We read a lot about this place. And the fish was just ok for all the hype (sorry!!!). Service a little slow. Took over an hour to get main entrees. Would we go back ... probably not. (Sorry again). Good thing. Took our reservation by phone and arrived and was sitter fast.
Always a good meal. A good place for a healthy seafood meal that doesn't break the bank. I have never had a bad meal here. Their Rainbow trout is very good and I always enjoy their shrimp dishes. Their gumbo is among the best I have had and I do like their roasted jalapeno soup. For those who want fried foods, they have plenty of that too. Always be sure to ask what sides they have that day that are not on the menu. Be aware that the place is small and there is almost always a wait. But, it is worth it and the staff is very friendly and efficient. Lately, I notice they are trying out some different dishes on their daily board specials. Skate wing, anyone? Have not experimented yet, however.

Good food and good service always. Their specials are sometimes just ok, but their staples like the "fish city" sandwich and the shrimp tacos are amazingly good!!

Loved it!! Friendly staff and great food. Already planning a return visit. It's a small place but good things are located inside. Dallas is the birthplace of a number of great places to eat. The owners of Fish City Grill are part of that DNA.
Comfortable place with good food. Nothing too amazing but a good all around restaurant with good food. I would suggest it to friends in the area
This was my first time coming to this restaurant and the waiter was very informative and told about was dishes were the best. The food was phenomenal, and I'm a pickie eater but I tried food that I never would have before. I will definitely be coming back.😉☺️

Our service wasn’t so great but the food is worth the wait.
Portion is a little small but everything is really good and we were all satisfied with our meals.
Kevin's greeting was warm and welcoming. The Internet listed they closed at 9:30 pm, but that wasn't correct they closed at 9! We arrived literally a few minutes before closing, but received excellent service and fresh hot food. Thank you again Kevin ~ see you soon
Great customer service. Quickly acknowledged and seated. Our server was attentive and personable. We were presented with a soup sampler and it was delicious. Actually ordered the jalapeño soup to go. I had fish and chips with an Arnold Palmer. Very pleased with my order. The fries were yummy. The fish was light and crispy. I will definitely return.
Service, food and drinks were prompt and exceptional. We've been to the location in Mansfield and this one was just as good. Kevin is by far the best server we've ever had; very professional and courteous, with a great sense of humor and a passion for service. We'll be returning regularly.
Overall a great first visit. It was busy but we git a table without a reservation and no wait. I had fish and chips, they were good, will try fish tacos next time. The bar was hopping. The place was full by the time we left. Service was excellent. I am not a big fish person but my wife is and she really enjoyed the swordfish, we will be back.
Fish City grill is reliably delicious. I can have oyster nachos everyday. It can get busy during prime, but I've never had a fried, grilled or stewed dish here that I didn't think was outstanding. Top it off with friendly and prompt service. Just go.
The fish and chips are just right and the seasoned fries are a nice touch. The clam chowder was fine but not remarkable. Pic below. I'll plan to come back and try the rainbow trout and the blackened redfish, for sure. Last, I liked the clever sign by the bathroom door, uploaded below. I agree: just wash your hands.
Enjoyed Fish City Grill a lot. Had the combination of 3 items: catfish, shrimp and cod. They were all very tasty. My wife had scallops and bacon wrapped shrimp.
The Cole slaw was very good too.
Prices were very reasonable. Would definitely go again.
I like this restaurant...had dinner with a few friends, service was excellent and atmosphere good enough. I had a taste for good old fish and chips. Didn't enjoy what was served. The fish and chips were lukewarm and spongy. I could have made more of an effort to bring this to the attention of our server, but I didn't push it. Ultimately, this is on me.
Wonderful place. Top of the line menu with daily chalkboard specials. Was busy when we were here but the room's layout breaks up the sound waves so it is not too noisy to hear each other. Must visit.
Wonderful soups, east coast oysters, great selection of specials, entrees & appetizers. Attentive service & they actually offer to remove anything that you try & don't like. We liked everything! More space in the restaurant since the post tornado rebuild
I love this restaurant! I've been to 2 different locations, Denton and Dallas. Both are equal and the food is wonderful! I had the rainbow trout, my husband has the stuffed flounder, 2 of their regular menu choices! 👍🏼😁 Others had the shrimp and grits and one had the poboy! We also had boiled shrimp abd the shrimp dip as appetizers. All delicious!
We live in Central Tennessee, I only wish we had them there!
What can I say, this Fish City is a Preston Hollow staple! It’s always crowded and has a great atmosphere! We LOVE the crab cake sandwich (pictured) ... it isn’t on the menu anymore, but they’ll still make it on request. The vinegar slaw is some of the best I’ve had outside NC, and the roasted jalapeño soup (also pictured) is AMAZING! Our kids love the fried shrimp plate and the Mac n Cheese (basic Kraft, but they love it).
I had their Yellow Fin Tuna Street Tacos which were delicious & that rice was some of the best rice I ever had. This was their specialty for the week & I'm glad I seized that opportunity. I would have had a second plate if I could have eaten it.
We went to this place on a coin flip and couldn't have been more satisfied. It was our first time so they brought out a sample of all of their soups and even their shrimp cocktail, everything had an amazing flavor. We ended up getting the calamari as an app and it came out quickly and was hot and delicious and tasted fresh. We split the crab boil and added sausage and everything had a great flavor and the server was extremely kind and had great menu knowledge. We will definitely be back to try everything else on the menu.
We Highly recommend Fish City at Preston/Royal! Drew and Ali are both beyond wonderful! Attentive, detailed, caring and so fun! All the staff is so friendly! Food is always top notch! Drinks are delicious! Fish City employees really care about their customers. Highly recommend! Thank you so much Drew and Ali for always making our dinner and visits there the best!!
