and the bar was loud but we still had a good time. I had a cheeseburger for my meal and multiple cocktails. Not the best burger I've had but it was very tasty none the less. My cocktails were superior. I will be back for sure!
A very good restaurant experience. Excellent food, very friendly service, and a great beer selection.
Great Quality/Great Atomosphere. My Roast Beef Po Boy was high quality from the savory roast beef to the authentic New Orlean's French Bread! I am always happily surprised when high quality (taste+texture+temperature) food hits my table without a noticeable delay. It is an art that deserves so much more respect than it gets!
Just be warned....this is not a nickle&dime restaurant! You get what you pay for at Chimes for sure and will not be disappointed on any level!
Be sure to check out the back porch and take a walk down to the river....at night it can be pretty romantic!
Good food, reasonable prices, service was good as well.
Great Food, Great Service. I went to the Chimes on November 25, 2011 after the LSU game for a drink and a bite to eat. Sat at the bar, and was greeted by Paul, the bartender, who took my first drink order even though he seemed to be mainly making the drink orders for the tables. I had some delicious char-grilled oysters (best in LA as far as I'm concerned), and a Black & Bleu burger. The food was great, and even though he obviously wasn't working the main bar, Paul took care of all my drink orders (his Old Fashion is to die for), and even chatted about LSU football for a while. Very friendly, and I will be back!
Like LSU all over again. I was a little worried by what other had to write about this place because the Chimes of my LSU experience was wonderful, I was not let down. First off, the view of the river was awesome. They have every beer you could imagine. The food was great. My wife and I shared a burger that was top notch and the chargrilled oysters were phenominal, (even better than Drago's.) And the TV's; we went there to watch the LSU Auburn game, and I can't think of a better place to watch a sporting event. The only problem I had was finding and parking spot and waiting for a table, but in there defence the place was packed (I guess they're doing something right.) All-in-all it was a great experience and I can't wait to go back.
The atmosphere is awesome. Had crawfish Mac-n-cheese and it was delicious. The shrimp lasagna and the shrimp and corn soup were also delicious. Would recommend to everyone and will definitely go back.
Real nice physical plant. Mac and cheese w/ crawfish were great, red beans and rice great. Twice now I have had a horrible burger on a cold bun, Not even room temp. one burger burned to well done. Service mediocre at best. Food inconsistent. Great beer selection. Lot of potential ! Hope they get their stuff together.
The service is a little slow, but it is a new place and our waitress was extreamly sweet! We sat out on the patio and it has a beautiful view! I always get the BBQ shrimp and grits, and they did an excellent job! It was perfect!
Good Chimes, My Friend!. Mon-Sat 11AM-2AM, Sun 11AM-11:30PM. Casual dining. As of 6/11, much better than expected, given some reviews and lower "like" vote percentage. On a Sunday afternoon, only had about a 15-minute wait for seating for 4, surprising considering the crowd outside. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, the only downside being the restaurant does not allow substitutions on side items. The fried Louisiana Alligator app was some of the best that I've had and came with a hollandaise dipping sauce. I was happy to discover the chef hadn't skimped on the meat in my cup of Duck & Sausage Gumbo, the rice being cooked perfectly. The bite I had of my wife's Blackened Salmon Sandwich was exceptional, although she didn't realize the need to specify the fillet and not the sandwich. For my seafood platter, I prefer my catfish fried to a "crunch," but still was very good, despite the mushy french fries! Unfortunately I was pushing maximum density and had to forgo the Abita Root Beer Float (sigh)! Next time! You may want to request the outdoor seating, as the noise level did get rather loud, not due to the TVs but the kids!
Loved it.. Delicious black and bleu cheeseburger went very very well with my Erdinger hefe weisen. Loved the atmosphere, and the service was just fine!
I will be back!
I loved the Chimes in college and I'm very pleased we have one here now. Obviously there's a few kinks with opening a new place and none of that bothers me. This is the third chimes, clearly they're doing something right. And waiting two hours is the norm as far as I'm concerned. It's part of the charm of the place. I love the food and the beer choices. We sat outside which was nice. And the staff was friendly also. We will definitely go back!!
Good inexpensive food! The beer selection is amazing. The bar is made of wood from 6 continents and the view from the porch is nice. Just a good dining experience.
Great food, great prices, great location, a ton of alcohol. 72 beers on tap! Staff is new and still learning but will be great. Spin dip, gator are amaizing! So was everything else!
The food is inexpensive and taste great. Amazing beer selection. The restaurant is brand new so you can tell everyone is still getting the hang of things, but understandable. I would definitely go back.

My family and I chose The Chimes to celebrate our daughter's 27th birthday and we do not regret our decision. We went on a busy Saturday night, but did not have to wait hours to be seated. Our hostess and waitress were phenomenal, the food was hot when it arrived at our table. Furthermore, the food was affordable, delicious and plentiful...one plate can feed two people. Moreover, we ordered chicken tenders for our 2 year old grandson, there was more than enough food on his plate to satisfy him; fries, tenders, and hush puppies...he thoroughly enjoyed his meal. Although this was a busy night of dining, the restaurant wasn't noisy and our waitress made sure she came to our table frequently...very much appreciated.
Would I recommend The Chimes? Of course and my family and I will be returning soon.
Excellent food, service, and setting. Sat outside on a cool evening near one of the many hanging heaters and loved it. Chose healthy plates today and it was excellent(Salads came with these meals as well). Great drink🍸 selection too!!
Fire. We weren’t even planning to come here. Food is amazing. Atmosphere is amazing. Our waiter Seth was amazing. Request him. This was a wonderful experience.
Overpriced beverages and service is slow
Besides that 10/10 atmosphere and quality food.. Covington needs more attractions like The Chimes
Great food! Incredible service! Ondi or Andi is the absolute best! She is devoted to meeting needs and I look forward to her serving me again soon
Food was amazing! Service was even better! Only down fall was we were eating outside which wasn't bad because they had heaters but there was one really rowdy bunch of people. Other than that it was awesome!
Awesome food, Excellent service, Great prices!! New to the area and I heard nothing but good things about the restaurant so I decided to try it. Completely satisfied and will definitely be returning!!
